Redwall/Disney Fanfiction

Well, I'd had the idea to turn our RP into a fan-fiction. I don't know why, but I did. As a result, I have begun compiling the RP into a fan fiction. The fan-fiction is told from Felldoh the Squirrel's point of view, one of the main characters from Redwall: Martin the Warrior, a book by Brian Jacques.

I'm only posting up the prologue, preface, and first Chapter right now, and will post up more as the RP continues. If the RP dies, well, I'll continue the fan fiction.

Preface
<o:p></o:p>
Well, in one of the forums I’ve been on, I started an RP on this. It struck me midway through the RP that this would actually make a great Fan-Fiction. Since my personal fandoms are Felldoh the Squirrel, from Brian Jacques Martin the Warrior, and Jake Long, from Disney’s American Dragon: Jake Long, the story will be told from their perspectives, though mainly Felldoh’s.
<o:p></o:p>
This fanfiction is going to have myriad members from both the Disney and Redwall universes, ranging from Triss Swordmaid from Triss, to Scar from Disney’s The Lion King, not to mention bringing back some of the old villains we oh-so love to hate.
<o:p></o:p>
Well then, let’s get on with the fanfiction!

Prologue
<o:p></o:p>
Dark magic has begun to rot the core of the multiverse. Slagar the Cruel, once thought to have died from falling into the well of Malkariss, did not die. The masked fox spent his seasons in that cave, moaning and whining, until he began to go insane. He believed rocks were people, and on the few occasions where he would get his mind back to rights, he would vow revenge on Matthias the Warrior.
<o:p></o:p>
It only took a few seasons, from Chickenhound’s reckoning no more than 6, and a dark wizard came into Malkariss seeking shelter. Before Slagar could slay him for food, the fox wizard paralysed him with dark magic. Recognizing the dark potential in Slagar (as Slagar continuously muttered “revenge” during his paralysis), he awoke Slagar and began to teach him the dark ways. Why he did this, even Slagar did not know, but it was not too long until Slagar had become more powerful even than his teacher.
<o:p></o:p>
Over time, Slagar began to wax his sanity, and eventually killed his master. Slagar moved above-ground, and wandered around. He returned to Malkariss and wandered the halls there as well, searching for things to help him further his Dark magic. Eventually, he came upon a library in the ruins of Loamhedge Abbey. From here, he found forbidden works of terrible dark magic, and he immersed himself in them. Over the course of another few seasons, he had mastered a spell known as Dimensional Displacement.
<o:p></o:p>
Using this spell, he pulled myriad dimensions together, combining them with his own dimension. As a result, chaos has reigned. One thing that Slagar did not foresee was the resurrection of the creatures from his own dimension. He had to take measures and assassinate Malkariss. With the polecat dead, Slagar was free to take control of the resurrected minions.
<o:p></o:p>
As he approached above-ground, he saw a strange beast; a Black Dragon had been walking down with another, smaller, purple Dragon. Slagar tried to ambush the beast, but to no avail, as the larger black Dragon summoned creatures of shadow which Slagar could not defeat.
<o:p></o:p>
With Slagar’s army incapacitated in a heartbeat, and Slagar himself fearing for his life, he proposed to work with the black Dragon, who had introduced himself as the Dark Dragon. Together, they began to work out plans of revenge on the ones who had smote them in the past. The Dark Dragon was impressed by Slagar’s cruelty, and aided him with his own endeavours before voicing his own.
<o:p></o:p>
And so, the story begins, but not here. We are far away from Malkariss, near the lands of Noonvale, where a dead squirrel has been revived by the ensuing chaos of Slagar the Cruel’s dark magic, and a mouse follows the trail of a loathed enemy…

Chapter I – Formation<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Felldoh climbed to the next ledge on the mountain, and reached down, pulling up the young human, Jake, and the mouse warrior, Matthias. Right behind them crawled Brome, Felldoh's close friend from many years past.

