An overview of the game was provided by Square Enix:
The game has just launched in Japan with separate PS4 and 3DS versions. A Switch version is said to be in the works for Japan, though this is yet to be shown or dated. Nor is there a word on a Switch version for the west. The highly anticipated latest entry to the beloved Dragon Quest video game franchise follows the adventure of a hero who must solve the mystery of his fate with the aid of a charming cast of supporting characters. Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age will offer a world of adventure, exploration and instances of heroism— all brought to life by the character art of famed manga artist Akira Toriyama and the memorable music of composer Koichi Sugiyama.
Further details on this game's western release will be disclosed come later this year. For now, here is series creator Yuji Horii's message to fans. As you can deduce when you examine the subtitle options for this video, the game will be translated into five languages: English, French, German, Spanish and Italian, which will be a monumental task for a project so heavily steeped in text.
