To be honest, I'd be surprised if a thread like this hasn't been done before. But I did a quick search and couldn't find anything so....

What do you enjoy doing with your spare time (besides FF and the like). Do you play any sports or do any martial arts? Do you dance or play an instrument? Do you enjoy drawing or making/crafting things? Are you learning a knew language? Do you collect anything?

I'm sure you guys get the point of this thread yeah?

Anyway, I enjoy playing the guitar. I have been taking lessons every week for the past 8 months and I play it pretty much everyday.

I have been breakdancing on and off for the past 7 years. I also do acrobatics, where I go to a big gymnastics centre to do flips and tumbling type stuff once a week.

What about you guys?
 
I also play the guitar. I've been playing it almost four years already. I joined the track team before when I was first year high school and switch to soccer three or four months later. I also enjoy extreme sports like skateboarding and I even tried performing parkour tricks. Those activities gave me lots of cuts and bruises :lol:. I also study mixed martial arts (I use a lot of joint locks and strikes xD) and eskrima/kali. I really enjoy studying them, especially eskrima/kali which involves lots of fighting styles including weaponry =))
 
Model making, architecture, sketching, playing video games, my list is endless. I like creating things the most since it offers some valuable alone time and requires some brain effort. At the end of it all I have something new to display on top of the coffee table or something, so there is some reward other than the reward of satisfaction and accomplishment.

Currently I have a collection of about 5 WWII military miniatures strung around my bedroom (srsly, those things are expensive off the box, maybe $50-60 a package, but they are awesome, so...) The best part about being done with a model is detailing it. You have to pay special attention to weathering (how to make a model look like it's aged about 50 years), decals, paints, etc. Alternatively you could...do nothing to it when you're finished assembling it.

I like model railroading too. Many people say it's an old person's hobby, but dammit, it's fun as hell. I like seeing those things run. >.>

And, of course, sketching. Though it's more of a passive activity for me nowadays, it's still really fun when there's nothing else I can do.
 
Mine's mostly in the way of sports since it keeps me more entertained than anything else and I'm pretty much an all round sports person, though naturally, like anyone, I'm better at some sports than other ones. It's mainly 5 a side since Football (soccer) is the best sport in the world >.>, although if someone asks to go swimming or a quick game of tennis I wouldn't object. I've tried learning the guitar but I just cba learning all the chords and stuff, I'd rather learn to play the piano >.>
 
I enjoy making music videos in my spare time and also writing.

Although they are based on FF so I guess it doesn't stray away too far from this place. XD

The next in line would have to be fishing, which I do nearly every weekend in Summer. (too cold in Winter) It's so relaxing and even if you don't catch anything it's still fun. =D We always choose different spots to fish so that their is a variety in our days out.

I enjoy bowling when I can afford it too. I used to play officially for 8 years. So I'm pretty good. XD

I don't really like sports but that one was more of a in door game that was easily enjoyed.
 
I love to draw and write my own stories. I've been brainstorming for one story as of late, and I plan to draw it out in comic format as well as write it out. I've been into art since I was a kid and always had my head in the clouds. Besides that, I play a lot of video games. My interests range from first-person shooters(Bioshock) and RPGs. I used to play WoW and other online games, but that's pretty dead to me now. One more other thing is anime and manga.. I like collecting them.
 
I really enjoy reading, I really wish I had more time for it these days. I've got around 300 books, and I actually have to stash them in my wardrobe since my last bookshelf broke. I'll read just about anything, I just really wish I had more time for it these days.

Photoshop. When I'm bored photoshop is a great way to kill time. I love just being able to open it and fart around with a random image. It's very stress-relieving and it's awesome being able to say "I created that" when you've finished.

Oh and driving. Driving is so much fun! I try to spend as much time as possible driving in my car with my mother supervising, so I can pass my test that much quicker. I really can't wait to pass my test, I just find driving so fun xD
 
Let's see...there's video games, GFX, drawing/painting, singing, playing the piano (or rather, keyboard), take my dog out for a walk at a high school track, and playing legos with my daughter. :D There's other stuff, but those are the main ones. Not really an outdoor type of person. I used to be but now typically most things are done indoor.

Oh, every two weeks or so we also go out for movies since we get in for free. ;) Hook-ups and all. (Bro-in-law is a supervisor there).

Then there's also gym, which is pretty cool since I only pay $10 for a 5 month membership. The reason it's so cheap is because it's through our college (1/2 unit = $10, which is the one I'm taking) and we must have 26-30 hours by the end of the semester to get an A. I need 1/2 more unit to make it a full unit and that takes care of my P.E criteria. But even so, I like going to the gym so I'll still continue taking that 1/2 unit (since it's the cheapest) even after I meet the criteria, and get like 30 hours or more gym time per semester. :D Might as well take advantage of it, eh?

I like to draw and paint,but Im too bone idle to do it often =/ Reading is something I LOVE ever since I was a nipper Ive had my snout in a book. Hmm... playing on my ps2, not that i do that jmjuch anymor eeither

does going out and drinking count? D:
 
I've always had a creative urge in me to design my own characters, worlds and stories. I've just failed to find a medium through which to express these creative urges.

I tried writing, but I feel I lack the skill in that.

I tried drawing comics, but I more than felt that I couldn't draw :P.

I'd be in a musical band, but I can't sing or play any instruments, and would be too self-conscious to do it evenif I could.

I've settled instead for making a game, which is something that thankfully, in aid of RPG Maker programs, can be made quite easily, and with patience (sprite drawing, tileset drawing, scripting etc) I can make whatever I want.

