This is a thread for members to contribute their ideas and criticism. Would like to see a particular competition genre featured in FF weeks? Unsatisfied with the way we run the clans and/or FF weeks? Are the competitions and quizzes too easy or too hard? Ways to publicize the clan to the rest of the forums? Which FFs, characters or theme would you like to see in the future FF weeks? And so on.
Please keep the posts civilised and flaming free. Thank you for your time and understanding!
Hey guys, we already have a few ideas we'd like your feedback on!
First and foremost, competitions! Although we love running writing competitions - and many of you have responded well to them - we would like to ensure those of you who lack the confidence and/or the time to write can get involved in FF Weeks. We therefore plan to run a wide variety of compeitions, some of them creative, some of them not.
Competition Types
FF Trivia (2 a week)
Music Quizzes
Writing Competitions
Artistic Competitions
Voice-over Competitions
Riddles
Scavenger Hunts
We will not be running GFX compeitions. We want to leave this to the GFX clans.
Please make suggestions and I will update the list!
What will these competitions involve?
Spoiler!
Writing competitions
We aim to provide themes for the majority of these but will occasionally give you free reign! Thus far, we haven't really come up with a word limit, but if the entries we receive are too long, we will introduce one.
Artistic competitions
We may challenge you to draw a specific Final Fantasy character or summon!
We may ask you to design a FF-esque character, a summon or a new weapon.
Voice-over competitions
We will probably run these during a certain character's week. During Cloud week, for example, we will find a specific scene of Cloud and challenge you to submit a dubbed over version! It may be tricky to combine it with the specific scene, so only a voice clip will be required. We will then listen to the voice clip alongside the clip on youtube - we will ensure there is a short gap at the start of the clip to aid with timing.
Riddles
We will provide you with a set of riddles - ambiguous, short poems or a few words - and will ask you to PM us with answers. We may create a riddle which identifies a certain character, an event in FF, a world or specific town... We will specify which FF the riddle relates to.
Scavenger Hunts
These will be similar to riddles but they will be more lengthy and we may ask for something even more specific! For example, we may write a poem which directs you to a certain picture of a certain character. You will then be required to search for this and PM us with a link to it.
Well, I obviously haven't been around here very long, so take this for what you will, but this is one thing that really stuck out to me from the beginning. It seems to me that since the FF of the Week competitions are so heavily clan-focused there should be some sort of mention of which game is currently FF of the Week within the Clans subforum, or perhaps in a new subforum of their own. A single location to find info on current and upcoming competitions and such would be very helpful. I'm sure I can adjust to subforum-hopping to get to the right FFotW page, but it might be a bit less confusing to have it all at least linked to from a central location.
I'm thinking about other possible competitions, too...I'll be sure to let you know if I come up with any good ones
Who likes the idea of FF Couples weeks after we've been through the various FF games?! We're almost there (I and II; Dissidia; Tactics; Crystal Chronicles are left)
I'd love to see a week for:
- Yuna and Tidus
- Rinoa and Squall
- Cloud and Aerith
- Could and Tifa
- Cecil and Rosa
- Serah and Noel
- Serah and Snow (I suppose. )
- FFXII couples in general, since you COULD have Ashe and Recks then Balthier and Freya, but FFXII doesn't really focus on couples.
The couples and a chocobo and moogle week are all good ideas.
Perhaps we could also have weeks for particularly noteworthy job classes (black mage, dragoon, etc).
These sorts of themes therefore cut across several games and celebrate the series as a whole where these concepts have been used.
As for further competitions, perhaps (as an idea that may perhaps be too ambitious, but will be fun to try) we could do comic panels. It would be an artistic competition where people draw a scene from a game / sequel / original strip with FF themes. Perhaps about 5 panels, or maybe more if that is not enough.
Another competition could be to draw / write a short tweaked history of alternate universe counterparts for FF characters. Perhaps that could be anything from reinterpreting Barret as a woman to having an evil Yuna.
Those are suggestions, but they may or may not work out.
Spoiler!
Thanks go to Hayabusa and my Secret Scotsman for the sigs.

OMG, YES YES YES YES YES AND YES. This would be so awesome!!!
Along with the different creatures week, job classes, etc. All great ideas guys!!
In terms of competition: can we have more musical quizzes? It was done for Birthweek but I haven't seen it yet for a FF week. I actually really loved the Birthweek competition. It was really fun and challenging. I would love to see it again.
If we do have Cloud and Aerith and Cloud and Tifa weeks, I'd ask people to avoid the debate. Members can openly celebrate their favourite couple in the assigned week, but shouldn't dismiss the other couple. They can ignore the other week if they prefer not to support a particular couple. I think it would be nice for members to celebrate their favourite couple/s!
So many fantastic ideas so far! Comic strips, more music competitions... I shall have a think about how we can incorporate these into FF Weeks as soon as possible!
Hey guys, Mitsuki was suggesting that the FF Clans subforum could have its own forum below the FF General Discussion forum. I really like this idea as it will make our subforum less hidden to other members =)
We will go on and apply the change, but before that, anyone objects, or has better ideas?
