The way I would like to do this would obviously be by basing it on certain aspects of FFVIII (the aspect of Balamb Garden mainly, DUH!!). It would involve people being residents of Balamb Garden, wether they are SeeD's, SeeD candidates or cleaners; you get the idea :)

Balamb Garden RP


Rules and Guidelines
  • No god-like characters.
  • When creating profiles, limit summons to 2. As well as summons, make sure magic isn't all extreme; ultima and everything along those lines. I'm not saying you will never have the chance to use them, but can we let the RP progress first.
  • Again when creating profiles, make the Special Abilities field realistic. Swordplay, dueling, magic, agility etc...Killing is not a special ability! I can't stress this enough; we don't want this kind of profile bringing down the quality of the RP
  • Be as active as you can. If you can't get access to the internet or anything along those lines; you can't be blamed. But I do ask that if you aren't posting, you PM myself and pull out of the RP. It's not fair on the other members and it effects the story.
  • The beauty of the RP, is the ability to have multiple stories running at one time. We don't all have to follow the same plot. However, there is always the option to combine stories, but the post quality needs to remain high so confusion is kept to a minimum. For example, if the story involves a battle with 2 people, you cannot decide to suddenly bring someone else in.
Here is how it should NOT be done: 'Damon and Jimmy were locked in battle with the Grat's. Suddenly, Synth appeared and killed a Grat.'
This just causes confusion because Synth could be involved in something else and might not want to be involved!

Here is how it SHOULD be done: 'Damon and Jimmy were locked in battle with the Grat's. Jimmy turned to Damon, "We need someone else, try to find Synth!"
This way, Synth is not immediately involved, will have a chance to read the post and decide upon what happens next. He could assist them, or his next post could give reasons why he could not help, e.g. he sets off on a journey to Balamb. (Any confusion, don't hesitate to ask ;))


Other Idea's

One idea I would like to toy with, is the idea of assigning dorms to people, with a maximum of two people per dorm. I would create a list of the dorms and their residents, which would look along these lines:

Dorm #134: member1, member2
Dorm description: example--> sea blue walls, tiled floor and a picture of a chimp on the wall.
Dorm name: example--> The Fridge

This may all seem rather pointless to some people, but it's different and I thought I'd put the idea across ;) we can even take a vote on later on.

Dorm description: This dorm room appears rather simplistic, yet it is still appealing to the eye. The walls are painted a pale shade of blue with a lighter shade splattered onto it. The wooden floorboards have a single rug draped over them, placed between the two beds. There were the necessities of course; a bed, a bedside table and lamp, a dresser, a desk, and shelves for each side. The furnishings were dressed and painted to match the room. If it wasn't for the main door, the door to the bathroom, and the windows, the room would appear as though there was a mirror for a wall: identical save for the belongings of its resident(s).

Weapons: Irkana (a 5ft long samurai sword which is plain steel with a golden dragon's head down the blade)

Sendo (a rather thick blade which is 3ft in length and 1ft wide and has a red dragon's head down the blade)

Sheathes: Irkana's sheathe is copper coloured and has lion heads across it
Sendo's sheathe has a lot of black leather straps to bear its weight with ease (similar to cloud strifes leather straps which bear his sword)

Sheathe locations: Irkana's sheathe is located at the right side of Damon
Sendo's sheathe is located on the back of Damon

Abilities/Magic: Through and through (slice through the enemy repeatedly with both blades)

End of damnation (both dragons emerge from the blades and attack two enemies)

Firaga (Shoot out a ball of flame at an enemy from his hand)

Aerora (blast away an enemy with a jet of wind)

Summons: ff8's carbuncle, ff5's golem

Specialist skills:

Agility: incredible mobile on the ground and in mid air, incredibly flexible and evasive

Speed: Able to travel faster than a normal persons speed and maintain full control of it, this also gives him skills in swordplay with his strong and speedy sword strikes

(through and through and End of damnation are both limit breaks but I can use them as regular abilities if you would prefer)

Weapons: Uses both her fists and a pure crystal dagger laced with silver. (Limit attack: Euphoria which involves a rampage of normal attacks and Blizzaja.)

Appearance: weights 178 pounds and his 5foot11 tall, as short dark brown hair, light brown eyes and a well defined body...(it's true)

Personality: Loud, disrespects everyone he does not like, corageus, funny, outspoken, charismathic and naughty.

Clothes: Standard Balamb student uniform but with the sleeves pushed back like Zell uniform.

Weapon: Metal Knuckles used both to attack and defend.

Attacks: Standard duel techniques: Punch Rush, Macho Kick, Heel Drop, Booya, Mach Kick, Dolphin Blow, Meteor Strike, Roundhouse kick (like Tifa FFVII), Burning Rage, Fire Dance (like Sabin attack in FFVI), Meteor Barret and Different Beat.

Limit Break: Final Heaven and Iron Fists( combo of deadly punches dealt at high speed).

Special skills: High evasion and dexterity and also good reflexes, special martial artist.

Magic: Fira, Thundara, Haste, Protect, Blizzaga, Cura, Quake and Silence.

Summon: Cerberus, can cast triple on myself and my party members and can also attack my opponents.

History: Born in a typical family, his father had also trained in the Garden back in his days and now was a top military general at the Galbadian Army, his mother worked at the Galbadian embassy and Dollet. When he was 6 years old his parents decided to sign him up at Balamb Garden in order for him to follow his father footsteps. He was a brilliant student but...unfortunately he was caught in trouble very often, he used to go pick on the girls lockeroom and was suspended for a week a few months later when he returned he headbutted Rinoa because he thought that she sucked...he was suspended yet again for two weeks although everyone considered him a hero for headbutting Rinoa except Rinoa herself.
For a while the instructors did not know what to do with Jimmy but luckily for him both Zell and Xu who were two of the top intructors of Balamb Garden took him as their pupil and to these day they have taught him everything they now, the only thing they could not really change was Jimmy obsession with naughty stuff...

limit break: End Game: a large combo of physical attacks that deals massive damage to one opponent and casts Stop, Poison, and Blind on the rest.
Teaching style: has a very up-front teaching style takes most of his classes into the Training area
History: His family were killed by galbadian soldiers while he was on assignment on a different continent and so he trained to become an Instructor so he could help those people with families to protect them

I was wondering if we could include some skills we are superior in like swordplay or athletics? just 2 or 3 skills they are exceptional in

Hey Namine isn't your character just a bit too powerful? I mean all espers...and magic like ultima and meteor:O

And FFGuy 4 summons!? I think we should stick with one for now since we still are students and then get others as the RP moves on...

Weapons: Dragon Blade, Spirit Blade

Weapon Bio Dragon Blade: A blade passed down from his family, it is extremely light for its size and very easy to use. It has a crimson red hilt with a engraving of a dragon within, The blade is 20 inches long and 14 centimetres thick. It is made of a rare alloy that is known for its extreme lightness.

Weapon Bio Spirit Blade: An unknown blade with unknown abilities. this blade is about the size of a shortsword but comes with extreme speed and it is known that this blade contains a magical power.

White Magic: Holy, Curaga, Haste, Esuna, Dispel, Fullcure, Full Life, Protect, Shell and Eternal Wish

Black Magic: Meteor, Ultima, Firaga, Thundaga, Blizzaga, Inferno, Blaze, Tsunami and Flare

Avaliable Summons: Ifrit, Shiva and Ramuh

Special Ability: Flash Movement: This ability allows Synth to teleport at high speeds that a naked eye could not see.

Attack Stance: Spirit Dragon: A stance that Synth picked up himself when he duel wielded the Dragon Blade and the Spirit Sword. Just a basic stance

Abilities: None!

Bio: Synth is extremely skilled with swordplay and magic abilities he has magic powers that no one else has seen or heard of. He was bought up in a family that were all powerful mages. He doesn't really know his parents as they weren't around for his childhood. He went on a journey to find his "rumored" reports of his parents being seen at a local town near Balamb Garden. He now lives among his fellow students and friends at the garden.

Well, here's my character...

Name: Luana Nightingale
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Race: Human

Appearance:
- Hair:
Sandy brown. Most of her hair is very short and gives the free strands a light and fluffy look. The rest of it (which isn't all that much) is in a thin braid, tied behind her head with a ribbon (no bow) and reaching down to the base of her back. Though it is tied off at the end, it is also fashioned with a large green bead which covers the hair tie.
- Eyes: Her eyes are a light, creamy blue, bearing flecks of green around the outer rim of the iris. The eyes have a slightly angled appearance, making her gaze seem more appealing to the opposite sex.
- Height: 5' 6 1/3"
- Weight: 138 lbs
- Complexion: Luana has a pleasant tan, though does not bear a bronze tone. Save for a few stray freckles here and there on her body, her skin appears rather clean. She is well-toned and is very supple to the touch.
- Build: Her build can be described as well-toned and athletic. She bears little excess body fat, though has her curves. Her bust is a mid C cup and her rear is well-rounded.
- Noteworthy Features: As mentioned before, she bears a few stray freckles upon her body, though they are small and almost blend into her tan. Her lips are full, yet not so large that they are obnoxious. She also carries a necklace with a green teardrop-shaped jewel.
- Attire: Casually, Luana wears tight and fitting clothes that show off her curves. They are as follows;

--- Work Boots: black, steel-toed, soles are textured to be slip-resistant even on ice and oil
- Appearance in a Nutshell: Ignore the shortbow and the quiver of arrows.

First Impression:
Luana appears to be quite the tease, giving hints towards the boys and toying with them by dropping hints before turning them away. Towards fellow girls, she is more than willing to help those in aid. When the instructors drone on or when she is alone, she just sits and watches the birds fly wherever they please as she daydreams.
Personality: Beneath her sexy appearance, Luana is open-minded as well as open-hearted to those in need. She is free-spirited and has the tendency to skip her classes or just sit there and daydream. Between wistful sighs and gazing out into nothingness, she wishes to finally get out of the Garden and experience the world.

Weapons:
- Halberd: This polearm is six feet in length and made of stainless steel. The handle is four feet long, bearing a dark brown leather strap wrapped around half of it for comfort and improved grip. The remaining two feet of the polearm makes up the three blades that deal the real damage during combat. The largest blade, which appears axe-like, is a foot and a half at the widest and extends up to a foot from the steel pole. On the opposite side of the axe-like blade is another slender blade, which appears quite similar to a bat's wing. This one only extends a foot from the pole. Extending from the very end of the pole is a double-edged blade which is ten inches long. The halberd is roughly twenty-five to thirty pounds in weight, making it a fairly slow weapon to swing around.
- Army Knife: This army knife is just over eight inches in length, the stainless steel blade being four inches long. The blade is single-edged and is a mere half inch wide. The handle is close to four and a half inches long, one inch wide, and a half inch deep. For better grip, the handle is coated in black rubber. This knife sits in a sheath within her right boot. This is only used in emergency situations where Luana has lost her halberd.
- Swiss Army Knife: The case is three and a half inches long, one inch wide, and half an inch thick. The design on the case features triple diagonal stripes, going from a dark green to brown to black. This model holds eleven stainless steel tools, including the following; large knife blade, can opener, scissors, saw, file, fish scaler/hook disgorger, awl, hole punch, Phillips screwdriver, bottle opener/screwdriver, and detachable toothpick and tweezers. This is kept on a detachable key chain which is usually on her belt loop. This knife is not generally used for combat, but more for survival use.
Armor:
- Standard-issue Armored Vest: The vest is made from material that is meant to cushion the damage inflicted by blunt objects. It is durable enough to endure wear and tear. However, it is not too effective against sharp objects and projectiles. Camouflage green, covers the midsection up to her collarbone, is normally worn open in the front, despite bearing straps capable of holding it shut.
- Small Shoulder Guards: Though an extension of the armored vest, these should be mentioned nonetheless. These rounded pieces of metal are only large enough to cover the shoulders. Like the vest, these are meant to cushion damage dealt by blunt objects. Stainless steel, dark and dulled in appearance.

