I thought about it, and found out that this was the best place to place this.
Also, I didn't know I could post here ^^
(If it is to be moved, so be it)

So, the questions is;
what is the reason that you RP.
Don't reply wit ha "because it is fun" or something short.
please explain
---------------------

I RP because it gives me the opportunity to actually be someone.
In read life, I am a nobody, and average geek, that sits in all day.
I have close to no friends, and the ones i have, have jobs, and their own lives.

I am firstly a gamer by heart, but games are limited to what the creators allow you to do.
A RP has no limits.

If I would like to do something that was possible in real life.
I can do it in a RP.
No games are 100% accurate. And RP's don't have bugs.

I have always wanted magical abilities, or other skills.
The skills I know in real life. Is mostly computer and gaming. The rest is hardly legal (lock picking, assassination, such things)

So. I get to live out a few dreams, as well as let out a little steam from now and then.

So. shortened.
I RP because for that time I am writing, or reading.
I am away from my worn miserable life, and can be somebody.

I RP because I love writing and I love reading. Easily two of my favorite things. This is an easy way to do both, and also a good way to let out my creativity. I go to an Art School, so I have plenty. I'm actually going to post an RP soon, based on a Tonberry Culture, if anyone is interested, please PM me. I know you all love Tonberries, right? Check it!

I RP because I enjoy writing, and sharing my imagination.

I only participate in RPs that I view as challenging in some sense, and strive to always pull surprises and tricks within the Storylines to make it all worthwhile.

I've been RPing since I was 9 years old, and I've been addicted to it ever since. It's great to be able to write, yet have the fun of interacting with another writer, or several writers, and seeing how your characters interact, and what events will spawn as a result.

Like everyone else, a love of writing is the reason. I love reading other people's stuff about as much as I like writing my own, so RP is the natural way to go. Casual RP is one of the best ways for a writer of any skill level to get some practice.

I love to RP for a few reasons, but my main one, is because I feel like I can really express myself and my true emotions through my character. It's like I don't have to hold back, and I can really show my other self through RPing. I'm also a hardcore gamer, so that's another thing that makes it awesome. :P I love to write, and I actually have based some of my characters off of RP's I've been in, and the ideas people bring into RP's inspire me each day, so I always look forward to new posts from people, and being able to respond and create a wicked awesome tale.

I RP because:

- One I don't like the boringness of our world so its allways nice to justimagine not being in it for a short while.

- Two, I get to express myself.

- Three I get to be someone else for a change, someone who can do things out of the ordinary.

I RP because I'm a writer, and it's the best way to release my imagination. I've been RPing since I was 11 (a couple less years than Contra, darn :P) and since then, I've grown to like writing and storytelling and all that jazz. Now I have a quasi-intense form of carpal tunnel, so I can't RP nearly as much anymore... but I still do, because it's kind of addicting. ^_^

I rp as I find it quite enjoyable. In real life I am constantly stuck in and have next to nothing exciting to do. When I rp I can be anyone, I can do anything without concequence. I also do it as I have a lot of imagination that needs to be put to good use. Being a hardcore gamer I get plenty of time to improve my ideas and expand upon them, I also try my hand at writing at times which lets me create my own world, my own problems, my own story.

For some unknown very evil reason, I have a very crazy imagination which is forever in hyperdrive. Well except for when I am playing vid games or sleeping.

I also love reading tales about fantasy based elements. I read for the story, I play RPG's for the story, I watch movies for the story.

So the main reason I RP is to be a part of an evergrowing story.

I Role-Play because it is fun. It is an excellent tool for sharpening the mind, and it is enthralling to write stories and fiction.

But, more than any of that, I write because it is social. Outside of FFF, I'm a social guy, and love to hang with my friends. This is another way of doing that, albeit with e-friends instead of RL-friends. It's just very interactable, and it drives my mind to come up with new ways to interact with the people (or their characters).

Also, I'm going to sticky this. It's an excellent idea for a topic.

*Stickies*

I rp because to me it is practice for writing stories. I have been writing since my freshman year of high school, but I was never really good at developing the relationships between my characters. when I rp, I like to study the way others respond to my characters. I still have bit to learn so I'm still doing it.

@hera
OMG, one of my topics where stickied ^^
WOO.

Well. it seems that most that posted here, is not too far from one another.

some pay use it to "get away" from their normal life, and "be someone".

others for the sole idea to socialize.

In the end, we all do it for the fun on it.
It is really cool to read the ideas, and reasons for the various RP'ers. to see the connection in between the words.

Often when making a RP character, one tends to make him/her(/it have what you never could have. Or wish to have yourself.
And as it where stated, "I can do anything without consequence"

So, yes. We are all close to the same. And we like the way we can to whatever we wish.
To compensate for the boring world we live in.

if nothing else. this is my opinion.

I was reluctant to participate in forum roleplays before, since I've never considered myself a writer. When I finally decided to enter one, it was a fan based FF RP. I guess that's what really got me to enjoy it all. It's like sharing a fan-fiction with others.

I RP Because:
-It helps me to learn more vocabulary.
-Because I love writing.
-It helps me to escape from the cruel reality of this world.
-It helps me to socialize.
-It allows me to take different roles.
-It helps me to forget about problems.
-It allows me to share my imagination with others, something I wouldn't normally do in real life.
-It allows me to have dreams....

I agree with all of the above, except one. How can you socialise while sitting before a PC? o_O

I guess I rp because I want to create something. I do like the idea of peoples ideas gelling together and creating something amazing, and RP'ing give you that op. Though I haven't RP'd on this site yet, I'll soon be starting.

Yo really do get to see different sides of people in an RP as well, romantic, agressive, passionate, it's like a gang of mini script writers. And that idea fascinates me beyond belief.

In short, I RP to pretend to be what I'm not. I love the idea of having special abilities and powers. Role playing let's your imagination come out.

I also love creating stories and characters, and acting them out, as to develop them. Lotsa good practice for stories as well.

I know this thread is like years old (well, months, but you know what I mean) and I want to say how I feel.

I RP because it's fun in general. You can defy the laws of Earth and go wild with it. You can set your imagination loose in an environment when you don't have to worry about being in trouble (except X rated situations).
