Cloud & Tifa's night together..

At the end of disk 2 Cloud tells his characters that they can go their seperate ways to say their goodbyes and what not, knowing that some may not come back. Cloud and Tifa are left alone, Tifa saying that shes "alone, remember?" They have what seems like a pretty romantic moment under the Highwind and from what they say to one another it seems as though Cloud really does have feelings for her..

Then the next scene shows them lying cuddling and Tifa doesn't want the moment to end when the sun comes up. Once back on the Highwind and it turns out that all of the other characters are actually on the ship Tifa exclaims "You were watching?" and falls to the ground hiding her face in embarrasment..

Haha ok sorry for all the details, and despite the fact that I'll probably have a zillion Clerith fans down my throat, but I think it seems pretty obvious as to what happened that night, the fact Tifa was so embarrased and Cloud merely shrugged (typical guy). Another thing to remember is that the Japanese are really sexual people, but in games and anime they hide it a lot more but give little signs, for example in Deathnote you see Light in his hotel room with a woman doing up his tie.. and you have to take what you seeas a hint rather than it turning into bloody hentai. Not being another typical Cloti fan but I think it all adds up and if it does it kind of ends the whole who did Cloud LOVE debate.

Last I heard it was almost sacrilege for a Japaense person to even show public display of affection...Sorry, but as many people want to believe it, I highly doubt Cloud and Tifa had sex under the Highwind. For one, who the hell would want to screw on a bunch of jagged rocks and for two the screen panned upward, just like it did when Cloud and Aerith were on the gondola. They could have had sex on the gondola just as much as Cloud and Tifa had sex under the Highwind. That's just my opinion. *shrugs* I still fail to see how any character is having sex in a game considering the furthest we've got to see is a kiss between Tidus and Yuna in the water. You would think that if they wanted the fans to believe they had sex, they would have atleast got Tifa and Cloud to kiss first and would have showed it. Not to mention, she doesn't say "You were watching!?" she says "You were listening!?"

I'll give you as many points as I can.

The Murakami novels I read - many of the themes in his novels is sex, he describes the love hotels they have in Japan, and how women in Japan are expected to sleep with a man when he wishes. Relationships also don't have the same meaning that we have over here - one thing I notice in a lot of Japanese material is that people sleep together, despite being married and it is not frowned upon as much.
In anime there is a lot of sexual innuendo be it, making the main character wear skimpy outfits or certain 'romantic' scenes, one I can think of is in the anime Ouran High School when the one of the guys pushes Haruhi down onto the bed and leans over her in the dark.. Ouran High School.
One thing me and my friends find funny is some of the videos you get on sites, schools where they teach young girls how to have sex in Japan and such, and yes it was a taboo to be affectionate in public but what about in private?

It annoys me since the one thing I've always known about the Japanese is that they are very sexual. And the way you guys posted comments about the Cloud/Tifa scene - which I watched last night with my boyfriend who being totally impartial to my opinions even made jokes about Tifa being pregnant or being watched by Barret and the others - you make it sound really dirty..

But they're in their twenties and do seem to have feelings with one another, and the way its shown seems romantic and loving :/ I'll try and find the script too.

I'm not exactly into the story line of 7, having never played the game before, but I did see this scene, and as someone who doesn't know whats going on there seems to be enough hints there that they did actually 'get it on'. Now I don't know if thats completely far-fetched from the rest of the story line, because as I said, I've never played the game before.

The way they were lying close together and the screen went black, then the whole 'did you see/hear' thing... I could be completely wrong but if you were asking me to give an educated opinion on it, then giving the evidence I would say they did.

As for the place not being romantic, does it matter? Sex is sex. Haha. Nah, seriously though it seemed more spontaneous than planned. I mean, who cares if its on the rocks, its Tifaa we're talking about here.

Addendum: Actually, Lady Aerith, Tifa says "You were watching" on the "high" version and "Listening" on the low version. Whatever was seen or heard, however, was still personal enough to be drop-to-knees worthy when other people were peeping in.

Well, they did actually know each other as children, just not as well as Tifa had originally thought. She fell for him originally after he left, after realizing what had been under her nose the entire time. I think she was glad to have the shy, dorky, and socially akward boy she fell for back then back.

Actually, setting aside the subjective view of it, from a narrative and a psychological since, it fits. The tender words, followed by a pan away and a fade to black, followed by a man and a woman in each other's arms when you fade back in is a well worn cliche, and two people having sex as a multifaceted outlet is a documented and analysed psychological event.

While it's quite possible Tifa was charmed by the Zackitude of Cloud, she was also confused by him. I think she originally fell for the Socially akward, straightforward and dorky boy who kept getting into fights and who asked her to the well to tell her of his deepest ambitions, the boy who had the confidence to try for SOLDIER at the age of 14, and was glad to have him back again.
Like RF says, she may not understand everything about Cloud's thoughts, but she is the one who knows him the best.

I saw cross dressing, homosexual advances, call girls, Don Corneo nearly getting his balls chopped/ripped/smashed, S&M equipment, Cloud buying god-knows-what from a vending machine, etc.

And Aerith's date fades to black, but unlike the Highwind scene, does not pan away in the classic suggestion that the viewer avert their eyes. Like the other three dates, it ends with Cloud sitting around clueless while his partner stutters out their feelings.

At any rate, Tifa sleeps on Cloud in both Highwind scenes. But something changes from one scene to the other, to make Tifa say "were you watching?" instead of "were you listening?" Whether you think it was sex or a milder form of physical intimacy, the implication is clear as day.

I disagree, on the grounds that Nomura has gone on record saying they didn't "leave anything hanging" in FF7, i.e. all the answers are there, they just won't hold a magnifying glass over them for you. And as Tifa loving the 'Zackified' Cloud... Tifa is still fawning over the 'un-Zackfied' Cloud late in the game, so I think she pretty clearly loves the real Cloud too.

Everyone keeps mention that Tifa shows feelings towards Cloud but does Cloud show any emotions back? It doesn't seem like it me. From what I remember they weren't laying down, Tifa was resting her head on Cloud shoulders. I doubt it was meant to be sexual. For all we don't know, Cloud might not have much of a sex drive at all.
