Final Fantasy VII: Last Hope

Hey!! So you all know, this is my first full-fledged story. It's set in the same setting as FF7 and takes place about 7 months after what happens in Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children. It's not really a fanfic, though that depends on what your definition of a fanfic is. I'm using my own characters throughout the entire story. They will interact with the characters from the game a bit, but I'm not writing about the characters in FF7. These chars are all mine. I had originally planned this story to be it's own Final Fantasy. However, making an entire world setting is extremly difficult, and I was getting absolutly no where. So eventually, after reading Lady Aerith's spectacular story, I said "screw it" and decided to make it an add-on story to the FF7 world. There's nothing in here about the Love Triangle, so Cloti's, Clerith's, Clandria's, Clarrets, Clincents, Cluffies, and a few others are all welcome. I hope you enjoy this story as much as I enjoyed writing it. Updates will vary, since I have school and won't be able to write the story when I've got a project. Look for more of that during summer!

Chapter 1--A New Face

Zack had come to a conclusion: Being dead didn't deserve half the praise it got. In fact, he found it to be rather boring. Most of everyone he knew was still alive. They couldn't talk to him or see him, and could only do so under very special circumstances, and didn't happen often.

Of course, he could talk with others like him, except he considered making new friends with dead people was a sign of mental instability and overall just weird. Never mind that he was dead too. It just wasn't right.

He usually spent his time with Aeris, but she'd be gone doing......something. Exactly what, he wasn't sure. She'd tried to explain it to him before, but he just couldn't get it. Healing, planet, mind-talk, the usual stuff. But, she was gone. This left Zack with no one to talk to, and very little to do.

As he had nothing better to do, he usually hung out by his sword. It was on a cliff overlooking the ruined city of Midgar and the new town of Edge. The huge sword had been placed over the spot where Zack had died by his friend, Cloud. Despite the situation, Zack thought it was a very nice view from there. Today, he was doing nothing more than relaxing by his old sword and daydreaming.

Today, however, he was not alone. He eyed the person standing next to the half-buried sword, wondering who would come out to such a remote place.

To his surprise, it was a woman. She was tall, about 5' 8", in her early 20's and had long black hair that fell to her waist and was pulled back into a ponytail. A long strand of her hair framed one side of her face, coming down to her attractive jawline. She wore a dark purple, sleeveless shirt and black jeans. A pair of black gloves ended before the first joint of the fingers, leaving her long, slender fingers uncovered. She was strong; there was no denying the power of that slender body. Her face could only be described as ideal; there was no other word for it, besides perfect.

But what captured Zack's gaze were her eyes. Her eyes were violet. He had never seen such an eye-color before, and it was entrancing. So caught up was he, that he almost didn't notice the two crossed longswords on her back that she carried comfortably.

Standing before him, was the most beautiful and powerful women he'd ever seen. Zack wished he were still alive. He let out a low whistle. He wouldn't have done that had he been alive, for this women looked like she could kill him with utmost ease. As he was already dead, she couldn't see or hear him. Death did have it's perks.

Zack couldn't help but wonder anew at why a person like this would be here. He also couldn't shake the feeling that he'd seen her somewhere before.

Crystal studied the huge sword before her. She knew the sword. It had been a long time since she last saw it. What was it doing here? Was it even Zack's?

She looked out towards the ruins and the city built around it. It'd been a long time since she'd been here, too. A lot had happened while she was gone. And now, she has no idea as to what's going on, and how it happend.

Now, she needed information. Information that only a few people she knew of would have. One she hadn't seen for a very long time. The other she didn't want to see. But you can't be picky when you're in a situation like this. She had no other choice.

She rested one hand on the wide hilt of the Buster sword, oblivious to the fact that it's deceased owner was watching her. With her thumb, she rubbed away the grit, revealing the inscription 'Zack'. So it was his.

She looked back towards the city. "So tell me, Zack," she said, turning her head to look straight into Zack's shocked eyes. "What happened at the reactor in Niblehiem?"

Did you get this idea from Lady Aerith's fanfic?

Anyway, I liked it. I liked the transition from Zack's perspective into Crystal's. And I love how one of the main characters so far is Zack. He pwns. Good stuff so far.

Awesome! I'm glad you liked it!! Sorry it's so short though! I hope to have chapter 2 up by 2 days.

I didn't get this idea from Lady Aerith's fic. I've had this story goin' in my head for quite a while now. I just never had the inspiration to write it down. After I read her story, I got the inspiration to write it!!!

Ah. I thought I saw resemblance when you described Crystal as Tifa (or thats how I got it), and Aerith described her heroine (gah, can't remember the name) as Aerith.

Hm? Oh, you mean Andria and how she looks like Aerith?

And hm, I didn't know I was describing Crystal like Tifa. I've had the image of Crystal in my mind long before I ever read Lady Aerith's fanfic.

Lol. It was in Lady Aeriths art thread, it showed a picture of Andria and Cloud, and Andria looked identical to Aerith, but she had a masamune.

Well, I'm glad that you are enjoying it at least. But I'm sad to say that this story will end before it has started. I'm leaving these forums for good. I come here only to make DB's life a living hell. He can't IP ban me either. Ha!! If you wish to continue reading this story, you'll have to go to FinalFantasy Haven. The story continues there.
