Bloodlust

Since the dawning of time, many people and creatures have been wandering the earth for their purpose, their goal in life. They think to themselves. What is their destiny? Why are they alive now? The answers are out there, but they have to go and find them. No one knows how long the earth has remained for. The cycle of life has been going on for billions and billions of years.

But in every light, there is darkness just as well as there is a light in every darkness. Where there is good, there is evil. Where there is evil, there is good. But what happens when those two alignments become intertwined together? What happens when one keeps switching between these alignments?

One of the most terrifying types of monster nowadays are vampires. They crave for blood. They want to kill the world and turn them into pure vampires. Yet where there are pure vampires, there are impure vampires. One of these impure vampires is a two hundred and something year old named Kira. Although she fights for those who cannot defend themselves, she is one to crave blood.

She has been fighting for so many years now against evil monsters. Her journey has now taken her to New York City. But what lurks there? New York City is rumoured to be infested with supernatural monsters that threaten the existence of the world. Will Kira be able to fight them? Or will an old passion for evil turn her into the world's greatest enemy?

-----------------------------------

Prologue

New York City, New York, America, 2007

New York City, the place where many citizens and foreigners look at the State of Liberty for guidance. There are many people and things here. As the moon shone brightly upon the city on a typical Friday night, it was time for THEM to come out of their hiding places. Their faces were monstrous, almost inhuman, and hungry for blood – human blood, actually.

The grey clouds gathered in and the rain poured down from the skies. A young girl, possibly the age of seven or eight years old, ran through the dark alleyways. There was a terrified look expressed upon her face. But not far behind her, there were other footsteps following her and these footsteps sounded as if they were running, not walking.

Little did they know, someone was watching from above on a rooftop. A tall figure with long red hair stood there looking down at what was going on. Such an angelic breath could be heard from this person. This person was clearly a girl judging from her breathing and the way she was stood on that rooftop. A smile emerged from underneath the hooded coat that she was wearing.

“There are many things on the planet that decide its destiny,” she whispered. “They maybe completely normal, perhaps not as normal as some people would think. Lots of people come to New York for many different reasons. You know, the obvious ones. Getting hitched, focusing on their careers, perhaps even finding someone that they care for. My reason? Not quite sure yet, although I know it’ll unfold sooner rather than later. But I’m surprised there. I’m not exactly the most normal person in this sorry world.” She sighed and closed her eyes as the young girl that was running away had come across a dead end. The young woman sighed and thought to herself. This started over two hundred years ago … before I was named … Kira.

-----------------------------------

London, England, 1745

A young woman, strongly resembling the one that had once stood on the rooftop in New York, cried over and over as she had been thrown to the floor. A big and noble man stood there at the doorway glaring down and sneering at her.

“You will never become someone,” he said darkly. “You will rot without me, Anna.”

The woman, who was indeed called Anna, looked up angrily at this man; he was actually her father. “You cannot just leave me like this!” she shouted, and lowered her head in guilt. “This is not right, father! It was not my fault! I did not do it! Please! Can we not talk of this?”

“You are a disgrace to the family household name!” spat her father. “Never return here!”

As he slammed the door, Anna continued to cry as she hoisted herself back up on to her feet. She couldn’t stop breaking down about losing the trust of her father. Whatever the reason was behind her fallout with him was unknown.

And so weeks and months passed. Anna somehow found herself working at an inn. She watched men get drunk every night and get thrown out of there. It was not the best thing to do with her life, but what choice did she have? Having been humiliated, disgraced and losing hope by her father, Anna had to make some choices in her life.

Yet some choices she had not made were about to come to her. One fateful night changed her life forever. Anna was serving drinks to the men and watching as they were getting thrown out once they were drunk and posed a threat to the happy mood around the inn. Anna herself felt that she was never good with wooing men. She had always been the one to smile and act shy.

“Anna,” whispered her fellow worker, Marianne. “Look, you have an admirer.”

“Marianne! We could be caught by the innkeeper!” muttered Anna.

“Come now, Anna,” she giggled. “Who would not like that man in the corner?”

Anna saw that a man had kept eyeing her in a dark corner of the inn. She tried to avoid his gaze, but she felt that he was the first one that she had ever fallen for. It may have been lust, not love. But Anna now herself did not seem to notice herself that she was falling under a spell.

“Marianne,” she said. “Would you mind if one could have a moment to herself?”

“Of course, Anna!” replied Marianne, who smiled and nodded. “You work very hard every single day and night. Why would I refuse this opportunity to you?”

Anna smiled shyly and weakly. She went outside feeling uncomfortable, but this man had gotten up to his feet and began to follow her. Anna heard him coming. She walked a little faster into a dark place in the village when he eventually caught up with her.

“You should not really be working in such a dirty place,” he said. “And neither should you go around the village unprotected. These are dangerous times, madam.”

“Who are y-you?” whispered Anna.

To her surprise, this man just laughed. “You have never heard of me?” he said, looking deeply into her eyes. “I have travelled the world, but I have never seen a maiden such as pretty as yourself.”

“Thank you, noble sir,” said Anna, doing a courtesy. “Please, I must return to the inn and –”

“No, please,” he said, stopping her from leaving. “I love your eyes, they are so dreamy. I beg of you, please do not leave. A pretty maiden should be protected in dangerous times such as these. Allow me to escort you back to the inn, madam.”

