I’ve been busy but I finally managed to read this.

I love the classic Final Fantasy feel of this story and art style. I like the combination of fantasy / classical mythology with some sort of (presumed at this time) cosmic threat with the dark stars. I’m intrigued to find out what the dark stars are. There’s something Lovecraftian about the mystery behind them even if they end up being terrestrial beings! I suspect we'll find out more in later volumes.

I’ve complimented the beautiful artwork in your other thread, but on top of that I also found this to be well-written! There was generally the appropriate amount of text on each page for a graphic novel format. Some people try to overwrite their comics, but you have enough text to tell the story and avoid going overboard. In many panels the images tell the story for you.

As an ancient history graduate with an interest in mythology, I praise the allusions with character names such as King Cadmus, as well as references to the Chiron-like instructive nature of some centaurs in your lore (as opposed to only focusing on their often brutal nature).

Thank you for posting this here, and I look forward to volume 2!

I think more people here should check this out if they haven’t already. :)

The music alone pulled me in. Great website you have there. :)

The artwork reminds me of Amano, it's awesome really. Which Final Fantasy game influenced this whole project?

I'm excited to read Volume One; thanks for sharing this with the community!

It is nice when one follows one's dream. Fabulous artwork. I just wish there was a link to your Kickstart page located somewhere on your website. It would help so that people don't have to go searching for it.

Good Luck,

But I believe that sending a private message to redcloud9 on here might still get you a pdf copy of the first volume if you give your e-mail address.

Thanks to everyone for their comments and encouragement! The first volume is the process of being fine-tuned for publishing but I would certainly be happy to send you the volume to read if you PM you email address. I am doing some extra artwork for volume 1 and volume 2 is underway. I would certainly be flattered to keep you guys informed. I will also be posting updates on my facebook page.

Thanks for the 'review'! Its great when something you worked on resonates with someone else, especially when they point out things you really set out to accomplish!

The dark stars are definitely a mystery, a big one at that, so I cant even hint at something...maybe I can say their mystery is tied to the fate of the main characters. I really tried to find a good balance between text and pictures. You want to tell your story but it is a visual medium so sometimes I would imagine music playing as in a cutscene and would think, do I want people talking over this? If you keep explaining things the chance is the reader will feel nothing and I really wanted to tell a story that had moments of stillness and reflection.

I am also a history graduate and teacher so I wanted to include some small references at least. King Cadmus and the centaurs are great observations! The centaurs have quite a large role in the story further on and they certainly have an instructive and wise nature...but their animal and dangerous side will play a role too ;)

Anyway, thanks heaps for your support and commenting on these aspects...

As to what Final Fantasy influenced my story the most...hmmmm....that's a tough one...I wanted the initial setting not be too complicated and more old school...so Final Fantasy 4 in that regard...I wanted it to have the emotional depth of let's say Final Fantasy X...which really developed its characters...and the intro to the story was influenced by Final Fantasy Tactics. There you go!

Here is a preview for Volume 2 of my graphic novel! If anyone wants to throw some ideas my way, feel free!

Excellent preview image. :)

Again, I really love the use of centaurs and that you are covering both kinds of them (instructive and bestial/warlike).

Can't wait to see more from Volume 2.

Hi guys,

Take a look at the world map for my graphic novel. The style and technique I used on it was inspired by some late medieval maps.

That's a great map. I'd say it achieves the medieval character: packed with detail, colourful, and with the occasional animal. It even has an appropriately placed sea monster / giant squid!

Nice job.

Hey guys, I was really pleased to see the FF forum reminding me of unicorn day lol Really appreciate it!
