The Arcana is the means by which all is revealed.
________________________________________

For years, we have looked to tarot as a way of predicting our future. Some would scoff upon it, thinking it as a useless method of trying to predict the ever changing future. Others have thought otherwise, and consistently used tarot to predict their fate.

Of course, fate cares not for who believes in it and who doesn’t. Destiny. Time. Fate. The future. It delivers us all to the same end. There is no avoiding it. No denying it. There is only the effort to fight to change it every day.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Ten years ago, one person was chosen by a voice. This voice instructed that person, told them secrets. Told them of powers man was not meant to hold, and gave that person building blocks. The ability, the knowledge, and the assumed right to give people that power.

As their knowledge grew, as their failures gave way to success, the voice became stronger and stronger. Gave the person continued advice, gave them arcane secrets. Forbidden knowledge born of forbidden fruit. And as the fruit was devoured, the seeds of madness were planted in this person’s soul. Their mind was shattered from within and the voice became the dominant figure. Innocents gained powers they should not have gained, and they too were damaged by their experiences.

And as such things become, the situation expanded. The one who had been gifted with this forbidden knowledge began to slip; their madness growing. Indeed, their gift of knowledge grew out of control, and as they lost their way, so too did their charges, who they had unwillingly given inhuman abilities.

Two months before our story begins, an explosion rocked the tower this person’s experiments had slowly been approaching fruition within. Almost all of this person’s charges were killed instantly, and two people alone were able to escape their hell.

However, more important than this was the flux of power released into the air, the earth, and the sea. Most resisted this power’s influence; most continued with their daily lives.

But not all.

For a few innocents, life was about to change forever, and for them, the slowly spreading darkness was about to become a lot more meaningful.

Arcana

Each power user has a different Arcana correlating with their personality and view of the world. A power will always fit within that boundary, which often restricts it to its area of expertise and its power in battle. The Arcana are represented by the major Arcana of the tarot cards.
0-The Fool

The Fool represents chaos, creativity, inexperience, and potential. Those of the Fool Arcana regularly have yet to find their place in the world, and so their power is weaker and they themselves are without purpose in life, or are moving from path to path of their own free will. However, on the other hand, someone of the Fool arcana can be selfish and careless in their pursuit of identity, directly leading themselves and others into danger, blind to the consequences. The Fool is represented by wanderers, the unemployed, travellers, delinquents, and clowns.

A power user of the Fool arcana typically does not excel or fail in any element. As a result, the power’s potential is significantly less than others should it remain in the Fool arcana. However, the Fool’s potential is also infinite, allowing it to evolve into a new Arcana at some stage. However, after evolving, it must remain in that arcana. Because of its potential and its jack of all trades status, I won’t be accepting many Fools, and those who apply need to have detailed bios.

1-The Magician

The Magician typically represents confidence and power. Those of the Magician Arcana are typically confident, outspoken individuals on the surface, whether that is their true personality or not is irrelevant, as their outward personality displays this trait. They typically have the desire to succeed and rise above their station, and will usually devote a lot of time towards harnessing their power and sway, which is already considerable.

Those of the Magician Arcana also tend to be powerful speakers, able to sway people to their way of thinking with words alone. However, they typically avoid excessive danger, and are easily made afraid by dangerous situations, which can hinder the power they have over others.

On the negative side, a person of the Magician Arcana can be power hungry and arrogant, willing to push others aside for their own advancement.

The positive side of the Magician is represented by advisors, soldiers, and leaders, while the negative side of the Magician is represented by bullies, corrupt politicians, and tricksters.

Power users of the Magician Arcana typically excel in fire based abilities, however they may also tap into a lesser mastery of other elements, excluding physical abilities, which they are incredibly weak at.

2-The Priestess

The Priestess represents serenity, knowledge and satisfaction. Those of the Priestess Arcana are serene, mature individuals, often though not always female. They usually place knowledge in high regard, though for what reason tends to vary from person to person.

Court magicians in fantasy stories would greatly represent people of the Priestess Arcana. They tap into knowledge, and then freely impart much of that knowledge onto others. They tend to find contentment with their station, and only occasionally impart their words of wisdom onto others. However, when they do, the masses would do well to listen to them.

On the negative side, a person of the Priestess Arcana can be manipulative and cunning, using their knowledge to turn people against one another or to hold power they should not. In a less extreme spectrum, those of the Priestess Arcana can be consumed by the very knowledge they seek, and be forced into vice in an attempt to maintain or enhance that knowledge.

The positive side of the Priestess is represented by advisors, researchers, and vice presidents, while the negative side of the Priestess is represented by corrupt religious figures, hermits, and substance abusers.

Power users of the Priestess Arcana are typically proficient in healing and supportive abilities, but can also tap into a single offensive element for protection. However, they are unable to use physical skills efficiently.

3-The Empress

The Empress represents maturity, a regal composure, and emotional control. Those of the Empress Arcana are usually emotionally distant, quietly confident individuals, usually though not always female. They usually prefer to separate the emotional aspect of the events around them and deal with them in a composed manner.

Mothers and queens represent the Empress perfectly. They are usually emotionally controlled, though sensual individuals, full of creativity and quiet love for the world around them. They represent a maternal nature, yet this by no means makes them soft. Mothers are also fiercely protective of their children and anyone else they deem necessary of their protection, and will defend their young to the death; likely the death of their opponents.

On the negative side, one of the Empress Arcana can also be cold and distant, capable of using their maternal influence to manipulate those around them towards their own ends as they wait in the side-lines, unhindered by emotion or guilt. On another spectrum, they can become hooked upon the excesses an Empress comes to receive, and damage their minds and change themselves through this addiction. People of the Empress Arcana come to know power in many forms, and can abuse it towards that same end.

The positive side of the Empress Arcana is represented by mothers, queens, and businesspeople. The negative side of the Empress is represented by abusive mothers, tyrants, and usurpers.

