does any one think that the makers of 7 made cloud way more superior to all the other characters? i know hes enhanced with the jenova cell but its still kinda crazy how much stronger he is. i think the producers were to afraid of making a bad or average character that couldn't be removed from the party so they just super charged him. wut do u think?

if your thinking of how strong he is in the original game it's because he is constantly in your party, so he will always be stronger as you are leveling your other characters and switching them around, he gets the most experience point throughout the game
 
I think it also works for the game story too. Cloud was the back up Barret needed for AVALANCHE to be successful, hence Cloud had to be a super soldier for his help to be so worthwhile. Otherwise Barret would have kicked his ass out of the train before the game even started.
 
@Argor-well they could have just put him a couple levels above barret

@torbonator- Even if u had any chracter at the same lvl as cloud he is always supior. I think im just complaining because im a vincent fan boy and i think it would have been better if cloud was a little more average. but yet (how i end all my arugments) its still an awsome game
 
You forget that Cloud was injected with Jenova cells, and experimented on. Bound to make him stronger.. Also, while he thought he was stronger / had a greater past than he actually did have, you forget that he actualy DID beat Sephiroth at Nibelheim where Zack failed. This puts him at considerable strength. Even if it was a suprise attack on Sephiroth, the highest ranked Soldier should have been able to kill a lowly Shinra guard without thinking much about it at all. But for some reason Cloud was able to stab Sephiroth, and defeat him.

This shows alot of innate power that Cloud probably didn't realise he had. So when he took on the persona that Zack had once taken (first class Soldier, and of brilliant stength) he was able to play that role very convincingly indeed.

Like I said before. I realy felt that having Cloud strong helped distinguish him from the crowd as the man they can rely on in most situations. It's what he was there for.

but as a wishfull cloud

i personally think he was stronger then the rest anyways i levelled up barret and tifa higher then cloud ( after the mako) and they were heaps stronger and cloud couldnt mesure up untill i got the ultima blade ( or whatever its called) so it was really all about the weapons not the actual strength
 
in general main characters are always the strongest. especially in jap rpgs. to look at some, in Legend of Dragoon Dart obtains the divine dragon spirit (far superior to the others), in the SUikoden series the main character normally has one of the most powerful ruins automatically attached, i could go on. to compare, in ffs the main characters always get the uber limits/nice stats.

Cloud is strong, but he wasnt alot stronger than the others, in fact you could even get technical and say that Barret was the strongest because there was a setup you could have to gaurantee him lucky 7s... making him pretty unstoppable, or his Ungarmax/Angermax trick which can drill Emerald Weapon into oblivion.

i think that the fights in advent children made Cloud seem far too strong though, he was like a god in that movie.... way overpowered.
 
I haven't noticed that Cloud was powerful he even dealt damage like most of the other characters when they are the same level, I've seen him well balanced also he's injected with Jenova Cells and washed with Mako, but in Advent Children I agree he was overpowerd just like Vincent was powerful in DoC
 
I never really noticed much difference either, he was always bound to be more powerful anyway because he is like always in your party (regarding levels like) but even then you lose him for ages when he is in that annoying coma so it will all even out again

He is certainly not overpowered at the beginning of the game because I always remember Barratt hitting for slightly more so...yeah *shrugs* He aint over powered for me :monster:
 
He does however start off already using materia. He is relatively powerful. But not overdone.
As much as I like all of the other FF7 characters alot more than Cloud, Cloud does seem to be the strongest, and he is naturally the strongest.
Even if you say "Hey, Cloud was never Zack, he thoguht he was stronger than he was. He's realy a lowly Shinra guard and is rubbish", the fact is that he was powerful enough to defeat Sephiroth in Nibelheim as a Shinra guard, showing considerable innate strength/ability that he was perhaps unaware of. That is BEFORE he was injected with Jenova cells and experimented on.

Game stats or whatever, Cloud was definately a powerful character.
 
He is strong, but I certainly don't think he's too strong, I thought Nanaki was stronger, I always had him in my party whenever I could, so he didn't fall back in level, and maintaining superior power.

So no, I don't think Cloud is overpowered, just strong.
 
I really didn't see a difference between him and the characters i used mostly, the only difference i ever saw was when i got him Double cut lol and he did double 9999's. Well i just equiped Tifa with KoTR and quadra magic with it so it did 4 KoTR which is like a lot of damage lol
 
I'm not really sure if he was completely over-powered seeing his story but he is certainly much powerful that all the characters in FF7 because I remember the point where you are without Cloud and I had Vincent higher level than him by the time we got him back yet Cloud could still hit more. xD

I don't think he's remotley over-powered just abit. ;)
Don't know about AC.

Basicaly Cloud is as powerful in FF7 as Vincent is as powerful in DoC.

no that gets you a summon i finished that thing it gets an air summon after you beat ultimate weapon

and the only reason cloud is so strong is because the swords augment his strength and hit/ crit hit
 
Well it would be stupid to have the main character less able than the rest, but i can see why its hard to think why he's More powerful....
I usually keep two characters throughout the game, cloud and usually Tifa, and play around with a third depending where i am in the game. (which mean C nd T are at the same lvl) Remember Materia makes a difference to strength %'s, and it depends how you equip people, especially if you equip lots of summon materia.
Ill agree cloud had the best limits, i like tifa's too coz its pretty easy to get them all at YEAH nd HITS. I imagine if you have cloud in the front row without materia he'd be significantly more powerful an attacker than the likes of Aeris and Tifa in the back row drowned in Summon materia.... but thats a stupid way to set up a strategy lol...
Personally i invite strong characters. I like all-round characters which is probably why i chose never to use Aeris, because although she had powerful magic you dont have to use materia early on....

also, always have them on FURY status lol, faster limit charges (you take more damage tho). its so worth it and it makes your lil Cloudy even more powerful :D
 
I think that Cloud is just as powerful as the rest of the party in the game, Barret was always physically stronger for me, and Aerith always had far superior magic, but it's his limit breaks that make him the strongest character, they hit the most times. I think anyway.

Although, in the movie Cloud is just godlike compared to the rest of the party, the rest of AVALANCHE couldn't put a scratch on Bahamut when they were working together, yet Cloud was able to kill it himself >_>