It had been several weeks since Felldoh's revival, and he still didn't really know how it happened.

The last thing he remembered was Badrang the Tyrant, a cruel and sadistic stoat, screaming "Marshank!" and being ambushed by about a hundred corsairs. He knew he'd managed to kill at least 10, probably double that, but everything went black soon after.

And then, he awoke to find himself underground. He'd clawed his way up, frantic to get out of whatever hole he was in, and came to see a tree. He'd been buried there, and so he thought that someone believed him dead. The last noises he remembered were Brome and Keyla the Otter screaming "Fur and Freedom!" while the poles and spears pounded on him.

And then, everything had gone black.

It had now been a few weeks since he awoke, and he ran into a mouse that looked strikingly like his old friend and fellow slave, Martin. When he saw the sword, which also looked like Martin's sword, but only with the words "I Am That Is" on it, he almost cried out in joy for seeing Martin.

But the young mouse turned his sword on Felldoh, telling him to not take another step. Only once the young mouse, who had introduced himself as Matthias the Warrior, had ascertained that Felldoh was indeed a friend did he lower his sword.

Over the next couple weeks, they travelled together. Felldoh asked why Matthias was here, and he had told him that he was hunting a searat.

"You see, I'm not from here," Matthias had said. "I'm from a place called Redwall Abbey, and I was just married to my wife, Cornflower. But then, when I was keeping watch from the guardhouse in our Abbey, I saw an enemy run by. <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Cluny</st1:City></st1:place> the Scourge." Matthias' face contorted with rage the instant he said the name. "He was running around with a big stoat, and a Pine Marten."

As soon as Felldoh heard the stoat described, he cursed. "Badrang," he muttered after a lengthy string of oaths. "I will have my chance at revenge once more." Then he told Matthias of the stoat and how he'd been Badrang's slave, building his old fortress of Marshank.

"Marshank?" Matthias said curiously. "That's strange, that's where Martin, the founder of Redwall Abbey slew Badrang the Tyrant."

"But that doesn't make sense," Felldoh objected. "That would mean that he was brought back from the dead, which means..." Felldoh realized that he had been brought back from the dead, along with what seemed to be several others.

"But if he and I have been brought back from the dead, then that means that some of the others have as well! Matthias!" he yelled, grabbing his companion by the shoulders, "I know who we can ask for help!"

"Help?" Matthias said, his green habbot wrinkled from the squirrel's paws. "For what? We're only looking for Badrang and <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Cluny</st1:place></st1:City>, what do we need help for?"

"Badrang is a master strategist," Felldoh said. "It's something I underestimated last time. If I know that tyrant, he'll have a whole army by now. If anything, that stoat is resourceful."

Matthias nodded. "<st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Cluny</st1:place></st1:City> is the same way, and very brutal about it."

From there on out, the two set out on a journey to rid the lands of Badrang and <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Cluny</st1:City></st1:place>.

Eventually, they discovered Brome of Noonvale, running from a band of searats. Felldoh quickly gathered some stones and tossed several of them at the rats, knocking some of them out.

Matthias charged in and smote the rest with his sword. Felldoh had never seen anybeast fight like Matthias. The mouse was unstoppable, the blade swinging here and there, cutting down the rats that were attacking the other young mouse.

Felldoh rushed forward, jumping over the bodies of the rats and grasping his old friend. Pulling Brome into a big hug, Felldoh put down the young mouse and looked him fully in the face.

Brome had grown up. But if Matthias was from the time he said he was, then Brome would have been dead. That meant that he'd been revived as well.

Crying out in joy, Felldoh gripped his friend again, the tears flowing from his eyes. "Oh Brome!" he cried. "I'm so glad to see you!"

The young healer mouse looked up in the squirrel's eyes and collapsed, still conscious, but with a giant sigh of grief.

"Felldoh..." he said, so quietly Felldoh could have mistaken it for a small breeze." I thought you were...I watched them..." Without warning, Brome pounded on Felldoh's chest, yelling, "I thought you were dead! Where were you! We buried you! What happened?"

Felldoh gripped his friend tightly, ignoring the child's battering fists. "I know, mate. I've missed you too, and I was dead. I just came back a few days ago." Felldoh told Brome all about what was going on, and that he and Matthias were going to settle it.

"Badrang's alive?" Brome said incredulously. "But I saw it, Martin killed him!"

"I know, mate. This guy here," Felldoh said as he gestured at the green-robed Matthias, now searching the rats for clues, "This is Matthias. He's Martin's predecessor as the Warrior of Redwall. But even I'm alive now, there's no reason why Badrang shouldn't be."

"We should make camp here, for the night," Matthias called over. "I'll find us some firewood."

Felldoh nodded. "Right, I'll get us some food." Turning to Brome, he said, "You go get some rest. You look like you've been running for hours."

"If you're wondering where the rats came from, they came from that way."

Felldoh whirled around, grabbing his staff, looking for the source of the voice. "Show yourself!" he yelled.

From the trees above him, a furless creature with odd clothing jumped out. On his feet he had odd black cloth hooves. His skin was peachy white, and his eyes narrow and slanted. His black hair was tinted green, and his clothing was red. He wore pants, blue, and made of what looked to be a very rough material, with many pockets.

Felldoh stood at the ready, but the furless creature just held out his hand and said, "What's up? The name's Jake Long."

Felldoh, keeping his staff held at the ready, held out his hand in greetings, shaking hands with Jake. "My name is Felldoh. Why have you come here?"

"I'm actually looking for someone to travel with. I was pulled in here by something, and I dunno the way back. I was actually wondering if I could find someone to help me." Eyeing Felldoh, he said, "What are you? Some kind of giant squirrel.

Felldoh's eyebrows wrinkled as he frowned. "What do I look like; of course I'm a squirrel! And what are you? You have no fur or anything!"

"I'm a...human. So I take it then," Jake said, gesturing at Brome, "That the kid is a mouse?"

"Yeah," said Felldoh. "Tell you what, you can come with us for now, but when you get to where you need to go, we leave you behind, alright?"

"Ok, sound's cool." Jake looked around, and said, "Wait here."

Jake walked off into the forest, and Felldoh could have sworn he heard the human call something out, and then a burst of light. Maybe he's a wizard or something, he thought. The light was soon followed by the sound of chopping wood, and then another burst of light. In less than a minute, Jake came back with a whole pile of logs, and set to work building a shelter.

In about an hour, Matthias came back with the wood and jumped. Standing there was a small wooden fort, and Felldoh and Jake were up top, scouting for rats. Matthias entered the fort and joined up with Felldoh, eyeing Jake warily.

"Who is this?" Matthias asked. Felldoh explained who he was and that, with Felldoh and Brome's help, they built this little fort. Matthias accepted this, but his eyes never left Jake, except for when his watch was over.

In the morning, they'd approached a mountain, and started climbing, seeing no other way around it. It took them almost two weeks to get to the ledge they were at now.

Once they were all up on the ledge, Felldoh sat down and took a swig of the water he'd collected from a little brook on the way up. He gave the others the waterskin, but Jake refused the drink.

"Suit yourself," Felldoh said. Jake nodded and stalked off. But, Felldoh was rather suspicious. He gave a quick glance at Matthias, and crept off after Jake.<o:p></o:p>

<o:p></o:p>
Felldoh followed the human to the other side of the cliff. All of a sudden, Jake stopped, and Felldoh hid behind a rock so that Jake wouldn't see him.

Jake yelled, "Dragon up!" and a blue fire erupted around the human, cutting him off from sight for a second. Felldoh gasped.

