Square Enix has kicked off commercials for its latest DS Dragon Quest remake, Dragon Quest VI. It shouldn't come as a surprise given the commercials for past DQ games, but some of the DQVI spots are live action, with Western actors dressed up in Dragon Quest equipment.

See the first DQVI spot here:

For comparison, here's a Dragon Quest V commercial from last year:

And here's a Dragon Quest IV commercial from the year before:

Dragon Quest VI hits on the 28th.

These commercials are funny as hell, I remember playing DQ 5 on the DS and wondering why my character looked so dorky in comparison to the NPCs. I'm glad the Japanese commercials don't take the storyline in these games too seriously...

Oh, I do love these Japanese commercials and the funny ideas and creativity they put into them! x3

I am wondering why the adverts becoming increasingly shorter as each game goes along though. DQVI only has 15 seconds? I wanted to see more cosplaying there! I love DQIV's the best. Torneko is hilarious there.

I do wish the west becomes more inventive with adverts. There are some good ones, but when it comes to videogame adverts in the UK, we are stuck with dull and irritating Nintendo ones starring Ant and Dec.

I love Japan's sense of originality, it's not just a case of shoving a few scenes into one big clip, slapping a song over the top and releasing it as a commercial. Any of those would sell the game to me far more easier than just game clips.

It's about time companies primarily in the west start doing stuff like this :mokken:
