[17/07] Final Fantasy III’s PSP port has dual language options
Importing just got a little easier for those looking to play Final Fantasy III when it hits PSP in a few months.
This week’s Famitsu mentions an English text option for the game, which will apparently come available once you switch your PSP’s settings over to English.
Final Fantasy III is due for PSP this September in Japan. A western release hasn’t been announced but today’s news doesn’t put it too far out of the range of reality.

It'd be great if they just up-res'd it to Vita and added trophies and through it on the Vita's PSN store for 20 bones.

They need to do something for the damn Vita. We get a demo about every 3-4 weeks and a new game maybe every 4-5 weeks. I like it, but its def. not living up to the hype that Sony had.

A Vita HD remaster of what is essentially a DS title was never going to happen; it would have required they do some actual work. Square Enix haven't done actual work in god knows how long. Not to mention that, with every other FF from I through to IX on PSP, having III as the odd one as out would probably have raised eyebrows...and complaints, because the Vita is still ridiculously expensive.
I suppose it's considerate of them to include English language options, but it seems rather pointless, because I expect everyone who wanted to play this game already did so...several years ago now, whether it be on DS or iOS. So I doubt this will attract too many importers and, with a localized version all but assured, I imagine a lot of people will just wait for that if they're going to buy the game at all. Of course, I suppose this option being included could mean they're not going to localize it at all - in which case this raises the value of this option, and more companies (I'm looking at you, Capcom and Namco Bandai) need to follow this example - but...it's Final Fantasy; I highly doubt it won't come out here...again.

At least its not another Final Fantasy IV remake/port. I hope we get a release; it would be nice to play another FF title, especially an old one, on a PSP.

[19/07] Final Fantasy III PSP screenshot update
A new round of screenshots and artwork from the upcoming PSP port of Final Fantasy III are now available, showing off how the game will look on Sony’s handheld. Included in the screenshots is an image of the English language option, which will allow Japanese players to play the game with the English translation — and for Japanese-wary importers to perhaps get their hands on a copy early, since the PSP is region free.
Final Fantasy III PSP will be available September 20th in Japan.
