Name:
Degra

Name amongst Khan: 'Looks at the Lotus'

Race: Khan (Weretiger)

Gender: Female

Age: 223 years

Appearance

As a Khan, Degra has a number of different forms, each one a stage towards assuming the form of an actual tiger. They are as follows:

Homid: This is Degra's human form. She retains the appearance of someone in their mid-to-late twenties. Much of her head is bald, but along the center she has a strip of long black hair that is brushed down over her left side reaching down to the base of her neck (Basically a mohawk that is brushed down the side of her head as opposed to sticking up). Her skin is a light brown colour and she has slightly large eyes that are dark green in colour. She stands at a little over five and a half foot but her body is lean and athletic, weighing in at about 140 to 150 pounds. Much of her body is covered in various tattoos, all in black, depicting intricate paterns.

(Note: Degra's attire is something that will change in various RPs and RPBs. What follows is the attire for the upcoming RPB tourney.)

Degra's attire is somewhat similar to that of the Mohawk people. Her upper body is partially wrapped in strips of brown cloth, giving her an almost flat-chested look. Other than this, her clothing consists of a brown loin cloth and a pair of buckskin boots with soles made from buffalo skin. The boots reach up to just beneath her knees and, along the top, have various coloured threads stitched in a decorative pattern. A few threads hang loose, and have beads attached to them.

Whilst she wears very little clothing, the tattoos inked all over her body make her look considerably less naked.

Sokto: In this form, Degra partially reveals her identity as a Khan. Her height now reaches just over six foot and she has also bulked up considerably, mostly around her thighs and shoulders, and weighs just over 180 pounds. Her hands and feet have also grown, now looking slightly out of proportion to the rest of her body, and the nails now turned black and sharpened into claws an inch long. They have also become more padded, becoming more resistant to the climate and allowing her to walk comfortably barefooted on almost any surface. She now has bright yellow eyes, and several of her teeth have sharpened into fangs that are about an inch and a half long.

In this form, it is still possible to pass as a human with the right kind of concealment, but she rarely ever has reason to. She still retains the attire from her Homid form, but she removes the boots for more comfort. Her hair also stays the same.

Crinos: You could say that this form is the half way point between her human form and her tiger form. In this form, she now reaches up to seven and a half foot and her body has bulked up even more, her weight increasing to just under 300 pounds. She has grown a layer of fur all over her body in this form, orange with black stripes. However, the most noticable change is that of her head. It is now no longer the shape of a human's head. It resembles that of a tiger, only far more monstrous. She still has the same hair, but now it only reaches to her cheek. She no longer has any clothing in this form.

Her claws and fangs have also grown considerable larger. Her claws are two inches long, and her fangs three inches.

Chatro: In this form, Degra looks truly monstrous. Her body has now morphed to a point where it is no longer possible to walk on two feet. Should she rear up on her hind legs, she would reach a height of slightly over eight foot, and she now weighs about 350 pounds. Her fur has grown thicker in this form. The best way to describe her now, would be to say that she is a gigantic sabretoothed tiger. Again, her claws and fangs have grown even bigger, this time with a much more enlargened pair of fangs that protrude from her upper jaw. Her claws are now four inches long and her fangs five inches, with the exception of her 'sabreteeth' which are both the length of a short sword.

Her hairline now runs down the length of her back as well as her head. Her hair has more likeness to a mane in this form.

Feline: This is her full tiger form. Basically, she resembles a regular tiger, only she has a far more commanding presence. Should one observe her socialising with other tigers in this form, one would notice she assumes a far more authorative role. It is impossible to distinguish her from any regular tiger, however, unless she was observed for several days. However, fellow Khans and tigers know what she really is, and there have been cases where other werebeasts have been able to tell what she is through certain gifts they possess.

Personality

Degra isn't one for showing a wide set of emotions. Outwardly, for the most part, she is usually stern and cold towards others. Often, she is rather short tempered. But she is very conserved and in control of her emotions. She has an uncanny ability to remain cool even under a lot of pressure, and is never one to get riled up over taunts or insults. However, things such as dishonour and dishonesty do get on her nerves quite a lot.

Should one get to know Degra, however, they would find that she is a rather passionate woman. A devout warrior of Gaia, she is dedicated to bringing an end to Asura and his minions. Sometimes it feels like a lost cause. Throughout those times, she is often quite depressed and angry, but she channels that towards achieving something positive and ends up feeling all the better for it.

She is strong minded, stubborn and determined. She has never backed down from any task, no matter how small her chances may seem. Degra is usually at her happiest when she is near accomplishing a goal.

Strength

(Please note that the damage comparison is at a target who is just an average human not wearing protection of any kind. Damage would be lessened according to whatever armour/enchantments/etc. her opponent may have in effect.)

Homid: In this form, Degra is at the peak of physical fitness for a woman in her prime.

Sokto: Degra is considerably stronger in this form, capable of lifting a man of average height and weight as if he was a child. A single blow, at her strongest, can knock out a person. Also, with considerable effort, she is able to rip off a person's limb.

Crinos: Again, Degra is even stronger in this form. One blow from her claws, with all her strength put into it, could rip off a person's arm, or crush a human's skull. She could lift a man of average height and weight as if he was a ragdoll, and is capable of lifting objects the equivalent of a car and throwing it a distance of ten meters. Her jaws are capable of chewing through steel without any damage to her fangs.

Chatro: This is Degra's strongest form. Her jaws are capable of tearing through steel as if it was leather and a single blow from her claws could rip a man in half should all her strength be put into it.

Feline: Degra has the same strength as any other tiger would.

Vitality

Homid: In this form, Degra has the vitality of a woman in her prime. She can take a few punches from an average human and only feel slightly groggy. She has no special tolerance against magic of any kind.

Sokto: Degran can withstand considerably more physical damage in this form. She can shrug off any blow that would leave a normal human knocked out and/or with severe concussion. Again, she has no tolerance against magic in this form.

Crinos: Capable of withstanding slightly more punishing attacks in this form, Degra also develops more of a tolerance towards magic. For example, a fire attack that would inflict a third degree burn in her Sokto form (As in charring of the skin, etc.) would only inflict blistering in this form. (The more prolonged the burning, the more severe the blistering.)

Chatro: Degra can withstand more damage in this form. In order to knock her out, it would take a boulder being thrown at her head. Her tolerance towards magic remains the same as in Crinos form.

Feline: Degra has the same resistance to physical and magical attacks as a normal tiger would.

Speed

Homid: Degra is as swift and agile as a woman in her prime who has undergone several years of martial arts training.

Sokto: Degra is more agile in this form, capable of reacting to attacks that no average human could. Should a study be undertaken, one would discover that Degra is capable of dodging a bullet shot from five meters away if she moved at the exact second the trigger was pulled. One would also discover that Degra can run a distance of 100 meters in just under ten seconds.

Crinos: Same as Sokto form, though reaction time is slightly slower. She wouldn't be able to dodge a bullet shot from ten meters away unless she moved before the gun was fired. Though, she could had the gun been fired from a distance of ten meters.

Chatro: Degra's running speed in this form reaches as fast as 70mph. However, her agility isn't half of what it is in her Crinos and Sokto forms. Due to her immense size, it is extremely difficult to dodge attacks in this form.

Feline: Running and movement speed the same as any other tiger.

Stamina

(Note that her stamina is dependent on when she transforms and under what circumstances. For example, if she is exhausted in her Homid form then a transformation into Sokto would pretty much just have her feeling like she woke up from a restful sleep. In that case, her stamina would be that of her Homid form when fully rested.)

Homid: In this form, Degra is at the peak of physical fitness for a woman in her prime.

Sokto: Plus one third from her Homid form.

Crinos: Double that of her Homid form.

Chatro: Double that of her Crinos form.

Feline: Same as any other tiger.

Fighting Style

Degra's fighting style is quite varied. She has trained extensively in martial arts, opting for the style favoured in her homeland, Pencack Silat. It is a style adapted to kill and maim opponents and consists of throws, takedowns, strikes, acrobatics, and also incorporates the use of various weapons. This is mostly apparent when fighting in her Homid and Sokto forms. However, her tactics take a far more brutal approach when in her Crinos form.

In her Crinos form, she usually disregards her axes and goes in unarmed, employing the gifts she had been granted and making good use of her lethal jaws and claws. She favours fighting in either her Sokto or Crinos forms as they offer more strength and agility.

Her fighting style in her Chatro form is very different. Think along the lines of fighting a huge beast. Rather than employing any strategic manouvres, Degra simply aims to maim and kill by using her claws and fangs.

Weapons

Axes: Degra is armed with two hand axes, both identical to one another. They are made from steel and the blades are sharpened to a very find edge. The blades are imbued with a spirit energy that renders them indestructible though the hilts are only made from wood and bound in leather, so if they're broken then the axes are pretty much useless. Degra mostly uses these in her Homid and Sokto forms as they look little more than toys in her Crinos form and she is uncomfortable using them in that form.

The spirit energy contained within the blades allow for elemental changes. The blades can take on the form of flames capable of inflicting third degree burns (or worse if under prolonged contact), ice that would partially freeze a point of contact if directly hit (for example, if a direct hit landed in the middle of someone's forearm, it would be frozen from their wrist up to their elbow), or stone that massively increases the bludgeoning effect of the weapon at a sacrifice to penetration.

Abilities

Throughout her life, Degra had developed abilities specific to her becoming a Khan. These are refered to as 'Gifts', as such abilities have always been granted by spirits that have maintained strong ties with Gaia. Spending much time in the Umbra (Shadow World), Degra had encountered many of these spirits and had earned their wisdom.

Shifting: This ability allows Degra to transform between her various forms at will. However, it works in an almost clockwork manner. For example, if she wished to transform into her Chatro form, she would have to progress through her Sokto and Crinos forms. It is a rather painful transformation, shifting between forms, but now it has become one of those things where she can function properly feeling little more than a couple of stretched muscles.

The Rite of Talisman Dedication: This ability allows Degra to retain her clothing when shifting back into her Homid or Sokto forms. Upon shifting into Crinos, rather than tearing through her clothing, her clothes simply 'melt' into her fur. Upon shifting back into Homid or Sokto it reappears in a similar fashion, only in reverse.

Killer's Leap: An ability that enables Degra to cover long distances in a single leap. It takes as much exertion as one would feel from taking a running long jump. Standing still, Degra is able to leap over a distance of ten meters. However, from a running leap, Degra can cover distances of up to fifty meters.

Skin of Jade: Willing herself solid, Degra's skin takes on the hardness of jade. She can withstand three times as much damage as her current form, but it comes at a sacrifice to her speed. Her movement speed is lowered by almost a quarter. (This ability lasts throughout the following two posts I make and wears off at the start of my third, and can't be used again until I have made another six posts.)

Rhino's Favour: By calling on the spirit of the Rhino, Degra is granted a horn that appears temporarily over her nose. While it is a rather unslightly protrusion, it comes in handy as an additional weapon. She may go in for an attempt to gore someone, but very rarely. The reason being she has no reinforced skull so the recoil could be pretty fatal to herself. Nontheless, it can be put to deadly effect through headbutting or even making swipes with it. (This lasts up until Degra decides to dismiss this ability, but once dismissed it cannot be used again. The ability can also only be used in her Crinos and Chatro forms.)

Wearing The Bear's Skin: By calling on the spirit of the Bear, Degra is granted a layer of protective energy; almost like an invisible armour. When put into effect, one could see a ghostly bear materialise behind Degra and embrace her before seeming to disappear. However, this doubles up as a boost to her strength as well as her defense. (Both her strength and defense increase two fold and the duration of this effect and its 'recharge' time are the same as that of her Skin of Jade ability.)

Paws of The Raging Spirit Tiger: By channeling her chi energy through this Gift, Degra may wreath her paws or hands in crackling spirit power. Thus fortified, Degra can rip through most enemies with ease, and causing serious damage to any other foe. (This lasts for three posts from myself and requires a recharge period of an additional three posts from myself.)

Dragon's Roar: Bellowing like a thunderclap, Degra vomits a ball of fire at her opponent. On impact, the fireball explodes; setting alight anything flamable within a two meter radius and delivering an impact 'shockwave' within a five meter radius. The shockwave is capable of staggering any normal person within that radius, even flooring them if they haven't braced themselves. (This requires a recharge period of three posts from myself.)

Elemental Blast: By summoning up a tremendous amount of energy, Degra can channel the force from the spirits imbued within her axes to form a great ball of energy. This ball of energy takes on the form of a boulder twice the size of a football/soccer ball. The boulder is engulfed in flames, and sparks fly from it. Also, tentacles of ice wind around it. Degra then throws it towards her opponent with amazing strength and speed. She also has control over the blast, but only has a maximum of three turns before it explodes with a blast radius of 10 meters, unleashing the force of the four elements in a mass of flames, shards of ice and stone and jolts of electricity. If this ball hits her opponent, it would cause serious damage, and even the explosion would cause some serious damage if her opponent is within the 10 meter radius. (This ability can only be used once per battle and also completely depletes the elemental energy within her axes until her next battle.)

Ricepaper Walk: Through maintaining a lot of focus, Degra is capable of treading along extremely fragile surfaces such as sheets of thin glass, or even over water. The effect looks similar to that of what you would see in a shaolin kung fu movie. However, should her focus be directed elsewhere, the ability will lose its effect instantly.

ORP Abilities

Regeneration: Overtime, Degra's wounds will slowly knit themselves together. This ability also has the capacity to replace lost limbs though, needless to say, won't be able to regrow heads. The time required to heal a wound can take any time from a few minutes to a couple of days. A deep gash, for example, would take an hour to heal whilst travelling. However, whilst resting it will take less than half that time. Regenerating limbs is an incredibly painful process and requires Degra to rest for atleast a whole day before being fighting fit again.

History

(Copied and pasted from the original bio for now, but I need to update this sometime soon. I think some of it might contradict with the revisions I have made so far.)

-Before going on to Degra’s personal history, I’m just gonna write some info about Anthrotigers and the Khan.-

Most Khan love company, though they can’t stand being in the company of another Khan for too long. They also despise werewolves, vampires, the Asura, Formori and other demons. This is why the Khan are so near extinction, by having too many of the wrong kinds of enemies. The Khan are fearless warriors who throw themselves into any kind of battle, and they often attack head-on. A Khan loves to have companions, and who would deny a tigers friendship? The Khan’s main weakness is that they are too trusting, and they are too sure of themselves.

In the mountains of Tibet, Siberia and China, these werecats learned subtle magicks and even martial arts; many a mountain tiger can quote Taoist philosophy at length.

In ages past, the tiger tribe wandered though emperor' courts and hermits' caves. They walked mountain roads with Buddhist monks and peasant girls, and chased the ghosts from temple ruins. Most preferred to remain in their powerful cat forms, but spoke with the tongues of sages. The powers of the elements burned in their paws, and they kept the hated werewolves at bay. The Silver Fangs and Shadow Lords struck pacts with the sultans, but no such bargains kept the tigers and vampires apart. That hatred, which simmered for 5,000 years, proved the Khan's undoing.

The slaughter of the true tigers has not helped either. Human hunters killed them in such numbers that the great cats themselves court extinction. Between the loss of their Kinfolk and the wars with vampires, Asura and their own kind, the Khan are an endangered breed. To avoid further risks, most weretigers have scattered across the world. Moving targets are harder to kill. After the fall of the ancient sultanate, the Khan have no true leaders, so each one fends for herself. It's a whole new world for an ancient tribe, and tigers seem to be peacefully enjoying the view. For now.

Degra’s personal history

Degra is a lone traveller who seeks and destroys any vampires, demons, and the Asura. She is wise for one of her kind, but not the cleverest of werebeasts. She prefers to be alone, though she welcomes most others to travel with her. She was not always an Anthrotiger however, and it all began when she was only 23.

She had once lived in a small village in the woods. It was a very religious place, and they worshipped tigers, and they praised the only known Anthrotiger who is a god to them. He was known as Ajit, which meant ‘invincible’ in their native language. It was on one night, when Degra was taking a walk through the woods, a tiger appeared in front of her. Degra was amazed, and scared at the same time. However, she somehow knew it wouldn’t attack her there and then. It walked up to her slowly, letting out a long purr with a slight hint of a growl behind it.

Degra went down on her knees and bowed to the tiger. The tiger stopped and looked at her. Degra was startled when it spoke to her. “Degra, come with me…” it said.

Degra obeyed and followed the tiger deeper into the woods. It seemed as if time had stood still, there was no sound what so ever, and there wasn’t even a breath of wind. The moonlight filtered in-between the thick canopy of the leaves above, and it gave the place a magical look. Patches of silver were all over the soft earth where the moonlight found gaps in the trees. She followed the tiger in stunned silence, not even aware of where they were going. They finally came to a clearing in the woods and the tiger leaped up onto a rock that protruded from the earth.

The tiger looked at Degra for some time, as if looking into her mind. “I know you have many questions to ask right now, and I shall answer them.” he said.

“Firstly, I am Ajit. I am the first of the Anthrotigers, and I have come to you because Gaia has chosen you. You are prophesised to be the one who shall bring an end to the evil of this world. It is you who shall bring the Children of Gaia together…” explained the tiger.

Degra didn’t know what to say. She just stood there, looking at Ajit. He had answered the questions she wanted to ask, but that only brought up more questions. Ajit leaped back down from the rock and circled Degra. “Sleep…” he said.

Degra was suddenly overcome with a drowsiness, and within seconds she was in a deep sleep. When she woke up, it was daylight. She looked around to find that Ajit had disappeared. She felt weird, when she stood up she was dizzy, and she felt as though she had been lifting weights for the last few hours, though she didn’t look in the slightest bit different.

She went back to the village. It was destroyed. Dead bodies littered the ground, and they all seemed to be torn to pieces. Ajit was the first thing that popped up in her mind. She screamed in anger and she ran away from the village, tears flowing freely from her eyes. Somehow she knew where Ajit was, and she found him several hours after leaving her village.

Degra drew out her two axes and went into a fighting stance. Ajit just looked at her. “You will lose if you fight me Degra…” he said, closing his eyes.

Degra shook her head and glared at him angrily. “You killed my people!!” she screamed at him.

“That… Was not me…” said Ajit.

Degra lowered her axes. “Then who did?” she asked.

“It was the spawn of Asura… Destroyers, banes, unmakers…” said Ajit.

“Tell me where I can find the bastards…” said Degra.

Ajit leaped down in front of her, startling her. He growled at her. “You are not ready to fight yet Degra…” he snarled.

Degra looked at Ajit fearlessly. “Then teach me…” she answered coolly.

Ajit circled her again, but in silence. He made a sudden swipe at Degra’s legs and she leaped in the air and landed, facing him. That was when Degra first changed without realising. She had lost all her clothing, but instead she was covered in fur like that of a tiger, and she was a lot bigger. Ajit also changed, but this time into his human form. He had a spear as his weapon, but he made no move to attack.

Degra just stood there, breathing heavily. Ajit stood there, smiling. “Now you know what you are…” he said. “Now you must learn how to change forms at will.” He added.

Over the next few years, Ajit had taught Degra how to change between her five different forms. He taught her all she needed to know about what she had become, and what she must do to protect Gaia. On her travels, she had seen many other Anthrotigers like herself, though they never seemed to be friendly with one another. Ajit had said this was the way all the Khan were. They could hardly stand each other’s presence for too long, and they preferred to be alone.

One day, Ajit decided it was time to teach Degra the abilities he himself had been granted. He took Degra to a river in the woods. The river was fairly wide, but it was only just above chest height, and the current wasn't very strong. Degra looked at Ajit after he had explained what she must do. "You expect me to be able to walk across this river?" she asked.

Ajit closed his eyes and nodded. "Yes. You must fully concentrate on the task, and do not allow yourself to be distracted in any way." he explained.

Degra closed her eyes and took a deep breath before stepping on the water. To her surprise, it felt like she stepped on solid ground. However, this brief moment of surprise made her lose concentration. Her foot slipped into the water. Ajit watched. "Now, try it again Degra." he said.

Feeling more confident now, Degra tried again. This time, she reached the middle of the river. A fly started buzzing around her head, and Degra was distracted. She gasped as she fell into the river. She looked at Ajit, who was trying to suppress a smile. "That's the last time I'm trying that again!" she called to him.

Degra half swam, half waded out of the river while Ajit made a fire so she could get dry by. They both sat around the fire and talked.

