So before I go any further, I'd just like to say that I've gotten in contact with the administrators about this beforehand and have gotten the go ahead from Lord Golbez to post this. Alright, disclaimer finished, on to the meat and bones of this post!

So then, I'm a member of The Returners, a group of gamers that get together and put on gaming marathons to raise money for this charity or that charity. So why is that so important to be posting about here? Well, our currently planned marathon is going to be kicking off June 9th at 6pm CST over at http://returnersgaming.blogspot.com/ and is going to be benefiting Doctors Without Borders, and it just so happens to involve Final Fantasy. You can find out more about Doctors Without Borders here: http://www.doctorswithoutborders.org/. We're going to be providing excellent and entertaining commentary for five whole days (that's right, 120 hours of Final Fantasy) while we dominate twelve games from the series on a live stream (with chat included). We'll be playing through FF1-X, X-2, and XII. Obviously we won't be playing XI or XIV because it's just not possible for us to beat MMOs and XIII was excluded due to time restrictions (and a lack of having a copy available for streaming). But if we can get our hands on a copy and we've got time left over we'll definitely be playing it too!

So you're probably wondering how to donate. It's actually very simple. We'll be using something called ChipIn. It's a wonderful little widget that lets us link directly to any PayPal account for secure transactions as well as keep a running total of all that we've raised and receive comments from donors to be read aloud during the marathon. All money collected through the ChipIn goes directly to Doctors Without Borders, so we don't see any of it. You can rest assured that your money is getting to the right people. Using ChipIn will require you to have an active PayPal account to log into, however you do not have to have money in that account to donate. You can just as easily use a credit/debit card to donate, or if you have a Visa prepaid gift card, you can use that as well. We do ask that donors please donate a minimum of $1.00 as PayPal does take a small percentage out of each transaction as a service charge, and anything less than that will generally be used up entirely by that service charge. Finally, all donations received are tax deductible and donors will receive emails containing letters of acknowledgement from Doctors Without Borders after the donation period has ended (which is generally between one and two weeks after the marathon has ended to allow for people who want to donate but can't until after the marathon).

That's a slightly lengthy post, but it gets the message across nicely. So if you like to have a good time chatting with people, giving to a good cause, and watching games that should take upwards of 20-30 hours being beaten in 4-10, we're hoping to see you at the marathon. Please do remember to let as many people as you can know about this, as spreading the word about the marathon is just as important as collecting donations.

Thanks for all of your time, I hope I didn't waste too much of it. And thank you to Lord Golbez for allowing me to post this here. It's much appreciated and a great help for us.