Power users of the Empress Arcana are typically proficient in ice skills, yet are also capable of tapping into healing skills to a less proficient degree.

4-The Emperor

While the Empress represents quiet maternal power, the Emperor represents more forthright power, and the fierce paternal protection of a father or king. People of the Emperor Arcana tend to be more emotional and reckless than the Empress, and are usually though not always male.

Kings and army commanders represent the Emperor perfectly. They are fiercely protective, violently devoted, and excessively grandiose in the name of their morals and all they deem their sons and daughters. Emperors are capable of changing from incredible calm to intense fury in the blink of an eye, and to fool with an Emperor’s charges is to awaken a sleeping dragon, which will leave incredible destruction in its wake. This makes them more predictable than their Empress counterparts, but they pose a much more overt threat when their rage comes to the surface.

On a negative side, an Emperor’s balance of emotion is fragile, and can easily be tipped over and imbalanced on a permanent scale. Emperors tend to be unstable, and desire control of the world around them to some degree. The inherent desire to conquer and rule is in an Emperor’s blood, and some succumb to that trait and discard all semblances of paternal love a positive Emperor usually embodies.

The positive side of the Emperor is represented by high ranking soldiers, presidents, fathers and kings. The negative side is represented by bullies, tyrants, corrupt politicians, invaders, and warmongers.

Power users of the Emperor Arcana are typically proficient in electricity based skills, yet are also capable of tapping into physical skills to a less proficient degree.

5-The Hierophant

The Hierophant represents knowledge and power, as well as authority, adherence to rules, and relationship with the divine. It is kin with the Priestess. However, while the Priestess only occasionally shares her wisdom with others and is content to continue acquiring the knowledge at her leisure, the Hierophant becomes resolved to impart every new piece of information onto others.

Those of the Hierophant Arcana are natural teachers. They often live lives of knowledge impartment and hunting for more knowledge. However, they often also seek to rise above their station and learn of what exists beyond their mortality, unlike the Priestess, who tends to be satisfied with what knowledge she comes across, and does not pursue a specific path most of the time.

On the negative side, the Hierophant can be just as manipulative as the Priestess. However, not content with pulling the strings from the background, they will actively commune with those they manipulate on a regular basis, and make their motives very much clear to the observer. They are not as capable of subtle manipulation as the Priestess, but their danger is much more overt and clear, as they can become reckless in their pursuit of knowledge significantly quicker than the Priestess.

The positive side of the Hierophant is represented by researchers, scientists and teachers. The negative side of the Hierophant is represented by corrupt religious figures, plagiarists, and thieves.

Power users of the Hierophant Arcana are typically proficient in physical skills, but as they make choices in what to do with the knowledge they obtain, they will branch off into the elements of light or darkness to a less proficient degree.

6-The Lovers
The Lovers Arcana represents love, intimacy, sensual contact and desire. People of the Lovers Arcana are spirited, outgoing individuals on the surface, tending towards thrill seeking, meaningful lives and deep, exhilarating relationships. Staleness and repetition are a sure-fire way to lose the favour of a person of the Lovers Arcana, and their favour is valuable and bound to incite adventure in the one who holds it.

Lovers are typically “adrenaline junkies”, participating in parachute jumping, car racing, BASE jumping, speedboat racing, parasailing and other such activities to get their fix. They crave constant adventure and sexual satisfaction, and can upturn their life to get this. However, this does not mean they are without morals. Lovers simply hold a looser view of them than most, but they know the difference between right and wrong. Most of the time.

On the negative side, those of the Lovers Arcana can be easily driven to vice in search of their thrill, and can easily be swayed onto the wrong path while weak because it will give them a purpose, albeit temporary. Lovers often thrive on being a part of the minority, and that alone carries dangerous possibilities.

The positive side of the Lovers Arcana is represented by athletes, adrenaline junkies and intimate lovers, while the negative side is represented by polygamists, substance abusers and terrorists.

Power users of the Lovers Arcana tend to be proficient in illusion control and the affliction of poison, paralysis, fear, and charming effects. They gain a lesser proficiency in healing abilities.

7-The Chariot

The Chariot represents heroics, confidence, self-assertion, victory and war. Where the Emperor is a general, the Chariot is part of the rank and file. An unsung hero in the eyes of the many, but a true champion of the people in the eyes of the few. Their actions, both small and large, serve to aid and further an individual or group.

A lower rank soldier such as a Private is a perfect representative of the Chariot Arcana. Those possessing this Arcana are rigorous in their enforcement of law, morality, or simply just the right thing to do in a relatively unimportant situation. The opinions of the masses matter little to the Chariot. It is unswayable in its ideals and will act as a champion of these same ideals to the bitter end.

However, on the negative side, a Chariot will become ruthless, willing to harm others to make its ideals a reality. Zealots and those brainwashed as young children tend to have their Arcana shaped into this negative representation of the Chariot Arcana. Childhood abuse and improper teachings are a cornerstone of this reversed Arcana.

The positive side of this Arcana is represented by soldiers, pugilists and generally people unaffected by peer pressure. The negative side is represented by zealots, radicals, and corrupt military.

Power users of the Chariot Arcana are generally proficient at physical skills. They are poor at magic, but may grasp an amateur concept of ice or lightning abilities.

8-Justice

Justice represents order, law, punishment, imprisonment and execution. Someone of the Justice Arcana has honed their moral beliefs down to a point, or so they believe at the very least. While the Chariot and the Emperor are in the battlefield, tackling the problems one step at a time, Justice takes the problem to its core while it is weakened, isolating and eliminating it from the world by any means necessary.

A judge represents the sway the Justice Arcana has over the others. Balance of power and the might to enforce this balance is the cornerstone of a Justice Arcana possessor, and driven by confidence and absolute faith in their own morals, they mete out justice in any way they see fit. Of course, lesser variants of this exist. Vigilantes and young, unlicensed detectives help the police in their own way. Justice is a many tiered thing.

