I'm not seeing the difference, he looks as much of a twig in the remake as he does in the original game. The only time he doesn't is in Nomura's promo artwork for Smash Bros. and the Play Arts Kai figure. Also anything that contradicts the compilation is a huge plus for me.

I'm far from an expert in this conversation, because I don't like getting caught up in such small details that won't actually effect the experience for me. But as far as I heard, all they said they were doing was 'redesigning Cloud to look more like he did in the original', with no specifics given on what those changes are.

An excellent and well thought-out thread.

I agree that Cloud should really have more meat on his bones. In the original game I always got the idea that he was quite strong.

How else would he effortlessly wield the Buster Sword like that? A weaker Cloud would drop it on his head as he swings it during his victory pose....

Cloud does not need to be extremely buff, and that would be taking things too far the other way for the character. But if he has the amount of muscle that you have demonstrated to be right for him in this thread, that would be in keeping with his character in the original game, I think.

I guess they wanted Cloud to be more relatable by making him skinnier. Cloud ends up as the underdog who never quite made it but assumes the mantle of a First Class Soldier. Cloud could be anyone... However, Cloud is still not just anyone. He still went through military training and worked hard. He feels a failure, sure. In a relative sense. But was he? He soon proved otherwise.