In Jake's place stood a tall Dragon, thin, but still seeming to be very strong. Down his spine flowed a long strip of spikes, coloured green to match the same tint as his hair. When Jake turned around, Felldoh noticed that he had sharp claws and yellow belly scales.

Jake called out, and it was disconcerting that his voice had not changed when his body had transformed so radically. "Come out, rats. Stay away from the others, they have nothing to do with you or your master."

From the crags in the mountain, a swarm of rats crawled out, and surrounded Jake.

One of them, a large burly one with a mail cap and a big spear, came forward and said, "Oh don't worry. It's you that we want, Dragon."

"Yeah," Jake said, grinning. "I know, but you ain't touchin' this pretty face."

"Get him!"

Felldoh yelped as the rats swarmed Jake, and he jumped into the fray, spear in hand. Jake was surrounded by so many rats that Felldoh couldn't even see him. Since he'd attacked from behind, he had the element of surprise, and he managed to impale several rats before they realized that they were under attack.

Jake flew up, wings churning, and yelped when he saw Felldoh. "What are you doing?" he yelled, shooting down. Jake torched some of the rats that were running at Felldoh with fire that came from his maw. Using his claws, he took down another group that were running towards Felldoh.

"Why did you fight?" Jake said, landing beside Felldoh, and torching another set of rats. "Why didn't you just stay where you were?"

"'Cause you were being swarmed, mate," Felldoh said. "But we've got our hands full now, don't we?" Felldoh looked at the oncoming horde with trepidation, but relished the challenge.

"What do you reckon?" Felldoh asked. "About a hundred of 'em?"

"Easy enough," Jake said haughtily. And then they both rushed in to battle, crying out as they charged the rats. Felldoh’s spear was bloody, matched only by Jake’s claws. The battle was intense, and though it seemed like an eternity, only a few minutes had passed before Felldoh dodged a jet of flame that erupted from Jake’s maw.<o:p></o:p>