"Degra, you have learned a gift that most of us can not. You shall be a great warrior among our kind, especially when the time comes..." he said. "Tomorrow, you shall learn how to use your elemental powers in battle, and I shall take you to the temple to visit the spirit of the rhino, and if he sees you are worthy, he shall grant you a gift. But for now, sleep. You have a long day ahead of you tomorrow..."

Degra lay on the floor, and a few seconds later, she fell asleep. Over the next few days, Degra went through a vigorous training period. She had been taken to the temple in the deserts, and there she was granted the ability to call upon the spirit of the rhino and receive a horn on her head for a short period of time. Ajit also taught her many useful abilities that she can use in battle, such as making her skin turn as hard as jade for a period of time, using her elemental powers like all the other Khan. She also learned how to channel her chi energy and use it in battle.

One night, after Degra had been taught everything Ajit knew, Degra and Ajit were resting in the woods. Their fire had long been extinguished, and everything was silent. Ajit was awake, as he always was most nights. Something disturbed him, and he didn't like it. He sensed that something was watching them. Ajit's hand hovered to his spear haft. Suddenly, he heard a noise, sounding a lot like laughter, though not human laughter. "The Ajaba..." he thought.

Degra woke up and looked at Ajit. "What's happening?" she asked.

Ajit explained all about the Ajaba, forsaken hyena-folk who have been cast out by all other tribes of werebeasts.

Then they attacked.

The Ajaba came in from all directions, trying to get at Degra and Ajit who fought in Crinos form, standing back to back. It seemed that the number of Ajaba was endless. Whenever one was killed, another two or three would take its place. After an hour of fighting, it seemed that they had almost killed off the werehyenas. Then, Ajit was attacked from behind, having been separated from Degra. He was knocked to the floor, and before he got a chance to get back up, a group of werehyenas pounced on him. Degra couldn't do a thing. She had to fend for herself, and just hope that Ajit could handle them.

However, the Ajaba kept leaping on Ajit, and they soon killed him. They turned to Degra, and they all began circling her.

Degra just stood there, staring at the earth. The Ajaba began closing in on her, but she made no move to attack. Suddenly, one of the Ajaba leaped at her. Degra grabbed the werehyena by the throat without even looking. She slowly raised her head and stared directly into the werehyena's eyes. Degra's eyes were a reddish colour, and she looked ready to explode in a fit of anger at any second. She snarled and squeezed her hand tighter around the werehyena's neck. Her claws penetrated the skin, and muscle in an explosion of blood.. The werehyena was unable to cry out, and it only made a gurgling noise as it writhed about in her grip. Degra squeezed tighter, breaking through the bone and the werehyena's head rolled off. Degra tossed the body to the other werehyena, and they immediately began fighting over the corpse of their old comrade and began eating it.

Degra didn't wait for them to finish. She charged the whole pack, unable to control herself. The last thing she remembered before slaughtering the werehyenas was seeing Ajit fall and get killed by them. Degra was really upset, and she set off on her own, having lost everything. She had no more family, and Ajit had been the closest thing to family she had, but now that's all gone. Degra decided to journey the world, destroying any evil she comes by. Degra became well known, though she couldn't reveal her true identity unless she really needed to, and if she ever had to, she would move on if she was no longer needed. (This is where she joins any RP)

One a bit OP, she turning invisible plus gaining double strength and defense means she's a walking tank. Either set a limit that takes up less time or decrease the strength/defense buffs...

Speed

Homid: Degra is as swift and agile as a woman in her prime who has undergone several years of martial arts training.

Sokto: Degra is more agile in this form, capable of reacting to attacks that no average human could.

I dunno if you realize this, but Tigers run at an average speed of 35-40 mph, which is half the speed of Degra's Chatro form (though in fairness, it is more agile). I'll allow if you wish to keep it that way.

Make those changes to abilities (and speed if optional) and you're golden.

Oh, I was refering to the ghostly bear apparition that disappears. :lew: Degra doesn't become invisible, she just gets the strength and defence buffs. If double is still a bit much, I will decrease it so that the buff only increases her strength and defence by an extra half.

Also, with the running speed in her Chatro form. That pretty much just applies to her running at full speed, and it comes at the cost of lowered agility.
