Ah Squall. A character that is misunderstood by a good number of people even to this day. A character that an outside person could easily define as "emo", but I think that is very far from the truth that I have come to believe. If anything, Squall was a lone wolf type of character. Despite being looked up too by many around him, he just wanted to be left alone. He for sure struggled socially, and I can understand that. When you're going on SeeD missions, you never know who is going to live or die. So why bother getting attached to people in the first place. Even doing the simplest things such as expressing one self emotional, was a struggle for him.

By the time disc 2 rolls around toward the end, we can see some changes in Squall. It's hard for me to say if I should give Rinoa all of the credit on it. He stepped up and played as an active leader when Balamb garden was being attacked by having members locate themselves in various areas. While he wasn't super thrilled about the position at the time, he still did what he had to do. He started to open up more and actually relied on others for some help here and there. The once cold and distance Squall was changing.

In terms of combat when the RNG gods feel like blessing Squall, he is one of the most deadly characters in the series. Renzokuken (5 - 8) + Lionheart (16 hits) = 21 - 24 strikes.

That is quite a good explanation you just posted there. Looks like you know alot about the character and his story very well. Do you care to join the club?

Sure. I wouldn't have anything new wise though to offer until the Dissidia title comes out for PS4 though QQ.

I just added you to the member list. Welcome to the club! Are you a big fan of Squall? What do you like about him the most?
I'm a fan of FFVIII in general, but I can't say that I'm a big fan of Squall since there characters in the game I like more. What I like most about Squall is that I can relate to him and his situation for the most part. The Gunblade is one of the most ridiculous, yet iconic and epic, weapons in the entire franchise imo.

I find Squall story quite interesting because it talks about his childhood and how he became a Seed member. His personality is one of the things that I like about him because of the way he expresses to the people. That's what makes him different from other characters from the series.

Wasn't his childhood mainly briefly talked about due to the drawback of using GFs?

I'm not sure if that was the case of his childhood been revealed in different parts of the game. He remembers his childhood when he went to Edea's House. He was in a orphanage. I don't think that the GF would be the reason for that memory to be talked about.

What I am trying to get across is that the GFs caused the cast members to lose memories. Far as I recall, Irvine had the best memory since he hadn't been using them as long as the rest of the cast. Perhaps I'm not giving Squall enough credit for remembering things from his childhood.

Ahhhh...Men at Arms. Their Gunblade build is so epic:

Yeah they did a great job making it. I always dream to see a real Gunblade been made and it came true. I knew that it was possible to make one. I which I had it as a collection item. Who knows how much it will cost in the future.

Probably a crap ton of money, especially if the time ever comes that Final Fantasy games stop being made. I believe the trigger was suppose to make the Gunblade vibrate, which would increase the damage dealt. The only thing that I still scratch my head on is how its durable enough to withstand all that movement without falling apart.

The reason why it doesn't fall apart is because it was well forged. The way it was built and the metal they use to build it, I doubt it would fall apart. The Gunblade is my personal favorite weapon in the whole Final Fantasy series. I fell in love with it when I saw it for the first time when I played the demo of Final Fantasy VIII back in 1999. It's a new type of weapon that made the game feel different from the other Final Fantasy games because of the Gunblade.

That makes sense in a Fantasy outlook lol. Do you have a favorite gunblade, or do you not have a preference? I personally can't decide which one is my favorite to be honest with you.

That is a good question. It is a tough choice to select a Gunblade as a favorite because of the different models there are. If I have to choose one of them I would say the Lionheart hands down. The reason why I chose it as my favorite of all the Gunblades is because the way the blade is designed and the colors it has. As for the revolver, the thing I like about it is the lion carved into the blade.

That alone makes the original Gunblade look incredibly cool. It also matches perfectly with his outfit which is a plus.