However, a darker side of justice exists, as with all things. For those of the Justice Arcana possess absolute confidence in their morality, and morality is a remarkably broad term. One thing is for certain though. Those of the Justice Arcana always believe what they are doing is right. It would take nothing short of a miracle to turn them away from the path they have chosen for themselves. Those who interfere with them are an enemy that must be removed; however they see fit. Many admire their steely resolve, and if one crosses their radar, Justice is to be feared.

Police, detectives and judges represent Justice’s positive side, while its negative side is represented by radicals, terrorists, and rogue enforcers of the law.

Power users of the Justice Arcana start with a moderately powerful grasp on both light and darkness based abilities. As they make decisions on which brand of Justice they wish to mete out, their respective powers will grow in strength. However, as command over the darkness grows, light dwindles, and as mastery of the light swells, darkness weakens. Those who remain balanced despite the immense sway of morality rocking their bodies and souls will never stagnate, but will never grow either. Each individual Justice Arcana user has their own choice to make, and their power shifts depending on their choices.

9-The Hermit

The Hermit represents solitude, introspection, wisdom and searching for purpose or wisdom through solitude. Life and its deeper meanings are unlocked through introspection in solitude. They are similar to the Fool, but they have settled into their quiet period of self-reflection, whereas the Fool’s method of discovering themselves is through a snap decision and the help of others.

The Hermit may seem cool and distant towards other people, and will never impart their knowledge as freely as the Hierophant, and even less than the Priestess. Only when they have totally verified their own knowledge will they share it with others. However, their heightened morality means that they will often not stand idly by while someone is hurt. Particularly strong hermits, on the other hand, might be colder than the norm.

On the negative side, The Hermit can be cynical, bitter, and especially distant. Weariness with the world and social disassociation are cornerstones of this reversed Arcana. They will often do anything to be alone, and are neither trustworthy nor compassionate. Abusive childhoods, bullying, and rape often mold people into this negative representation of The Hermit, defined only by their desire to be distanced from the world.

The positive side of this Arcana is represented by scholars, philosophers and lecturers. The negative side is represented by shut ins, assault, rape and bullying victims, and antisocial people in general.

Power Users of the Hermit Arcana tend to be proficient in abilities that inflict poison, paralysis, fear, charming effects and the like, and are proficient in darkness based abilities to a lesser extent.

10-Fortune

The Fortune Arcana is represented by chance, opportunity, luck and triumph. Hard work and reward for this is the goal of a typical Fortune Arcana possessor. On a looser scale, Fortune is a sister Arcana to the Lovers, seeking thrills and fun, but also seeking potential monetary gain from this. Light hearted and often more than a little materialistic, this aspect of the Fortune Arcana knows how to have both a good time and how to make money off it.

However, on the negative aspect of the Fortune Arcana are gamblers, completely materialistic individuals, and illegal debt collectors and money loaners who would happily place others in dangerous and unfavourable situations for their own gain.

The positive side of the Fortune Arcana is represented by businessmen, gamblers and people who take their chances with life. The negative aspect is represented by addicts, debt collectors, and loan sharks.

Power users of the Fortune Arcana favour the element of air, but can become proficient to a lesser degree in physical skills.

11-Strength

Strength represents brute force, but also something more, such as self-control, gentleness, courage and creative and physical energy. One of the Strength Arcana desires to be recognized, given the reward they deserve for hard work. A cornerstone of the Strength Arcana is its boundless energy and will to rise higher than their station.

On the negative side, however, is the brute, a thug who never received the love they wanted or the recognition they needed. Stagnant and sealed in the same position, they often turn to violence, vice, and other such negative aspects of life to maintain their desire for a purpose, desperately hoping to be recognized in some form or other. To a lesser extent, those who smile despite breaking inside and those who suppress their emotions are also possible outcomes of a reversed Strength Arcana. This often comes as a result of familial pressure to take up a certain occupation or way of life.

The positive side of the Strength Arcana is represented by athletes, celebrities and idols. The negative side is represented by negative versions of the above, as well as thugs, drug addicts, and crime lords.

Power users of the Strength Arcana typically prevail in physical oriented abilities, as well as the affliction of poison, charming effects, fears, paralysis etc to a lesser degree.

12-The Hanged Man

The Hanged Man represents self sacrifice, struggle, and the breaking of old, addictive habits for the sake of knowledge and advancement. The procurement of knowledge and success through struggle is the major personality trait of the Hanged Man, and their lack of need for personal comfort while doing this sets them apart from the Fortune Arcana.

Self-sacrifice for one’s friends is also a large part of what the Hanged Man is. Taking the fall for a friend’s failure, or putting yourself in danger to protect them can often make the Hanged Man seem reckless in comparison to “safer” Arcanas. However, they are usually wise beyond their years, and often just view themselves as a piece in an intricate game.

In reverse, the Hanged Man represents recklessness, stubbornness, frivolity, and violence to obtain what they see as necessary to obtain. While the upright Arcana will sacrifice itself, the reversed Arcana will sacrifice others. Ironically, a reversed Hanged Man is standing upright. They refuse to surrender what must be surrendered, and pain and suffering on a personal level is often a large fear of theirs.

Positive representations of the Hanged Man include champions of the weak, martyrs, and saints. Negative representations include executions, extremists and zealots.

Power users of the Hanged Man Arcana specialise in defensive abilities, forming force fields, walls, and capture devices. They are also proficient in light based abilities to a lesser degree.

13-Death

Death represents renewal, the death of an old self, reincarnation, and the arise of the new. Those who branch off from the lessons and people of their youth often develop a strong connection with the Death Arcana and all that comes with it.

The methods of one who tries to attain independence naturally vary from person to person, but the desire to escape from an old life is constant, and the desire to reform oneself as an independent, recognizable individual is also common. At its core, Death represents individualism, singularity and peace with oneself.

On the negative side, however, are those who would take the Death aspect a little more literally. These people are typically similar to the Hermit’s negative incarnation in that they have grown cynical and bitter with the world. However, unlike the Hermit, they will take more decisive action to erase what they perceive as the world’s greatest flaws, often through violent means.

Due to the natural constants of renewal and individuality, many Fools will become carriers of the Death Arcana, for better or worse.

Power users of the Death Arcana typically specialise in the manipulation of darkness, and are also proficient in the affliction of poison, charming effects, fears and paralysis etc to a lesser degree.

14-Temperance

Temperance represents prudence, synthesis and the joining of opposites. People of the Temperance Arcana tend to be refined, understanding individuals with a penchant for having a soothing effect on those around them due to their demeanour, whether this aura is true or fabricated. They are consistently capable of helping someone on a personal level, whereas most other knowledge imparting Arcana tend to be much more impersonal with their knowledge.

On the negative side is the false one. One who tempers to benefit itself and its own ends. These people are often manipulative, able to make those that consider them a friend dance to their own tune. Their cruel fabrications and penchant for seeming wise through their thoughtless brutality can make their words eternally believable uncontested.

Positive representations of the Temperance Arcana include therapists and psychologists. Negative stereotypes include manipulative friends and corrupt versions of the above.

Power users of the Temperance Arcana specialise in light elemental skills, and also branch into physical skills to a lesser degree.

15-Devil

The Devil represents pleasure, commitment, love, desire and fulfilment. Those of the Devil Arcana seek satisfaction and happiness. They desire love, spiritual completion and financial assurance, and will work hard towards these ends. They enjoy mindless leisure and of course, will occasionally dip into the vices of alcohol or drugs to relax themselves; as much as is safe, of course.

On the negative side, however, there is one who has succumbed to their temptation and surrendered to their darkest desires. Violence, excess, brutality, and overemotional nature are a cornerstone of this reversed Arcana.

Those of the Devil Arcana walk a fine line between positive and negative. An over the top reaction, a poor decision, a reaffirming of oneself, a change in one’s perspectives. These can change the Devil Arcana’s position in a person and allow them either true happiness or an immediate fall from grace.

Power users of the Devil Arcana specialise in fire based skills, but may also possess proficiency in dark elemental skills to a lesser degree.

16-The Tower

The Tower represents hard work, expectation, reward for one’s efforts, and the passing of power from parent to child. Those of the Tower Arcana tend to either have extremely successful parents/outer family, or have accomplished something of great worth as a child. The feeling of success this gives moulds one’s Arcana into the Tower, and they show confidence, pride and love for what they have accomplished, and will often be all too happy to share the secrets of their success with others.

On the negative side the case is mostly the same. However, the Tower bearer has become arrogant and conceited. They will be condescending and think less of their peers, whether in the open or in private, and will often strive to continue their success even after the flame has died. As such, this negative representation of the Tower Arcana burns out early and often.

However, the Tower’s namesake is often presented as lightning struck and ablaze for a reason. Positive or negative, if the source of one’s pride is undermined, proved false, or otherwise demeaned or made worthless, the Tower Arcana bearer will fall into depression and often vice.

Power users of the Tower Arcana prevail in physical oriented abilities, but can also become proficient in electricity based abilities to a lesser degree.

17-The Star

The Star represents trust in others, love, self-confidence, faith and altruism. Those of the Star Arcana tend to be incredibly connected with their close friends, and trust and grow to believe in someone very quickly, although this is not always the case. The common factor remains their deep belief in those they come to trust and their reliance on them. Often within a circle of friends, they tend to be the binding tie due to their compassion and deep trust and confidence.

On the negative side, The Star is conceited and delusional, believing themselves to be incredibly important and often showing arrogant natures and little actual connections to those they claim to be friends. They lack the manipulative nature of a reversed Temperance bearer, but retain the callous nature and avoidance of real intimacy.

The Star tends to show either true or false confidence and charisma regardless of their true feelings. They are similar to the Magician, but ultimately are more quiet in their confidence and mannerisms, and tend to be less driven by emotion as a result.

Power users of the Star Arcana specialise in ice based skills, but show a lesser proficiency in electricity based skills.

18-The Moon

Composure, creativity, loyalty, observance and trickery are the most prominent traits of the Moon Arcana. Bearers of this Arcana tend to be tricksters by nature. They may form friendships, but they will never admit this. Their own emotion is often their greatest source of weakness, and they often show their affection through little actions rather than words. They are subject to pranks, jokes, dark humor and daydreaming. They have a lot of creativity and the ability to place it efficiently.

On the negative side, those of the Moon Arcana show a cold demeanour, and it is often genuine. Their trickery and pranks become much more dangerous, and they are often proven to be remarkably obsessive about specific things, which they will cling to often and without release, showing dangerous attraction and violent protectiveness of this object or person beyond the constraints of logic and reason.

Power users of the Moon Arcana specialise in water based abilities, but are also proficient in the affliction of poison, charming effects, fears and paralysis etc to a lesser degree.

19-The Sun

The Sun Arcana is represented by strong emotion, energy, creativity, life, and compassion. Those of the Sun Arcana tend to be the life of the party, and will often act as emotional crutches, muses, inspirational people and good friends to those they are close to. Similar to the Star Arcana, they form attachments quickly. But rather than being the ties that bind a group, they break the ice, unify a group to begin with, then comfortably settle in. A predisposition towards hyperactivity, being easy to excite and quick to emotion in general are constants of the Sun Arcana.

On the negative side are those who would once again use their falsely sunny demeanour to manipulate those around them towards their own ends. They can commit the most brutal, violent acts with a smile on their face, never allowing their cheery façade to crack. Another facet of this Arcana is the “false sun.” The sun that shines, showing all of the traits of the positive Sun Arcana, while feeling broken, empty and hollow inside.

Power users of the Sun Arcana tend to specialise in fire based abilities, but are also experienced in light abilities to a lesser degree.

Gotta ask, this does seem a tad bit similar to Persona, mechanics wise with the personality correlation and all that?

I like this, I wanna join!! As you'd probably guess, I'd like to choose "The Fool" arcana... But by detail, how much would you need? I don't mind huge Bio's, I enjoy making them. Also, is this set in present times, on Earth?

when is the deadline for sign ups? I would love to join this RP but I won't be able to get a bio up til after the 11th due to finishing my uni year. So as long as the deadline is after the 11th I would love to join this RP :)

If you don't mind, I would love to create an escapee. She'll be of the Magician Arcana. I'll have her bio up on Monday, I believe, as the Guild Wars 2 Beta ends tonight. :sad3:

Tipsy, this actually started as a Persona RP, but then I realized not a whole lot of people would be into that. So I switched the plot up a lot and the mechanics up a little to make it tarot based as opposed to Persona based.

This is set in modern times, in a large metropolis called Neo Irasis. It will have tall towers, parks, highways, and will generally seem rather artificial in nature.

By detailed, I mean long and detailed. I won't be allowing more than two Fools. And keep in mind despite having access to all the elements, you are weaker as a whole. Evolving your Arcana later will be in your best interests.

And before I forget, whoever applies for main villain, leave the Arcana, and as a result the elements section, blank. I'll PM you further information upon bio completion.

Hmm.. i would like to use a character from Ringo's rp in here. Tho she would need some massive overhaul. What realm is this in? Earth? Whats the era?

Earth. Magic like the above is out of the ordinary. We're in 2012, post modern times in a metropolis of a city similar to inner New York and LA.

Name: Alyss Aldan

Age: 18

Gender: Female

Place of Birth: London, England

Appearance:
2a7cu3s.jpg

The first thing that most people notice about Alyss is her bright red hair that goes all the way down to the back of her knees. She stands at 5’4, and is rather small. She weighs at 95 pounds, though she’s tried to gain wait, her metabolism is far too fast for her to hold it. Her eyes are a bright emerald green. Alyss does not like showing skin and as such wears clothes that reveal next to nothing other than her forearms. More often than not, one can find her wearing a white, long sleeved button down blouse with an undershirt under it. The brown skirt that she wears goes all the way down to her ankles.

Under her skirt she wears a pair of rather dark black stockings so no one can see her legs in case her skirt blows up from a gust of wind. Her shoes are boots with a two inch heel that one can hear as she walks.

Personality: For the most part, Alyss can be a brat. This comes from her high upbringing. However, these days she finds herself more paranoid than anything. The fact that she isn’t comfortable around people is no longer part of thinking herself better than them but rather than her no longer capable of trusting them. As such, she keeps to herself. If ever spoken to, she’ll reply in short answers and it will become evident that she is annoyed. When by herself she is constantly checking windows and doors to ensure they’re closed and worried about her safety.

With others, she is constantly nervous as she doesn’t trust them. She will still speak, and when she does it is direct and to the point. If she is around people that she doesn’t trust, she will try to remain silent. Though there are times they will say or do something that will either annoy her or she will find far too silly to not say something about. When that happens it is hard for one to see that she is rather nervous. If she is around people that she trusts, she can be talkative. In fact, she can actually be humble and nice to a certain degree. Trust doesn’t come easy to her, so when she is around people that she does trust, she finds herself not wanting to offend them.

While she is rather rude to strangers and people she doesn’t care to know, she can be open and very nice to people she likes. However, even then she can still be somewhat of a brat from time to time. However, on the plus side, she is very intelligent. In fact, she prides herself on it and will not hesitate to rub it in someone’s face.

When placed in a situation where she is afraid, she tends to lock up. She will become unresponsive and essentially have to have her hand held through it. If the threat is coming from a person, however, she will not hesitate to lash out. Though, if the person is stronger than her, or simply scares her, she will tend to fold up like a lawn chair. Bravery is not her strong point. Some of the things she is afraid of is: the dark, chains (due to her capture and imprisonment), closed spaces, needles (due to her torture), mirrors (also due to torture), and to a certain extent, doctors. She also cannot stand to be touched at all.

One thing about her that most people don’t know is that she is somewhat submissive and to a certain degree, a masochist. However, there is a point where pain can be too much for her, and due to her imprisonment, it has been passed. She is far too afraid of letting anyone get too close to her for them to see that side of her now.

Strength: Almost nonexistent. She has trouble lifting boxes that are more than 30 pounds. If she were to ever punch someone, they would simply laugh at her.

Speed: Being of light frame, she is very fast.

Vitality: She cannot take a punch or any blow that is too hard. All it would take is a punch or someone twisting her arm and she would be forced to give in out of the sheer pain of it.

Stamina/Endurance: Alyss has virtually next to no stamina in things like running. However, when using her abilities, she finds that she is rather fine in that department. She can fire at her enemies for at least 15 minutes before tiring herself out.

Fighting Style: Alyss is not a fighter, and as such she has no idea how to handle herself in one. She keeps herself at a distance and fires fire or lightning at them until they fall. At times, she can tire herself out before this happens, and as such, it brings her great pain.

Arcana: The Magician

Primary Element: Fire
Secondary Element: Electricity

History: Alyss comes from a rather rich family. However, the entire family was, and remains, rather distant from each other. As such, Alyss was always a rather independent individual. She went to school and learned at a private institution and learned how to do many things herself. Her education was top notch, so she remains a very intelligent person. However, all of her independency and certain naivety from lack of experience in the real world came to be her undoing.

As she was out shopping, two men grabbed her and took her away. Months would pass, but she would eventually be counted as dead by the police and family members alike. However, unbeknownst to all of them she would spend the next two years being held against her will and being drugged and experimented on. For months on end she would be chained or strapped down to tables, prodded with needles, cut, hit, beaten, and at times even electrocuted… all in the name of something she couldn’t understand.

Her days were spent being tortured and held against her will. Her nights were spent in a cold unforgiving cell, next to naked, battered, bruised, chained to a wall and lying in constant pain… all just to rest to be able to withstand more the next day. There would be times she would be dragged out of bed in the dead of night simply to be tied town elsewhere just so others could see how much pain she could take. In that place the naive side of her died almost completely.

At some points she would be drugged to the point where she was almost unresponsive. She would miss days of her memory at a time and at some points she wouldn’t be able to recall months. Other times she would lose her ability to see or smell, and at other times she would get so week she would have to be force fed. There were even times that she would have to put on an IV. Whoever held her did not want her dying.

One of the worst things they ever did to her complete sensory deprivation. She was unable to see, hear, feel, eat, or smell anything. They left her like this for two months, and ever since she’s had a deep seeded hatred of the dark. To this day she will flat out refuse to even go down a dark alleyway. In fact, if ever deprived of something she likes even leaves a nasty taste in her mouth.

However, one day there was an accident that allowed her to escape. She wasted no time at all getting out of the tower she was held in. From there, the first thing she did was sit at a computer (with odd stares from the people around her due to the fact that she was bruised and wearing rags), hack into a major company’s files, and steal their latest software months before it released and sold it. From there she bought a small apartment, and the most expensive clothes she could, and cleaned herself back up. From the outside it looks as if nothing has happened to her, but she still lives with haunting thoughts of what did.

Today she lives as a hacker that gets sensitive files before anyone else. She makes a rather good living that way.

Aaaaaand approved. We have our first escapee. I'll be making the second. The only role that remains to be taken is our main villain. I may have to take that too if nobody's interested, though s/he won't be heavily involved at the very beginning.

Do you mean the main villain or a different villain? The answer to both is yes, but if you want the main villain I just need to mark it as reserved for you.

I'd like Main villain then please. I wasn't sure if you had a main villain already. :3 It's been a while since I RPed a villain anyways ^0^ Working on the bio now.

Fantastic. I was actually hoping to have somebody other than me in the main villain role. Just follow the guidelines in the plot. Your character should have been hearing voices for several years now. However, to keep your motives a secret, I left it very ambiguous. You should do the same in your history. Gender is up to you. History is up to you. Appearance and personality are up to you. Just leave the Arcana and elements section blank. You'll receive that in secret.

Lets get cracking then. Added a tab here and there. If you want things removed, just say the word.

Name
Amira Karluka Haktanir

Age
23

Gender
Female

Place of Birth
Kabul, Afghanistan

Appearance

Iri.jpg

For her profession and the surrounding she works in, Amira is surprisingly not shaped like a soldier. She is fit and slender, appearing more like a business woman (which she is). Due to her parents, Amira's skin tone is mostly white, although her mother's Afghan skin colour is lightly visible, making her not absolutely pale. Her face is proportioned rather well, with a pointed nose and rather large eyes. Amira's face shape isn't extremely sharp and her eyebrows aren't angled deeply. Her lips naturally curve upwards in a permanent slight smile which is perfect for her line of work. One would say she is rather fetching and beautiful, like a flower and exudes a friendly and helpful aura by default. Her hair is white and very long, reaching past her buttocks at the back and her sides reaches down past her chest in a middle split, revealing her entire face.

Attire
Amira's base outfit consist of three main piece of clothing with gloves and hoisery. Her shirt is a long sleeved burgundy blouse which have wide cuffs at the wrist with gold buttons. On her neck under the collar, Amira has a ribbon tied around in a bow up front looped through behind an intricate golden brooch (check appearance image above for size). Her skirt is white and rather modest, reaching 3/4 down her thighs. Her leg is covered with dark navy tights, whilst she wears knee high white boots on top of them. It is interesting to note that the zipper is on the front, though coloured to appear less like zippers. At times, she may wear a pair of white cotton gloves.

On the side, Amira can also wear a white trench coat (sleeves are pulled down)that has white fur lining on the end of the sleeves and on the collar. In addition, on her head, Amira can also wear a white fur cap. Lastly, Amira sometimes don a pair of sun glasses that have specially treated lense for combat flashes and protection. On each of her ring finger, she has a ring. This one on the left, and this on the right. Both are made of platinum. The right one has her birth year number set.

Personality
Amira's is always polite and friendly. Business is in her blood and she acts accordingly in all aspects of her life, exceedingly polite and formal. As someone who is absolutely neutral, she treats people, attitude wise, mostly the same. How she actually shows her moral grounds and personal preference is via how much leniency and leeway she is willing to give when doing business. She is willing to make less of a profit and put more effort into offering a better deal, even making them priority clients over others, to those she likes and vice versa for those she doesn't. That said, this is personal preference of people, rather than on people's moral grounds. Just because someone is doing good things does not mean that Amira would like them. There are grounds in which she refuses to cross, that is drugs. Any attempt to pay via drugs or even offering her drugs would result in, usually, violent response. If she is in a good mood, she may give them a chance to revoke their offer, but their impression is forever tarnished in her eyes.

In normal situations and socialisation, Amira is still formal and polite in her speech and mannerism. She is pleasant and friendly, though not chummy and "i'll befriend every single person". Despite this, because she never seems to show anger nor happiness, people do not know what she is actually thinking. This makes it hard for people to gauge her. She is calculating and very meticulous as her job requires. One does not survive and thrive in the arms business by winging it. Usually, Amira smiles with rather friendly eyes. However, when she does get serious and her "angry", she still smiles, but her eye narrows in a rather sadistic and scary way and her smile feels more scary and intimidating. It is a look that not many see twice and it screams warning signals in people's head that they are toeing a dangerous line.

However, when her neutrality and safety becomes threatened, she will bring fire down upon those that are the cause. She would compromise and assist people if it meant that she deal with those that has wronged her. The way she think about it is that she is selling her service at a great discount in which the return is personal satisfaction. In these situation, her companions well being is her well being and she will go out of her way to help them. Her normal business nature is gone and she has chosen a side. To her, her companions are family and she would go through hell and high water, albeit with style and grace, for them.

Weapon
1 x IMI Desert Eagle XiX .50AE (Aware pic isnt a XIX. Just want the engraving)
The main gun that Amira shoots with, modified from the dove tailed rail to a Picatinny in addition to a muzzle brake. Tucked behind her waist in a holster, this golden pistol is mostly hidden by the tails of her shirt. Despite the heavy recoil and her rather thin arms, Amira has no trouble shooting single handedly with this massive gun. Even with the massive recoil, Amira is able to keep track of targets and shoot rounds in succession without needing to reacquire target after every shot. Still, for maximum accuracy, she uses both hands for the most part.

2 x Push Daggers
While the Desert Eagle can be drawn fast like any pistol, the pair of push daggers that Amira carry are much more inconspicuous and even faster to draw. Hidden on the underside of her cuffs on the inside of her sleeves, Amira can, with a flick of a finger, drop one of these daggers into each hand and hurl it at an enemy or stab an opponent preemptively. Despite its smaller size, Amira is a very capable user of fighting hand to hand with these two small blades.

1 x Akatsuki Bowie #2
A simple broader knife for when she needs something a bit bigger than her push daggers. It has a retention system on the sheath since she wears it upside down next to her gun. The majority of the knife is above her waist, with only a bit of the hilt sticking out pointing downwards. The retention system meant that the blade hangs there securely until Amira pulls it out.

Strength
Relatively weak. Amira isn't the physical type. A slap or punch from her would probably do little unless she goes for vitals such as genitals, untensed stomach, throat etc. It is why she uses small knives whenever she needs to fight. Funnily enough, she has no trouble handling the weapons with ease, such machine guns and her powerful Desert Eagle. She can handle the pistol with one hand, though she usually uses two hands.

Speed

Fast. Being a supposed non combatant on a battlefield and much much weaker than everybody else there, Amira has to depend on her speed to survive. She is quite capable of running fast enough that tracking her with guns can be an issue and her limb movements are a flurry when striking.

Vitality

Poor. A few hits to her in on the torso would bring her down. Arms and legs, not so much. As long as she keeps dodging, she is good. Her pain threshold is high, so she wouldn't curl up after a hit, making her able to fight till the last of those few blows.

Stamina/Endurance

Again, above average, but not stellar. Hard schedules and environment plus real life combat situations has at the very elast hammered some form of stamnia into Amira, even if she didn't plan to. Her guards has seen to it she even gets SOME stamnia training for her own good.

Reflexes
Fast. Her reflexes are top tier for normal humans. Living life on the edge develops a sixth sense of some sort. Also, her fighting style and weaker vitality has forced her to be fast on the draw and quick while dodging in order to survive. While in CQC, she can react fast to vitals that appear with a small window of opportunity and she can draw her pistol pretty darn fast.

Fighting Style

Amira tries to avoid confrontation as she really doesn't have a reason to be fighting anyone, being neutral and all. However, if things goes south, Amira can and will pull out a gun and start blasting. She is knowledgeable in firearm combat and can hold herself in a firefight, taking cover and shooting accurately and smartly. If guns is not an option, Amira would pull out her two push daggers from her sleeves and basically uses them as an extension of herself. Punches become stabs and she can whip her arms around and slash at people. Her style of melee is fast and minimalistic. Feints, sleight of hands and use of physics such as centrifugal force are all tactics she will use among many. Amira wouldn't outright kill someone. If they are incapacitated, then she would stop after she is sure they aren't faking it and wouldn't be getting back up.

Arcana

The Empress

Primary Element:
Ice

Secondary Element:
Healing/ White (Ironically)

Job/ Occupation
Amira is a broker. Not just any arms dealer from the streets. She deals in high end weaponry, form single order to bulk. She can provide stinger missiles, jets, tanks and military grade equipments to her clients down to single weapons, which she has done so in the warring regions all around the world. In addition to arms, Amira also spans into information, safe houses, mercenary contracts, the range of what she brokers and deals with is beyond just these. With the backing of an anonymous mega corporation and her own connections, she is able to make and complete deals of all kind, from legal ones to illegal ones.

Quote
"Thank you for your business."
"Have a nice day."
"You sure are energetic. Did something good happen?"
"There are no sides. Only clients and customers."

History
Amira was born from an Afghan woman and a Russian man. Her mother was an Afghan beauty from a well off family, while her father, Mikhail, was the corporation's top broker at that time. Upon a chance meeting, her mother fell in love with Mikhail and slept with him while he was in the district. After spending 2 weeks in Kabul, he left, saying that he may come back to Afghanistan later. This later was three years, in which Samira conceived Amira. Due to her having the baby out of wedlock, she was chased outside the family and had to live in a villiage farther off outside the city limits. When Mikhail returned to Afghanistan, Samira had already given birth to Amira. When word got to her that he had returned, she went to see him about their daughter. While Mikhail wasn't a total douchebag, he was conflicted with this dilemma. He had liked Samira, but not quite to the point of being tied down. Telling her to wait in the village for a few days so he can think and get his business done, he went about contemplating on a solution. As fate cruelly would have it, the village was razed in which Samira was killed in the conflict. Mikhail only managed to arrive with his entourage to catch Samira's dying breath. With the two year old Amira beside Samira, Mikhail took the small girl in. While he had not built a strong attachment to the girl, he still took responsibility as a father. Mikhail was never a family man. Instead of warmth and love, he educated and trained her in his path. He genuinely believed that he was giving her a gift of power and tools for life. It wasn't such a big loss for Amira as she was also not particularly attached to her father. Instead, she loved her mother dearly, hence her last name. Rather, she took advantage of it and absorbed every little bit of information about this line of work. Rather than a father daughter relationship, it reflected more of a a mentor pupil atmosphsere.

From birth till her 14th birthday, she was taught the workngs of being a broker and finally, on her 14th birthday, she was given reign to do a minor deal unsupervised. Richard, who originally worked with her father transferred to her team and filled in a semi quasi fatherly figure. Under his eyes, she began to gain more experience as a business woman and as a broker. As she matured out at 17, she had hired a few more guards as she has a reputation of her own now. It would be a further two years before she assumed her father's position as the corporation's best broker. Her father, on the other hand, rose to executive position and was theoretically, her superior. It did not affect her overly too much as she continued to do as she wanted. Over the next six years, she increased her team, from just Richard, Fei and Yuri to having Aya, Freja, Marcella, Nicholas and Gad join them. This entourage became a necessity as she dealt with large scale goods as well as classified information and a large range of activities. Her contact network is one of the most extensive of the underworld and as one of the world's most successful broker, her security was a major issue, hence the increase.

Amira decided to take a break from her recent trips through the Middle East, Africa and the Balkans. Taking a well deserved rest, she flew back to America. The house she was staying in was a safe house, making it a fortress itself, allowing Amira to take a breather. In America, Amira was relatively safe. Safe enough that with her own ability, she would be fine even if she was attacked. As a result, she had sent her guards off on errands across the country while a few stayed to guard the house. She continued to do business in luxury at home until Mikhail sent an order for her to go off to another warzone or whereever.

Hmm, guess I was too late to be an escapee or villain. Do you mind if I could be another villain, like one that helps the main one? He'd be like a General Leo from FF VI. works for the wrong side, but believes he's doing the wright thing. Or he could be some insane psycho. Either one I don't mind..

Approved Tipsy. Interesting character, and a pretty good representation of the Empress.

Dragon King, that would be fine. A more brutish, physically intimidating character on the antagonists's side would be great.

Name: Ace
Gender: Male
Age: Unknown
Birthplace: Finland, Helsinki
Height: 5"8
Appearance: Slim build. The only physical part seen is his ears. His skin is ghostly white and only minor parts can be seen such as his ears.

It is also to cover whatever monstrous face there is now. The whole front is glass while the other parts covering his head is a leather material complete with straps. He wears a full black recon suit that shows some silver lines, it is a full body suit with gloves that only his boots aren't part of the attire. He has loads of straps which hold his weapons and blades. When he is using magic his suit will glow silver to pulsate the force. (Drawings will be available)

Strength: He is physically average and can deliver strong blows. 6/10
Speed: Very fast in which he acts as an assassin. He can easliy outmaneuvre enemies. 9/10
Vitality: Not great, too many physical blows will defeat him. 3/10
Reflexes: Due to his biogenetics, he can only really respond well to instructions and not actions that require quick timing. 4/10
Stamina/Endurance: Average, he can last longer than most humans. 8/10
Other: Stealth/ He is extremely stealthy, 10/10.

Arcana ( if allowed): Justice
Element: Dark
Secondary: Holy
Weapons: Two machete-like blades. Two deagles. A carbine rifle with an adjustable scope and a set of throwing knives.
Occupation: Works as an assassin for the
main villain and as the right-hand man.
Quotes: "Silence is bliss."
"I think not of my enemy's tale, but know that his legacy lies on my hands."
"Judgement calls at a heavy price."
"My cause is righteous, I know I am doing justice."

Personality: The tall dark silent type, he rarely speaks except for his famous macho quotes or anything important. He is cold-blooded and merciless but by all means not evil at heart. He serves the villains because he thinks it will all lead to the right choice and bring the world in a great way one day. But his methods can be counted as cruel and will kill anyone that stands in his way for 'True Justice'. He is extremely loyal to those he serves and never withers, always trying to be proffesional. While his line of experience does not count without failures, he is an important asset to his master and is even known to kill his own teammates if they dare rebel. He is full of honour and pride and does not like innocents dying but if need be he will. He respects his enemies and will try to kill them as painlessly as possible, always allowing them one final sentence before they die (most of the time).

History: Once confirmed to be a bodyguard for many royals, he was undefeated in his line of work. But when his children and wife were captured by a hostile group one day (the main villain), he was forced to undergo their latest experiment in which configured his whole body horribly and a terrible explosion occured, killing the workers but only scarring his skin because of his configuration. When it scarred all of his skin, it changed it to white (in which the blood cells had malfunctioned) and was forced to wear his garments. This explosion gave him his powers and was then approached by the main villain, in which he served only because of his madness and no knowledge of him being the perpetrator. He also thinks that the main villain will find him a cure to regrow his skin and change him back to an ordinary human, but due to the slight madness; he thinks of the main villain as his master and serves him with undeniable loyalty.

Is that better?

Before you go any further, I'm iffy about you being so well rounded. None of your stats dip below 7/10. I'd rather you not have high speed based stats (Speed and reflexes) high physical stats (strength and vitality) and able to last a long time in a fight (stamina)

As you're a villain, high stamina is a given. I would prefer you being able to last in a fight. However, I'd rather you drop either the high speed or the high strength based stats. For reference, take a look at Amira above. She maintains decent stamina as well as good reflexes and speed. However, her vitality and strength suffer for this. Also refer to Alyss, who maintains low physical stamina but high magical stamina, along with high speed and reflexes and low strength. There's reasonable balance there.

As well as that, being able to reflect all magic from the beginning is a little much. I can accept the reflection of darkness and the nullification of light based abilities directed towards him, given his arcana. This would come naturally and would not require the mask. Other elements however, would have to hit. As a villain, your durability will increase as we proceed, but it's just a little much to start off.
