Anyone have any? I know we have a few smokers here (myself included)
Anyone else have any? Ever caused you problems to the point where it affects your daily life?

Also chocolate isnt an addiction. Its greed.

You calling me a glutton? :ahmed:

Caffeine is my only real addiction. If I don't have some daily, I get terrible headaches. It used to be a lot worse. I would drink 3 or so cups a day before I got pregnant. I had to cut back and I'm still only drinking one cup of caffeinated coffee per day now. Sometimes I'll have decaf at night.

I tried smoking once but I hated the taste so that one never caught on with me. :lew:

Im addicted to caffeine as well. if i dont have any by 11am, i get a major headache thatll last all day. I need either coffee or a mountain dew. its gotta happen or else it gets really bad. my dad is the same way, i wonder if its hereditary?

I am a caffeine addict, can't get through a night of work without pop... Pathetic I know :(

Personally, I don't think the word 'addiction' should be used. I'm a firm believer that anyone with an ounce of willpower who wants to give up on smoking, caffeine, drugs, etc. has the capacity to do so. So many people are all like "Ohh, I can't quite because of my addiction" or "Ohh, my body needs it" and so on. If you want to quit, then quit. :monster:

:jeri: <----- This guy is making sure that I don't get any addictions during my life. I'm not straight edge, but I am not addicted to anything either. There's no doubt that my surroundings have helped me with that. A lot of kids I know that are my age already smoke and drink. It's pretty gross honestly. I like to drink a few Lime-A-Rita's sometimes, but I could never go crazy on them like they do. My Dad quit smoking when my Mom was pregnant with me. Ever since then, he hasn't smoked. My Mom tried it but didn't like it. My Grandpa smokes, but I hate the smell of it so much, that I can't even go into his house. It gives me super headaches and such. I never plan on doing these things. I'd much rather be called a hermit or a weirdo for playing video games inside, over everybody thinking I'm cool because I smoke. So no. Unless watching wrestling counts as an addiction, I have no addictions. XD

i wouldn't say i have any genuine addictions. i drink a lot of coke and dr pepper, but it isn't something that i need to function, just something that i like.

I don't have any addictions. I don't smoke, rarely binge drink, don't take drugs etc. Though, this is primarily due to the effects addiction can have on a family or group. My brother is still an alcoholic to this day. He can't get through the day without it. He used to hide bottles of vodka in the folds of duvet. He lost his son because of alcohol- and that's only one of the situations that arose.

Eventually, my parents had to kick him out so he'd get his act together.

He drinks a lot less, but it's still too much. Some of my siblings don't speak to him, since he usually only calls when he's drunk.

I can't have an opinion on how hard it is to give up an addiction, since I've never had one. I do know- however- what problems they can cause.

Before I went to uni, I was addicted to video games pretty bad. Day after day would be full of them as soon as I returned from school. Then I moved to uni accommodation and completely dropped them for three years :wacky:.

Now that I'm back home, I'm sure I've found a happy medium. I play games, but not to the extent that I would play instead of taking up an offer to see a mate etc. I'm happy with where I am now :griin:

If it were that easy there wouldnt be any heroin addicts in the world. Sure you might want to quit but wanting to do it isnt always enough because its not like willpower will stop withdrawl and sickness that comes with it :wacky:

EDIT: While i agree you have to want to quit something my point is thats its not simply that easy.

No addictions. I don't drink much with caffeine in it, and smoking is absolutely repulsive. Yet again, some people just can't help it... :(

Its really only repulsive to those who dont smoke :lew:

A cigarette to a smoker is exactly what a coffee is to a caffeine junkie

Okay, fair enough. :lew: Though, compared to cigarettes, alcohol and caffeine, heroine is in a league of its own. :wacky:

I don't mean to go saying it's simple to quit. But when it comes to alcohol, cigarettes and caffeine, all you need is the willpower, and to get through those first stages of withdrawal. When I quit smoking, it was horrible going through that, but once you've gotten past the first week or so it's really simple. I probably can't say the same for those who have been smoking nearly their whole lives. I'm sure I've heard cases of people getting to that stage where it would be more life threatening for them to quit than to carry on. :hmmm:

Hmmm i dunno. Ive seen both in the family and with alcoholics in particular i came to the conclusion that once your an alcoholic your one for life. Said person would be sober for a few months, years, but sooner or later always relapsed. There was always something that happened that made them pick up that bottle of port. Its availability aswell means its not hard to get a hold of. I imagine coming off heroin would be super hard, i mean stopping smoking is really hard but once their clean many seem to stay clean from then on. An alcoholic always relapses.

And really alcoholism is just a more socially acceptable form of drug addiction. No one ever thinks of those hooked on pain meds and diazepam, sleeping tablets as addicts. But frown upon junkies instantly. Though with theyre sucked in crumbling faces and speech you cant understand i guess i see why. When you look a proper mess people judge hard godayum it.

I USED to smoke, but I'm pretty relieved to say I've given that up.
Never been that much into drinking and deffo not drugs.
So yeah, I'm not sure I have any addictions.

I don't really have any addictions, thankfully. I've never been a big drinker, tried smoking (didn't care for it), never been into or tried any street drugs or etc... My heart goes out to the heroin, cocaine, and meth users out there. Those hard drugs completely ruin and destroy lives and make people a slave to their usage. Smoking I've heard is a bitch to quit when you want to and alcoholism is fairly common in society today. The desire to quit has to be there and it has to be strong, people also need to understand that relapsing here and there is common and frequently a part of remission.

Cigarettes. Since last weekend though, I haven't touched them. It's funny though, the nicotine craving pretty much passed after the first 24 hours without smoking. What I am really addicted to, and what I find really hard to quit, is the ritual. It just becomes force of habit and daily routine to smoke a cigarette when I go out, and pop outside for a cigarette and a couple of times during the day and right before I go to bed, and not doing that any more, is really hard!
