I'll take my time to read this one since I must start from Chapter 1

Chapter 24: Betrayal

“You did what!” Vrael shouted at his father as he had just learned of what he did. “How dare you make a pact with those insects!”

“It was a wise decision my son, if you had the wisdom I possess then you would understand why I made this choice.” Emperor Liner said from his throne in his citadel castle.

“You did not even think to ask me what I thought old man.” Vrael said evilly “We could have crushed them and now they will amass their forces! Thanks to you we will most likely lose our most valuable men!”

“Be silent!” Liner shouted as loud as he could. “Child you treat me like some fool when it is I who has led this kingdom to the very top with just my wit and wisdom!”

The emperor stood and walked over to his window. He looked out to his city. “One day boy, this will all be yours to keep and maintain, but unless you learn to control yourself and to understand the actions of your consequence I can never allow this to happen.”

“You have no choice, this city will be mine and I will break this pact.” Vrael snarled. Liner chuckled

“And how do you plan to accomplish that hmm?”

“By killing you.” He then stabbed the man through the back with his sword. The man’s smile fell and he looked down to the sword impaling through his body. The light left his eyes and Vrael drew the blade out. “You should never have underestimated me fool.” He called his guards in. “He was a liability, we will tell the citizens he died naturally. Burn the body.”

He left the room once he had given the soldiers their orders.

“I liked that rug too.” Vrael thought as he looked back and saw the blood stained rug. He went into the war room and called to one of his men. “Bring him in.”

“Yes sir!” The soldier saluted before running into another room. After a few moments, three hooded figures came into the room. The one in the middle came to Vrael first. He knelt before him.

“My liege,” He had a strong yet gentle voice “my lord sends you his apologies, his man could not kill the Skylar boy.”

“How could that be? He is but one boy!” Vrael shouted angrily, of course the man did not falter, he had no emotions.

“There was another, a man from our world. He came and helped the boy, if it were not for him the boy would have died.”

“Lower your hood.” Vrael ordered him, the man obliged, he slowly lowered his hood. His face was not normal, it was contorted and mutilated, but that was not the worse of it. His eyes shone black, Vrael knew that all this was a side effect of having your emotions taken from you by force. Vrael’s face contorted in disgust. “What does your master propose?”

“Meet one of our best men my liege.” The man said moving sideways, one of the hooded figure was leaning against the desk, looking rather bored also which was strange. The man noticed he was being introduced and walked on over.

“Howdy boss.” The man said arrogantly “Yeesh, assassinations, this is like fuckin’ kinder garden for Christ’s sake.

“Who? Who are you?” Vrael asked, he was extremely perturned, they didn’t normally act this way.

“We got an echo in here or somat? Coulda sworn you said “who” twice. Anyway’s name’s Ardent. Looks like I’m stuck with you for a while.”

“You’re the one who has to kill Skylar?”

“Yup that’s me.”

“Go, just go.” Vrael said, he was getting a major headache.”

Fine, fine. See ya later emotionless creeps.” He waved to the two who were standing very still.

“Rene, Rene!” Someone shouted as Rene started to come to. “C’mon man wake up!” something wet hit him in the face and he shot right up fully awake.

“Knew that’d work.” Abby said smiling.

“Guess so.” Filden joked

“Wh-Where am I?” Rene asked.

“Outside the castle, looks like you were dragged here or something. What happened man?”

“I was coming back from the… Where’s Kara and Lily!” Rene finally remembered everything

“Those two girls? They’re in the castle having some supper.” Filden told him, standing up properly “Julius said it was only right that they at least have some dinner seeing as they told us you were here, well not here more like waaaay over there in the market”

“I need to see them.”

“What’s so important about them?” Abby asked “I mean I’ll admit that the older one is quite hot but still, you’ve got Faith.”

Rene wanted to burst out laughing, he leant back and gazed at the stars.

“They’re my sisters.” Rene finally told them. Abby gasped and Filden’s eyes widened

“Sisters!? I thought your entire family was… y’know… dead.” Filden said surprised.

“Way to be blunt about it Fil!” Abby scolded Filden. “That’s amazing Rene! C’mon! Shall we go and meet them?”

“Aye, let’s get goin’ then.” Rene smiled.

“Heya Kammy, how are ya?” The hooded man said as he stepped out of the portal. He was quite tall and had a soft Scottish accent.

“Riku? That you?” Kamui asked as he spun round surprised.

“Aye it’s me.” The man named Riku confirmed, he lowered his hood and smiled at his old friend. He had long silver hair and green eyes. He had a smooth handsome face yet he seemed to radiate sorrow.

“I thought you couldn’t leave Gaia? That He had taken your abilities.” Kamui asked.

“Kamui, He is dead. The entire order the of Angels gone with him.”

“No! That is impossible! How?” Kamui seemed to be on the verge of a breakdown.

“His right hand man, slew him.”

“No! Gabriel would never…”

“He was controlled, we dunno by who, but he killed Him then he killed himself.” Riku sighed. “You’re the last one Kammy.” Kamui paced the room, muttering incoherently to himself.

“The boy, Rene. He was saved by someone hooded, was that you?”

“Aye, I was tracking down a dark soldier who was sent to kill him in hopes that I could find out who he was working for. Turns out I got there in time, a minute later yer kid woulda been dead.”

“Thank you, he is a very important child. He is the key.”

“No! No way! That kid is THE key?”