And it's working ok. Alright, I admit my first two attempts at making games fell into the pit of EPIC FAIL. They were ok, but I never finished them and probably never will, and there were lots of loopholes in the plot and many glitches. However I'm not working in a team, which I am directing, of some friends and friends of friends, who will be working on the game a lot over the summer and hopefully get this show on the road.

I've been working on the plot, developing mythologies and culture for each society the player will come across, and also the main plot. I've been drawing up sprites as well which I'm improving at.

Finally I can express myself! Years of repressed thoughts and desires can be unleashed! All my superhero ideas, I can all heap them up and give them cameos in my game, it's absolutely epicool. :D



But yeah, other than that...
I like to go on the PS3 and stuff... I like to go on here...

And I used to be a runner, but I had to pack that in as I could never keep up with the competitive side of it, and I was slowing down the group due to repeated illness and tiredness due to school exams and general fail.

I tried several different fighting classes (god don't ask me to remember what type of Kwo or Ju or Jin they were), but they all ended up with either bad payment schemes, or the realisation that I probably wouldn't belong there. :monster:



So now hobby wise the main thing going on for me is my game.
 
Uhm ugh thers not much going nowadays, at the weekends i usually spend my time in the bar ><
I used to play the guitar but i lost interest in it a while back, its something im wanting to pick up again though, i miss the drunken sing a longs. I used to play football and basketball quite regularly aswell but again i havent done that in ages either, in fairness the weather here i sterrible so its not like i can go down the astro turf for a game with my mates whenevver i feel like it >< I really quite like doing stuff with photoshop nowadays, but if i had no internet i probadly wouldnt keep doing it as id have no one to rate my work. Im gunna have to get in the habit of doiung stuff regularly again, im usually tired after work and can never be arsed doin nowt bar sitting on the computer -__-
 
Like some of you have, I've also been taking guitar lessons. I've been taking them for almost a year and a half now. Unfortunately I don't get much time to play, so finding time to practice is sometimes difficult. I've definitely seen a major improvement of late though. I have 2 guitars and a Line 6 Spider Amp. My 2 guitars are an Ibanez (I'll have to look up the model) and a PRS SE Custom (PRS = Paul Reed Smith). I've been working on rock based music with some metal as well. For now I'm trying to keep it simple, no soloing yet. Probably the 2 songs I can play best are Slither by Velvet Revolver and One Step Closer by Linkin Park.
 
I play the piano, write and draw sometimes, but my main thing is X-country. I run long distances in a club that I joined and when we moved to England we just joined a new one. (p.s. the boys are cute...:D). I play PS2 and DS games and just about 2 or 3 years ago I discovered the joy of the web! BOW DOWN TO IT!!! lol
 
I paint, that's probably my biggest hobby/passion. =]
I also do a lot of graphics/web design (mostly it's for my own FF forum). At the moment, I'm doing a lot of spriting for the Store there; making weapons and such.

Aside from that I play guitar, or a few choice games.
 
I play World of Warcraft in my spare time (Thunderhorn ftw!) on my shadow priest.

in real life, I volunteer at the library once a week on a Tuesday or Saturday and of course, go to highschool Monday to Friday.

I would love to be more social as my friends in real life are not too outgoing and spontaneous. I used to have a very involved internet life, but that died away. I'm looking to get some of it back.
 
I mainly skateboard, as i have been doing for the past 4 years. It's something i enjoy alot. I also play paintball when i get the time.
 
Play the piano keyboard on and off. Also played the violin for a while but then it was returned to the shop because it cost too much. For both of these, I watch random videos of music on YouTube and print the sheet music of the most interesting ones off the internet. I also put the music into tracker form on Madtracker, sort of the same program used to compose eletronica and game music on the Nintendo consoles, when there's no internet (every afternoon).

For some reason I collect books: once every month I go to the library and borrow at least 5. I must've borrowed at least 300 in the last 3 years but~ most of them went half-read. Most of them are also manga ._. By CLAMP, Yellow Tanabe, Kentaro Yabuki, and Kosuke Fujishima.

Right now, I'm collecting books on the subject of philosophy and knowledge. On Plato and Socrates atm. Reading on the subjects on the 'net as well.

A real hobby (done every day) is thinking/contemplating <__< About stuff. Family issues and how to solve them, the meaning of life and dreams, origins of everything, technologies of the future, situations, finances, the education system, ideas and such.

Which leads to ideas on writing - stories and the worlds in which they take place. I read stories and take in everything; every word having meaning and spoken in the voice of Tilda Swinton or that English woman narrating the Lord of the Rings and creating all together lucid images.

Discovered forums and then the rest of the web I didn't know existed in October '07, automatically a hobby bordering on addiction.

And listening to music.

Anyways, gotta add botany/horticulture/gardening to that list now. I've been collecting so many plants lately it's been pissing the mothership off. :wacky: I can't help it, it's like Pokemons. Whenever I see some cool new plant I immediately want to have it. Then make new plants out of it. Then plant it.
 
Oh myyy. These days, I can't say I do anything productive in my spare time. This thread made me realize this :rage:

I like watching series. Non-stop. This started with my Supernatural addiction. I finished all seasons in less than a month. Then I moved on to Fringe, Cardcaptor Sakura, Flame of Recca, Family Guy.

I also got back into watercolor painting. I found my paint and brushes two months ago, so I decided to buy a new sketchpad. I don't show anyone though, because I think they're bad. :wacky:

I take pictures. I love photography. Lately I've been learning to just rely on my camera settings - trying to become somewhat of a purist. I purchased a 50mm lens which has no motor function so it's all manual shooting. Out of everything, I think this is my most current hobby.

I might add more if I think of any. :hmmm:
 
Well, I use most of my free time reading novels. Mostly investigative/crime novels by James Patterson, John Sanford and the likes. I don't know but I always feel relaxed whenever I read. :funnyface:
