I love these things! I remember they did a midnight release for Assassins Creed III at Gamestop, which wrestling fans were able to use as a way to get WWE '13 early! (well, that was the plan at least). I think it's fine for any top selling.... Anything, to get a midnight release. Odds are people want it, so why not throw it at them in the dark?