“Yeah, we gotta protect him till he’s ready, if we don’t, well let’s just say all hell is gonna break loose.” Riku turned round and looked at his dark portal.

“I have to go, ever since I saved Rene someone’s been tracking me. I’ll carry on trying to find out who did this, good luck Kammy.” He left through the portal.

“Good luck Riku.”

“Give up Vrael!” Rene shouted as wind tore at his skin going past him. His sword was in hand, blood drying slowly on it’s metal. Around him, Filden stood, shuriken in one hand and a kunai in the other, Faith was floating several metres in the air, hands glowing through continuous use and Abby was stood behind them all healing them as much as she could. The other were outside trying to get in but Vrael had made this last stand for them and only them.

“You cannot defeat me! I CANNOT BE DEFEATED!” Vrael screamed, he floated high into the air and spun around.

“No! Don’t do it Vrael!” Faith shouted in fear. Rene readied himself for the final battle.

“Hey Rene!” Filden shouted, he looked over. “No matter what happens I just wanna say. Being your friend was the best goddamn thing to ever happen to me!”

“Don’t talk like that Fil! We’ll get through this!”

“How many times have I got to damn well say it! Don’t call me Fil!” Filden shouted but smiled widely as he did.

“Strength of darkness! Harbinger of evil! TAKE YOUR SACRIFICE AND OPEN THE DOOR WITH THE KEY!” Vrael shouted, he summoned as much energy as he could and threw it into the looming portal.

Everything flashed.

Rene was holding onto Faith’s arm. Filden was gone, Abby was gone. Everyone, gone, but he would not let that happen to Faith!

“You won’t die!” Rene shouted at the crying figure of Faith. “I won’t let you! Not after everything we’ve been through!” Faith body started to be pulled backwards and Rene strengthened his grip, she slipped but he managed to catch her hand. Everything seemed to be in slow motion. A tear fell from Faith’s eyes.

“I love you, no matter what Rene Skylar.” Faith sobbed even more and Rene couldn’t hold back anymore.

“I will not let you go!” Rene screamed

“I love you.” Faith let go of his hand and fell backwards heading towards the powerful sucking portal.

“NOOO!” Rene screamed.

Rene woke, “What the fuck?” Rene said to himself as he shout out of bed covered in sweat and tears. He looked at the hand he had supposedly held Faith’s in as she let go and disappeared. He looked to his left and saw the sleeping figure of Faith beside him. He leant back down and turned over to look at Faith. He sighed, today had been such a day, meeting his sisters introducing them to everyone. Faith went mental with joy. Lily and Kara were just so amazingly happy, they couldn’t believe the were staying in a castle and finally had a sort of proper family.

Rene smiled at Faith’s sleeping face and stroked her cheek. She stirred slightly and held his hand to her face. With his free hand he brushed some hair out of her face and kissed her forehead.

“I’d never let anything happen to you, I love you no matter what.” She let her hand go and got out of bed. He checked his cell phone and noticed it was only 2am. He sighed and grabbed his sword and gun. He decided he’d go and train for a while the head back to bed. Rene made his way to the gardens chatting with a few of the guards who were on night patrol.

Once he reached the gardens he drew his sword and practiced with that for a while, he performed a few complex manoeuvres and practiced drawing and firing his gun in the middle of one. After about an hour he say down and decided to practice some magick. Even though Kamui had told him not to practice magick on his own Rene was never one to follow rules. He sat down comfortably and summoned as much energy as he could muster. He put his right hand out subconsciously and channelled a small amount of energy into it. Instead of a small spark he managed to create a ball or fire. Rene smiled at his small achievement and managed to extinguish it. He practiced with fire a bit more until he was confident in using it. He decided to try something else. He remembered Kamui saying something about Neo-elementals. Apparently they can control Fire, Ice, Earth, Air, Water, Dark, Light and Non-elemental magicks.

Rene put out his right hand again and imagined blinding light in his head, he manipulated his energy into his right hand and felt it grow warm. He opened his eyes and saw a bright white light in his hand. He smiled, he controlled the light, he moved it around the garden lighting up various places. The light disappeared. He fell in exhaustion and it took him several minutes to get his breath back.

After collecting up his stuff he decided to go back to him room. Before he did that though he went for a shower, in fear that Faith would wake up and most likely have a go at him for going out so late and becoming extremely sweaty and smelly. After his wash he put on some cleans clothes and went back to his room. The light was on so he already knew he was in trouble. He opened the door slowly.

“Okay Faith I can explain.” he said as he went in. he was surprised to see that Faith didn’t immediately pounce on him, she was sat at a desk smiling at Rene.

“Don’t worry. I heard you leave and decided to see what you were up to. I saw you practice magick. It was… amazing.” Faith smiled. She walked over to him and planted a soft kiss against his lips. Next time wake me up and I’ll come with, I haven’t used my powers for ages and I’m starting to get the feeling of too much energy.

Rene smirked, he kissed her back then lifted her up in one swift movement. “Maybe tomorrow. How abut we go to sleep. I’m knackered.” Faith giggled and rested her head against his chest.

“I love you.” Faith told him as he took off his weapons and got into the bed.

Rene turned to Faith and smiled as he took off his top, shoes and socks and chucked them to the ground “I love you too and I always will. Promise. ”

That was an interesting dream Rene had there. Was that some foreshadow?? I don't wanna wait. In conclusion - another good chapter sir!

That sounds like a dark vision of the future coming Rene's way. I hope he takes this with a pinch of salt and not ignore it ... keep it coming!
