I seem to be changing my mind back and forth here
Now the "adoption" or whatever sounds like a better idea. The only problem I can see with that is that most new members won't check the stickied thread. They're easily overlooked. Perhaps an auto-PM upon joining the forums would be more suitable. They're more unavoidable

Well, the newbies can have a choice of being adopted after all. There is a thing called "free will", isn't there? Some new members may already be used to forums, so it'll only be those who need real help that need adopted.

Lol Yea, I suggested that before. I think that combo would be a very effective system to help guide them and understand what was going on.
Also, as kind of a side-benefit of all this... it would help boost posts in the FF section. lol That's ALWAYS a good thing.

Sorry, I didn't want to read the whole five pages of the thread. You should know me by now.
It would direct new members where to go and get the necessary answers they need. It'd keep them out of trouble and not have a lot of members banned all of a sudden when they join.
But like I've said, the member can have a choice whether to get help or cope on their own. I always want to help new members, that's why I tell them that they shouldn't hesitate to PM me if they have any questions or problems.
It's helping the community, anyway.

I actually really like this idea, not only does it help new members navigate through the forum, but it will also present a more comfortable environment. I find it hard to post at a new forum where you don't know anyone and sometimes it's hard to be noticed. I think this is a great way to help show new members the ropes while introducing them to some members and certain areas of the forum where they would feel more comfortable.

It would make members feel more welcome. They'd be getting off on a good foot with whichever member early on, which would make them feel more welcome on the forums. Plus word could spread of this place being such a friendly place, which will bring in even more members

Faith's idea sounds a whole lot better then the original idea proposed. Faith, make sure to bring it up in staff, so we can discuss it more in there.