“You … a-are noble indeed,” smiled Anna weakly.

“Noble and powerful,” whispered the man in her ear. “Please call me … Felony.”

“Felony,” she murmured, staring into his eyes.

“Yes, yes, my maiden,” whispered Felony again. “I could show you much more than this pathetic village. There are better places than this in the world, fair maiden. Come with me and I can show you it all … the world is at our hands.”

Anna couldn’t control herself. This was more than a spell, or so she thought. This was love and she felt it so much. Her eyes closed and she just lowered her head smiling. “Show me,” she said. “Show me your world, show me what you see.”

“Very well, madam,” hissed Felony, whose face had turned disfigured. His eyes were yellow, fangs were seen and he was breathing loudly. He whispered in her ear. “The pain only lasts for a moment.”

“What pain?” said Anna, but then she cried out.

It is time for me to end this now, thought Felony, and so he sunk his fangs into her neck. He began to suck her blood: for he was a vampire.

Anna cried and cried over and over. This pain was much more than the pain she felt when her father had thrown her out of her home. She tried to push him away, but he was too strong for her. She was his next and latest victim. As she felt her blood being sucked and drunk, Anna lost all her feelings of humanity. Felony released her numb body and let her fall into the pool of blood that had been dripping from her neck.

Felony had a satisfied look on his face. His face turned back to that of a human and he licked his lips. “It seems that I have a new companion,” he whispered and picked up Anna. “Such a fair maiden … it was an honour to drink you, Anna.” He was now heading towards a small barn on the outskirts of London, near to Anna’s former home. She will willingly come to me for help when she arises once more.

New York City, New York, America, 2007

Kira, who resembled Anna, opened her eyes and put a hand to her forehead thinking to herself. Vampires don’t get migraines, do they? Well, I guess I just answered my own question. She looked to see that those chasing the girl had caught up to her. Pure vampires who claim that the world will be theirs one day are here now. How amusing.

The three “pure” vampires that had been chasing the girl had indeed finally caught up to the seven or eight year old girl. The girl still looked terrified as she hid behind a garbage bin. The three vampires just laughed at her fear.

“Too bad that she’s mine,” growled the blonde female vampire. “I’m the strongest and got us here, so I’m having her!”

“What? I’m the smartest!” yelled the silver-haired male vampire.

“Ah, shut up already!” shouted the last, which was a black-haired spiky male vampire.

“This girl won’t die tonight,” whispered the brave and determined voice of Kira.

She had arrived to the scene after jumping down from the rooftop she was once stood upon. Kira stepped into the spot where the moon was shining and so, her appearance was revealed. She was a tall and slim young woman appearing to be in her mid twenties, had long red hair and mysterious red eyes. She was wearing a short black coat with a fur hood, a purple t-shirt, dark blue jeans and trainers. Kira growled at the sight of the “pure” vampires.

“Who the hell are you?” shouted the black-haired spiky male vampire.

He ran at her wearing his vamp face and tried to attack her. However, Kira was too quick. She ducked waiting for him to jump into the air with his swinging kick and then she simply watched as he tumbled to the ground again. Although he had fell to the ground, vampires were very invulnerable to normal pain. Before he had a chance to rise again, Kira had struck him in the heart with a stake.

“That’s for me to know and you to find out!” she shouted, as his entire body turned into dust. She turned to the other two vampires. “Does anyone else want to have a go?”

In the meantime, the young girl looked curiously at Kira. But that stopped when she screamed when the two vampires tried attacking the redhead. Kira, in turn to this, seized the opportunity to take advantage of this direction. She kicked the silver-haired vampire out of the way, whilst grabbing hold of the blonde one and thrusting her into the wall. Once that was done, she grabbed a metal pole and stuck it in her heart. She too turned into dust. Now her attention was focused on the silver-haired one.

“Too bad,” he growled angrily. “You nearly had me there.”

“Nearly? Don’t tell me you’re about to play chicken and run away,” stated Kira.

“N-No! Of course I’m not, I –”

“Pu-lease, this is getting boring already.”

But the silver-haired vampire had already run off. Kira growled at the prospect and thought to herself. Damn it! I guess it’s time to test my new weapon and see what the bloody hell happens. She took out a black crossbow and then shot it directly at him. He cried out in pain and looked back to Kira.

“GO TO HELL!” he angered. But then he fell and turned to dust.

Kira calmed down herself a little and put the crossbow away hidden inside her black coat. She turned to the little girl who had been scared all this time and closed her eyes.

“You can come out now,” said Kira. “It’s ok, they’re gone now.”

“Are you telling the truth?” asked the little girl.

Kira chuckled to herself. “Of course I am,” she said. “Take a look for yourself.”

The young girl came out from behind the garbage bin and saw that they were gone. A smile came to her face. “Thank you,” she whispered.

“If you don’t mind me asking, why were you out here at this time of night?” asked Kira.

“Oh, I was, um … I … had an argument with my … s-sister,” mumbled the girl.

“Well, get home as soon as you can,” advised Kira. “More might be on their way.”

“You look pretty tough!” exclaimed the girl and smiled. “Are you a vampire hunter?”

“Let’s say I’m someone trying to make up for mistakes in the past,” she answered.

As she walked past the comic store, the girl was shocked to see that her saviour and hero did not have a reflection.

“Is she … is she an angel?” she whispered lowly.
