!@#$*!

So basically, how often do you cuss? :wacky: It embarrasses me whenever I cuss to be honest, so I avoid it at all cost. That and I'm just not used to saying profane words. I'm just weird like that. Heck, I hardly use profanity even online.

I used to curse a whole lot. I guess it's one of those phases that teenagers go through. Lately though, I've pared it down quite a bit, I guess I just got tired of it. Maybe once in a while, but not nearly as often as I used to.

Swearing's my game, has been since I was a kid. I've never been told not to swear, actually.

I guess it depends a lot on where you grow up and the kind of people you associate with. I grew up on a rough council estate and socialised with the kinds of kids that were always in trouble at school and with the police, so you can't exactly blame me. It's just the way some of us are, a lot of us don't know any other way to express ourselves.

I know when not to swear, though, and I can bite my tongue if I have to.

Well, I do swear a lot due to the kind of people at school... but probably will leave it when I grow a tad bit older, XD

I swear a lot...possibly too much! It's just something I'd gotten used to as a kid because I basically had to grow up so fast and raise my sister on my own for awhile. Whenever I got upset I always cursed. It's just kinda continued to stay with me. I don't curse around my son, though there have been a few times I've been angry and slipped up in front of him. My mistake! But yeah...I can have a mouth like a sailor if provoked enough.

I swear far too much, often I just slip a 'fuck' into a sentence without thinking.

Fairly often :gasp:. I suppose when you're young it's a big thing, because it's just not the sort of thing you should be saying, and if you're told not to do something, you do it.

This...alternative vocabulary isn't something I particularly enjoy, but sometimes it just has to said...how else are you going to express your delightful surprise at getting a papercut? -__- Trust me, we need profanities!

I swear quite often, it's a habit. Most of the time I'm not conscious of swearing, I was presenting something in class one and I said fuck twice and I had no idea why the teacher was telling me off.

Practically everyone I know swears, so I've just picked it up, and it's probably why I continue to do so.

I swear when I'm stressed. But other than that, I try not to.. I was taught that its not... lady-like. >_>

I swear in Tagalog words like punyeta or tang ina.
I hardly cuss in English.

Although I do remember that one time I did, to a British tourist guy. -__-

I try not to cuss, but there are some people who dont listen unless you swear at them.
I swear at most people in russian though, they just look at you like your insane.

Lol, I believe I slipped some cuss words in Tagalog too back then. But my mom used "punyeta" a lot and I remember thinking how awful it sounded so I avoid using that word at all cost.

It's not technically a bad word. Putangina is. -_-

putangina = punyeta

shit = crap

Merely a play of words, I believe.. But yeah, hearing the latter does seem more... menacing. >_>

In reflection, I swear far too much in conversation. Depending on who it is I'm talking to, 'shit', 'fuck' and 'bollocks' fall into my vocabulary quite subtly as far I'm concerned - though less so from the point of the recipient no doubt.

I don't mean to swear, but with the area I've grown up in it's a given.

Oh...thought it was a bad word. :wacky: Shows how much I know about my Tagalog cuss words. xD So punyeta = shit...got it. Didn't really know the meaning of it. >.>

Cussing in other languages is kinda funny. :wacky:

It pisses me off when people put taboos on 'swear words' - what the feck actually makes them any worse than any others? They're man-made words, like the ones I'm using to rant right now, they use the same letters ... so why is there such a bad thought around your typical swear words? And don't give me that "it's what they imply" and stuff like that, because 'shit' and 'woops' imply the same thing when used in the same context.

This does just sound like a small child's excuse so he can swear infront of his parents but, tbh, no one's been able to answer me properly, yet.

As such, I don't really care about swearing too much. If I do, then I do, if I don't, then I don't. I'll try not to swear too much around folk who never seem to do it because it might just make me sound like a wild ogre ... but then that's only because of those taboos I mentioned.

Also, pardon the pun in the first line. xD

Good point, Dave, but I suppose it all really depends on your upbringing. When I was younger I would seriously get in trouble for cursing (even when I slipped) and I guess growing up, it just kinda stayed with me. I don't mind of course. I'm not gonna go around cursing like crazy just because I think it's okay and nothing really to it. :wacky: And of course, I will not cuss around my daughter either for simple reasons, really. I don't mind when people cuss around me, but I just prefer not to do it myself. =]

Oh man, I do it all the time. I do it in Taekwondo, when talking to friends, my mother, when Im on MSN, when I lose at a game or somesuch...

oh yeah, I swear plenty. I get quite creative too if something REALLY ticks me off.

Oh! No.. I was pointing out that words have synonyms to make it sound more acceptable.

Like the word bitch. Instead of saying the word, you play with it and make "beeyotch" so that it sounds generally acceptable and will less likely make you sound rude.

The same applies to punyeta which is derived from the stronger, more menacing term of putangina.

EDIT:

:| Never thought of it that way. I got used to doing it so much.

I swear possibly too much, I probably swear more than I talk properly and tbh I really could care less about what people thought when I do. :wacky: I'm sure anybody who speaks to me could agree on the quantity of time I spend swearing. But then again, where I live it's commonplace to swear... Who knows?

I swear...to much. Like srsly, some times if my parents are around I'll stop and think, but some times It just comes out. :gasp:

But when I am alone or with friends I just swear and swear. :gasp:
