Fair enough for Foals and Joe Lean & The Jing Jang Jong, but I'm really surprised you haven't heard the other three. Had Enough and Away From Here (The Enemy) were both really big singles earlier in the year. The Pigeon Detectives have had a pretty strong year (I'm Not Sorry and I Found Out) and The Wombats have been played a lot over the last few months with Let's Dance To Joy Division and Moving To New York.

Actually, I have heard of them, what I meant though was that I've never heard any of their songs. Although I probably have, just wouldn't know it.

Anyone else notice how all the bands are all the same, there's about 6-8 bands in this.

NME you're failing, pull out now, while you still can.

Those new bands will be gone come next year, and we'll still have Muse, Radiohead, Coldplay(The big three) Arctic monkeys will be gone probably.

Kate Nash gone.

And some other "i want to be a rockstar and make lots of money" groups will turn up and further degrade music.

I think the best thing there is Hot Fuzz, and it's not even music-related. :monster:

That is why I don't bother with all this shite anymore

Theres hardly anything decent around anymore. Theres too much pop pap & RnB crap floating around. Makes me angry :wacky:

NME isn't about pop and rap. It's indie and the like. Hence why people like Mika are up for the bad awards.

I know that >_< My point was there isnt ENOUGH of it, the market is riddled with too much crap

I pretty much second this, NME has been pretty poor for years now, and these awards show how average most 'on the surface indie' is at the moment. Muse are good, but have done no new stuff since summer of 2006, so why even nominate them? And the fact Radiohead aren't even in the Best British Band category makes the whole thing null and void anyway. In Rainbows isn's even their best album and it's still miles better than anything else in that Best British Album category.

I agree with all of this post, indie is dying, like punk did, with all the new wave punks, we're getting shitty new wave indie bands.

I give it about a year or so, if that.

And maybe like the largely hideous Britpop too in the mid 90s, which hit saturation point in the end. Just like seems to be happening now. The USA and Canada certainly seems to have the beating of the UK for 'indie' or anything within that realm for the present time.

I don't pay much attention to the current wave of mainstream music (been drifting away from it since early november), but judging by that awards list I can see Indie as most people know it fucking off pretty soon, I couldn't careless, something more hideous is bound to spring up anyway eventually.

The results:
Best British Band: Arctic Monkeys
Can't argue there. 2007 was a great year for them.

Best International Band: The Killers
I was really surprised at this. To me, they haven't done anything special in a long time. I was really disappointed with Sawdust, but I suppose it appealed to some people.

Best Solo Artist: Kate Nash
I expected it to be either her or Jack Penate really. I'm not a fan of any of her, but I won't deny that she's been successful.

Best New Band: The Enemy
Shocked is an understatement. They were successful, and their album was a big hit, but I think they're awful. All four of the other nominees are far better than these, and I really expected one of them to win it.

Best Live Band: Muse
I can't comment, since I didn't get to see them at Wembley, but apparently it was one of the best gigs of the last decade.

Best Album: Myths Of The Near Future - Klaxons
I'm happy about that. It's a really good album. I though Favourite Worst Nightmare was better, but this is certainly deserving of it.

Best Track: Fluorescent Adolescent - Arctic Monkeys
It's a great track, so I won't complain about that.

Best Video: Teddy Picker - Arctic Monkeys
I really preferred Flux by Bloc Party, because Power Rangers-like monsters dancing in the city ftw. :wacky:

Best Music DVD: Unplugged In New York - Nirvana.
I haven't seen any of the nominated DVDs, so I have no opinion here.

Best Live Event: Reading and Leeds Festival
I've not been yet, but I'd love to one day. It certainly looks like it'd be one of the best events.

Best TV Show: The Mighty Boosh
Sadly, I've never seen it so I really wanted Skins to win. Must get around to buying The Boosh though, because I hear nothing but praise for it.

Best Radio Show: Zane Lowe (Radio 1)
I don't like him at all. Chris Moyles is far better.

Best Film: Control
I haven't seen it, but I really can't imagine it being better than Hot Fuzz. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are just amazing.

Best Website: Facebook
Meh, I wasn't too bothered about that award since I rarely use any of them.

Best Venue: Wembley Stadium
I'd love to see a show there one day. Or even get the chance to go there again. I haven't been since it was rebuilt.

Hero Of The Year: Pete Doherty
Fuck off, the guy is a twat. He deserves an awards for doing drugs and being sent to rehab? NEXT!

Villain Of The Year: George Bush
It just shows how much us Brits hate America.

Best Dressed: Noel Fielding
I don't know who he is so I can't comment.

Worst Dressed: Amy Winehouse
Ha!

Worst Album: Blackout - Britney Spears
Again, ha! They were all awful though.

Worst Band: The Hoosiers
To give them credit, I did like Worried About Ray a lot. But Goodbye Mr. A made me want to put a bullet through my head.

Sexiest Man: Noel Fielding
Who?

Sexiest Woman: Kylie Minogue
Hayley is much fitter. But I'm not all that surprised.

Godlike Genius: Manic Street Preachers
I wouldn't go as far as saying they're Godlike, but they certainly are genius' and legends. Fair play to them.

Phillip Hall Radar Award: Glasvegas
Okay, I don't actually know what this awards is for.

John Peel Award For Musical Innovation: Radiohead
They're always getting praise for being so innovative and changing the way the music industry operates, so I'm not surprised. Sadly, I just can't get into them.

Best Dancefloor Filler: Let's Dance To Joy Division - The Wombats
It really does get everyone on the dancefloor, so well done there.

Best Album Artwork: The Good The Bad and The Queen - The Good The Bad and The Queen
Who? I don't have the album so n/a.

Best Band Blog: Radiohead
I haven't read it, so no comment.

Best Music Blog: The Modern Age
What?

Klaxons' live performance of Atlantis to Interzone to open the show was superb, and I wish the show hadn't hadn't finished before Manic Street Preachers had.