Abilities/Magic:
- Spells:
-- Cure: A light healing spell that can close cuts and scrapes with ease, yet can only heal a small amount of heavier wounds.
-- Thundara: Deals a moderate amount of electric damage to a single enemy.
-- Aero:Deals a moderate amount of wind damage to a single enemy.
- Guardian Force(s): Luana is most compatible with Quetzalcoatl (Element: Lightning), and also favors that GF over the others due to her affinity for birds. She is also compatible with Diablos (Element: None) and The Brothers (Element: Earth) as well. (The Guardian Force she normally has are Quetzalcoatl and The Brothers)
Other Abilities/Skills:
- Motor Vehicle Operator: Luana is capable of driving most motor vehicles, whether it has four wheels, two wheels, or three wheels. She does not drive any flying vehicles nor is she skilled with operating military vehicles such as tanks.
- Polearms: Luana's specialty is using polearms such as spears, glaives, and (especially) halberds. She can also use rods and staves, but she prefers something with a sharp end.
- Card Games: What better way to pass the time (and win a few bets) than through card games? Although her skills can be matched by several students on campus, her record of losses remains rather low. (However, her record of draws has been climbing lately...) Her favorite games consist of Dummy Rummy, Speed, Black Jack, and (of course) Triple Triads. She has been trying her hand at Tetra Master, though hasn't found anyone to play with, since Triple Triads is still a huge craze.
- Novice in the use of Herbal Medicine: It is a little-known fact, but Luana also studies herbal medicine on her spare time. She is capable of recognizing what plants are poisonous, what plants can aid humans, and what plants are actually monsters in disguise. She has enough knowledge to make a simple healing concoction and an antidote to snakebites. However, both of those would require having the correct herbs (and she is very picky about those).

I think that should do for now. Her history can be fabricated as we go along.

FFGuy, I like this idea. If we can obviously keep it limited to certain things llike: swordplay, dueling (fistfights), agility, magic...those sort of things. Nothing along the lines of, "my superior ability is killing!!!!!!!111"

Also as Jimmy said, let's keep summons down to 2; max.

Ideally, what I'd like to do is keep the major magic down to a minimum. I'm not saying we're not going to include it at all; let's just let a few stories progress before we include the ultima's, the meteor's etc...
Feel free to use magic such as Thundaga, blizzaga, Firaga; you get the idea :)

What I'll be doing shortly is writing a small list of guidelines for the RP, which will cover everything (hopefully)

Name: Enigma
Age: 19
Gender: Male

Appearance: He stands at a towering 6'4 and has a stocky build. His earth brown, slightly spiked hair has always been Enigma's pride and joy; he's very looks concious to say the least. With piercing sea-blue eyes, Enigma looks upon people with a gentle, youthful face.
His attire is very co-ordinated. A plain, relatively tight black shirt and fitted black jeans compose his ensemble. On his left wrist he has a watch with a large face, whatever knocks it has taken it has remained unscathed.
Around his neck, Enigma wears a pendant, once belonging to his brother. The brother who went missing and was never found. It was Enigma's way of staying close to him. The pendant is about the size of a bottle cap; slightly larger. Engraved on it are the letters D.E.G.U. The meaning is not known.

Dorm Number: 106

Weapons: Twin Sai, also with the initials D.E.G.U engraved on both. The tips are lined with silver and shimmer gloriously in the light. The weight, or lack of, is the biggest advantage of these weapons. Lighter than a feather, these weapons a vicous and deadly in battle.

Specialist Abilities: Stealth~Enigma holds the ability to move around unsensed, but whilst maintaining his agility and speed. This quality makes him deadly in certain situations and very hard to spot at times

Duelist~ Having dual Sai as weapons requires great speed and precision, something which Enigma has in abundance. Even without the Sai, he is a dangerous force in hand to hand combat; using devastating combo's and lightning quick speed.

Abilities: Haywire~ Enigma infuses his Sai with the power of Thundara and uses them to unleash attacks on his unfortunate enemy.

Silver Lining~ Both Sai retract and connect to the top of Enigma's gloves. This allows him to use the speed and maneuvrebility of his fists, but the strength and force of his Sai.

Creshendo~ Enigma's strongest attack. With great power, he uppercuts the enemy into the air and casts Firaga on them in mid-flight. Encased in a fireball, the enemy has no escape and is suspended in mid-air. Before falling, Enigma attaches his Sai, with the blade of each one facing outwards. Now being in the form of a makeshift boomerang he launches it toward the fireball, slashing the encased enemy repeatedly; and then returning back to Enigma.

Magic:Thundara, Firaga, Haste, Sleep, Meltdown.
