Passion

Now this is a topic I know Riku will enjoy. lol Buddy, I don't know a lot about you but you definitely come off as a very passionate guy. I know that I am. Being passionate basically means you have infinite drive. It allows you to go really really fast and get there very quickly... the only problem is that you're not always pointed in the right direction. You either end up doing something amazing or something horrible. lol The problem is, as they say, "the speed is blinding". When you get set on a goal and you're going a million miles an hour... you often don't realize that you're doing damage until you crash head first into a brick wall at the end and look back. And then you spend soooooo much time looking back and promising yourself you're never gonna fuck up again. And for a while you really make sure you're pointed in the right direction before going off like a madman... but often times you forget... and you just end up doing something atrosious again. Something that makes you look at yourself and question how you can even stand to be "you".

So my question is, since it can do good as well as bad, is passion a good thing as a personal characteristic?

Matters how you see it. I'm more of a shy romantic. I don't make big moves until its perfect. But honestly, I dont have a lot of passion in me for a lot of things. Unlike you quick movers, I tend to over-think things and push away passionate ideals with logic and reason. So I have a weird balance. I can't think of a proper way to phrase anything at the moment. Someone else post for now

Yea, I can be very deep and think indepth about how someone is feeling or the circumstances around me. Since Busta and Mistuki are the people who know me best tehy could probably testify to that most. But I just lose sight of what I was going after or why I'm doing it. And it ends up really destroying something good.

Hmm, honestly, I think I am a passionate person. A lot of people say that about me. And I agree. Don't get me wrong, being passionate is a good thing. But then again, it could be bad as well...depends on the circumstances. But I understand what you're trying to say here. Very good post, kudos.

In my eyes, passion is a great thing. When armed with passion, you're motivated and determined to go ahead with whatever it is you have in mind. Yes, it blinds you to some things which others are often able to see because they're not so caught-up: but without passion, let's face it, nothing would be discovered. With a decent amount of people harbouring interests in various subjects, we've been able to grow and develop; explore and discover.

I have passion behind such things as fighting for equal rights of people, building model rockets, the sky/stars/space in general, experimenting with computer programs/games/etc., and so on. And while others may share or differ from what is my center, we're able to find out a lot about a vast amount of subjects and add whatever we find to the large pool of knowledge. Not only does passion help sharpen accuracy of information, but it defines a part of who we are and allows us to express our uniqueness.

Even when passion leads to a chaotic result, mistakes are still good things. They allow us to learn from them and approach whatever it is we seek in a different way. Through time, we end up discovering more about ourselves as well, what drives us, and what gives us a purpose for being on this planet.

I agree with just about everything Tristis Miles said. I would say that I'm a pretty passionate person myself when it comes to a variety of things...I have a passion for philosophy, religion (in general), martial arts, making films, my fiance, and a few other things. I believe passion is something everyone has, it just varies as to how much and in what area.

I'm gonna have to agree with Tristis Miles here. The strange thing is, I usually post really long posts, even about topics that barely interest me (like homosexual marriage for one), but one of the things I am most passionate about, which is being passionate itself, I can barely think of anything to say.

I think that passion is a terrific thing, and without it life quickly becomes dull, boring, and monotonous. I have a passion for RPG's for example. Without that passion I would come home from work each day, probably wouldn't even bother to take my shoes off, and flop into bed. Then, I'd wake up and do it all over again, if I could muster up the energy to get out of bed.

However, I can't wait to come home after work and unwind with a little FFF and at least a mild to moderate RPG session. The only reason I refuse to work Sunday's is because I need time to play my games!

Being passionate does get me in trouble sometimes though. For example, I love 3D modeling and design (usually with AutoCAD and CATIA) and since I work in a shop that produces aerospace tooling, I have unlimited access to these resources (the CATIA at least, which is approximately $10,000 a year for each license!) Unfortunately, that usually means that I occasionally find myself at work, off the clock (technically 3D modeling and design isn't my job, so I can't really get paid to do it :( ), until 10 o'clock at night some nights, when I should be home relaxing and releasing the stress from a difficult day.

Where I get into the most trouble with my passionate persona, however, is with women. EDIT: I deleted my attempted explanation as it really did not make any sense. Instead I am going to replace it with the following, which I believe not only is a better explanation of what I meant to say, but also shows more accurately the extent of my passion for these women. Hopefully you guys understand what I mean.

Honestly, I think that describes my passion toward these certain girls more than any real explanation could.

As a side note: It's strange, but it amuses me that you can tell I type with the basic asdf jkl; hand positioning just by the gibberish above.

If you want me to really get into this topic, I'd suggest you come up with a better definition of what passion actually is. It's an abstract, and therefore it will mean different things to different people.

*chuckles* I know exactly what you mean Omniscient. I get into some trouble there too, but as you've said, without it life is monotonous. It's rather thrilling though, despite the complexity of women.
