Delita: Good or Evil?

alright well obviously delita was ramza's best friend. but as the story progresses i bounced back and forth trying to figure out whether he was a good guy or a bad guy. he wasn't sided with the shrine knights and the high priest, or goltana, or larg. he just wanted to put ovelia on the throne. he used many people in the process and killed many, but he also helped ramza when he was in trouble. but even after he acheived his goal of getting ovelia on the throne, he kills her too. so obviously my question is...do you think delita is good or evil?

There is no "good" or "bad" just different views with different goals. Delita was just trying to make Ovelia a monarch and to become king to save Ivalice. Which he did well, until Ovelia stabbed him, that is. >:C

I also don't think he killed Ovelia, rather knocked her unconscious.

A bit of both. He has good intentions and bad ittentions. I think later in the story he is corrupted by power.

He is one of the greatest characters in FF history.

What "power" is he corrupted by? His goal was achieved and never strayed from it's original motive or plan. He had done what he had set out to do after Teta saved him. In the end he was killed by a fake princess with a dagger.

Well he started out as a servant, the tougher he became the more people he killed. Delita wanted to become King. What have Kings got? - Power.

Still he was corrupted by power. Kings have power and that is what Delita wanted whether he died or not.

More like, he just wanted to use Ovelia in order to get himself to the throne. Keep in mind Delita is a peasant & because of that his status would technically never get any higher than a peasant.

He only got as far as he did because Ramza became friends with him. Delita's ties with Ramza were the only reason why anyone in the royal family gave him the time of day.

He really only helped Ramza when it met in accordance with what he was doing. Delita is ambitious. After all, he did tell Ramza that if he got in his way he would kill him & not think twice about it.

but even after he acheived his goal of getting ovelia on the throne, he kills her too.

He was done with her. Her birth - even if fake - allowed him to marry her & take the throne as King. What use did she serve to him after that. He didn't love her.


After his sister died, Delita becomes a different person altogether. I don't really think it's more or less "good" & "evil" as it is what each person's perception of "right" & "wrong" is. Delita felt pretty much crapped on his entire life, so he did what he had to to make things "right".

was it ovelia that stabbed him? it looked to me like he stabbed her as he did have the knife in his hand but i could be wrong. and delita was really confusing because he said "i'd give my life for her" so i really dont think he was just using her to get to the throne, i think he had strong feelings for her and he probably loved her, whether he realized it or not. and how do we know he died? maybe he just got a bad wound, there's no proof that he died. i think he was corrupted by his ideals rather then power, it just so happened that after killing so many important people of high prestige he was given power..this delita fellow is a very interesting character.

I think it's a bit that is left to be assumed that he had died. That one last bit... "Is this all where it ends..? What did you gain from all of this, Ramza?"

I think those sound like dying words.

And I definitely agree. Delita pnwed. I loved his character. It was just something about him that drives me wild about his character.