<o:p></o:p>
“Sorry ‘bout that,” Jake grinned. Felldoh rolled his eyes and continued to fight, impaling a rat that jumped at him.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Felldoh and Jake fought with a vigour that few could match. Felldoh’s spear jabbed and slashed through the air, the bloody point creating a red blur as it smote any within reach. Jake’s claws and tail were likewise bloody, though the red Dragon appeared sickened by the sight of the blood.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Sometimes, Felldoh thought, you have to do what you have to do. He cut off his thought by jabbing a rat straight through the eye.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
But there were still too many. Every time they cut down a rat, two more appeared in its place. But Felldoh would not give up.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Jake was less adamant. “Felldoh,” he said, whacking a rat across the muzzle with his tail, “We have to go back and get the others, there are too many.”<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Felldoh shook his head vigorously. “No!” he exclaimed. “I will not let them kill me like this again, and I will NOT call for help!” He floored a rat and speared it, turning back and impaling three rats that were creeping up behind him.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
“That’s exactly why you died last time Felldoh!”<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Felldoh stole a glance towards the ledge before returning to combat. Approaching at breakneck pace were Brome and Matthias. With his sword raised above his head, Matthias cried, “Redwall!” and charged the group with Jake. Felldoh made to join them, but a paw seized his hand and pulled him back.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
“You’re hurt!” Brome exclaimed. Felldoh glanced down at his right leg. Protruding from the flank was an arrow.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Felldoh laughed weakly, unaware of the pain until he had actually seen the arrow sticking out of his leg. “Well,” he grimaced, “Look at that. You think you can get it out, Brome?”<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Brome scowled as he grabbed hold of his shirt, ripping a few long strips from it. “Yes, but only if you promise to stop charging in blindly like that! You could’ve been killed again.”<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Felldoh gaped at Brome. “But what about Jake,” he said, pointing at the berserk dragon. “He was going to take them all on by himself, he would’ve been killed.”<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
“Yes,” Brome growled, “but take a look at him.” Felldoh looked. The majority of the arrows and swords clattered off of Jake’s scales; the ones that weren’t only made small bruises. Felldoh was incredulous.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
“It’s obvious,” Brome said, “that Dragons have really tough scales. He can survive in this, Felldoh,” he said, looking Felldoh fiercely in the eyes. “You can’t. So stop rushing in like that.” Brome quickly drew the arrowhead out, and Felldoh grunted in pain, his claws scraping across the ground as he flinched. Immediately, Brome took his makeshift bandages and wrapped them around Felldoh’s leg.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Felldoh got up a little slower than usual, just to make sure his leg would still work properly. It worked fine, and he grabbed his spear. With a might cry, he lunged back into the fray. Within a few minutes of the battle, the majority of the rats were dead, though many had fled for their lives. Felldoh placed his back paw on the back of one of his victims and loosed a mighty roar of victory, which was echoed by Matthias.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Jake cried, “Alright, we won!” Felldoh laughed, invigorated, and then sat down on a nearby rock.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
“Alright, Jake,” he said. “It’s time for some answers. How in the blazes did you become a Dragon? You were a human one minute and then poof! You’re a big, red, scaly Dragon. What gives?”<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
In a burst of the blue light again, Jake turned back into a human. “My whole family on my mom’s side can all do the same thing, we’re a family of Dragons.” Jake considered himself for a moment, before amending, “Well, some of us can. My mom can’t, the Dragon thing skipped her generation, but me, Gramps, and my little sister Haley can.”<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Pain shadowed Jake’s face, and he seemed to lose something from within. “That’s why I’m looking for a guide around here, I lost my Gramps when we got sucked into this place, and I have no idea where to look for him.”<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Matthias’ face became solemn, and he said, “Yes, I, too, know what it is like to lose a grandfather. Not long ago, one who I was very close to was killed. He was the closest thing to a grandfather I’d ever had.” Matthias’s eyes were fierce when he looked at Jake. “We shall find your grandfather, Jake, and, gods willing, rid this <st1:place w:st="on"><st1laceType w:st="on">land</st1laceType> of <st1laceName w:st="on">Cluny</st1laceName></st1:place> the Scourge forever!”<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Felldoh cried, “Badrang too!” He stuck out his paw, and looked at the others. “Together?”<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Matthias nodded, and, smiling, placed his paw with Felldoh’s. “Aye, together.”<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Brome mimicked them, placing his hand on top of Felldoh’s. “As I did before, I pledge my help and the help of those in Noonvale.”<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Jake placed his hand on Brome’s paw, grinning, and said, “For Freedom!”<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Felldoh gave Jake a funny look, and asked, “Why are you fighting for freedom? You weren’t slaves, where you come from, were you?”<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Jake shook his head. “No, but the Dark Dragon wants to enslave all humankind, and take over the world.”<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Felldoh’s fists shook as he remembered his time in <st1:place w:st="on"><st1laceType w:st="on">Fort</st1laceType> <st1laceName w:st="on">Marshank</st1laceName></st1:place>. Eyes stained with tears, he said, “Yeah, that’s why I’m fighting, too. Badrang the Tyrant enslaved my father and I; and I’m going to make sure he’ll never make anybody a slave ever again!”<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Matthias placed a paw on Felldoh’s shoulder. “Peace, Felldoh. We shall slay Badrang.” Felldoh relaxed slightly under the mouse’s paw. Brome approached his friend, and hugged him tightly.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Felldoh began to cry, almost uncontrollably, as he hugged his friend back. Wiping his face, he muttered, “I know, Matthias, I know.” Turning towards the cave, he said, “Let’s make camp. It took us a couple of weeks to get up here, so we night as well take a well-deserved rest.”<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
As the others set up, Felldoh sat down on the ledge. Turning back, he said, “I’ll keep first watch.” He turned back and surveyed the beautiful valley that was outstretched in the distance, the creeping shadows made only by the light of the moon.
