Game Reviews Guidelines

This section will contain our official game reviews written by our members. Interested in having your reviews officially published on FFF? Then step right up and describe exactly how it is. Good or bad reviews, they might just be the deciding factor for a lot of members that are looking to purchase a certain game. Or perhaps they might simply be interested in reading an engrossing game review, so here is where you have a chance to play a major part.

Rules and Guidelines

  • You are to submit your game reviews in a private section of the forum, Reviews Approval Section. As soon as the staff reads and approves your review, it will then be moved to the main section so that it can be viewed in public. Please note that the main forum is closed for posting.

  • Each ‘review’ category must require a minimum of 5 sentences (although if it's at least lengthy, we might accept 4 sentences). This is to encourage writers to be as detailed as possible and not write a hasty review. We are expecting some spectacular reviews, so try to make it interesting as possible.

  • Please be aware of your grammar and spelling. If the spelling and grammar are to an excessive extent, then most likely the review will be denied. If in any case your review is denied for some reason, you are most welcome to make the necessary changes and submit it again after two days have passed. This is to ensure the quality and quantity of the review and that you are taking your time to make some changes.

  • Do NOT post any major spoilers. Remember, this is a 'review'. You are not supposed to narrate a story - you are simply reviewing it. If you do go into more details, do watch out for major spoilers - otherwise, your review will be denied.

  • Lastly, please note the platform for the game that you are writing for on the top of the review. (Is the review for a PS2 or XBox platform?)

Now let’s look at the format. Please follow the suggested template below, write the review accordingly (remember, a minimum of 5 sentences), and grade each 'category' based on a scale out of 1-10. Feel like adding more to your review? You're most certainly welcome to do so.

FFF’s Scoring System
Here at FFF, we will have the staff and members rate the games they’ve reviewed to give you, the reader a general brief on whether or not the game you are interested in is worth the purchase. The scoring system is also a quick way for you to see the game’s rating without having to read the whole review and just skip to the important part, however, for a detailed analysis on the game that is being reviewed, you will have to read the review itself and not just the score.

10.0: Perfection – As the rating suggest, this game is absolutely perfect with no flaws and is also the score that every game aspires to achieve before release. However, because the large majority are not perfect, members must be wary when using a 10 and must use consistent and valid points to back up this rating.

9.1-9.9: Astonishing An ‘Astonishing’ rating is essentially a must buy, although there will be minor flaws and imperfections within the game, these are easily overlooked by the overall quality of the game and will definitely be talked about over the coming years.

8.1-9.0: Fantastic – A game rated as ‘Fantastic’ will be still a quality purchase, pretty much everything involved in the game from voice acting to storyline or graphics to music are superb, however, there is notable room for improvement although it shouldn’t affect your game playing experience that much overall. A game you should definitely look out for!

7.1-8.0: Great – This game is still recommended as a buy, however, unlike the rating of ‘Fantastic’, the faults in the game are far more noticeable and whilst the pros about this game will definitely outweigh the cons, the cons are fairly obvious and could definitely have been improved.

6.1-7.0: Satisfying – These games are more aimed towards the fans of that particular genre and have significant flaws that could deter you away from the game. If you are interested in buying this game but aren’t sure if you’d like it, renting it is the sensible option as there are definite aspects that could be improved to bump it up to the next level.

5.1-6.0: Mediocre – This means that the game is either average to every other game or just worse, in which you may be looking to spend your money elsewhere. The negative points about this game either balance out the positive points or are more noticeable. On the whole, there are probably far superior games similar than you may want to look into.

4.1-5.0: Substandard – Probably the type of game that you’ll wish to avoid unless you’re a hardcore fan of the series or particular game. Whilst the game will have minor positive points, the negative points will most likely sway you away from this game and probably didn’t have enough effort put into the making of it.

3.1-4.0: Poor – What effort has been put into this title was poor. You’ll want to stay away from this game as it will have very little, if anything, positive about it and all-in-all isn’t worth the rental cost let alone the RRP.

2.1-3.0: Awful – Just stay away from this game at all costs, don’t waste time and money on this game, or even think about purchasing it as it will be almost unplayable.

1.0-2.0: Disastrous – Just as the rating suggests, this is as bad as a game can get, It is made up entirely of weaknesses and negativity and you would be a fool to purchase this game, hardcore gamer or not, don’t even contemplate spending money on it. It is the unplayable game of games.
