XBox 360 on normal TV

Okay, I finally got a 360 yesturday, however I own a normal TV which is use to beng set to 50 for viewing. This is of course no god for 360 games as they need to be played in 60.

I was given the option to change the settings to 60 before I started playing the game, which I did.

But Im scared in case it ruins my TV. Is this possible????

If it's a message that's asking you to play the game in either 50 or 60 Hz or something then it shouldn't affect your TV at all, you're setting the 360 to play the game to run at 60Hz.

Yeah, I use to have that as well and it didn't mess up my TV. I eventually HAD to get rid of it because it was dying on me (very old) so I bought a HD TV. With HD, there's a slight increase in detail and in the case of Dead Rising, I was able to read the text without sticking my face to the screen.

So yeah, what Scrutator said. It shouldn't damage the TV at all.

It wont kill your TV, before I broke my old one on xmas eve if I tried playing it on 60 hz all that happened was it played in black and white so I just stuck to 50 and it was fine - its just picture quality and speed I think that it affects

Iv had to use my tv watching telly for gaming now and I had the opposite effect, 60hz played just fine but when I accidentally picked 50 it was all naff blurry & pale

oh incidentally the reason it broke was coz I knocked it over - not because I was playing on the wrong setting

The 360 is better when it comes to playing games in 60hz as on my old TV it still played in colour but with the PS2 games, they'd always go black and white. However, with my new HDTV, I've noticed that on 60hz on PS2, the picture just doesn't look as clear.
