The Paths of Tragedy
Title: The Paths of Tragedy
Current Time: Unknown
Regions Involved: Albadran Empire, Kingdom of Seseu, and many other areas.
Summary:
The Kingdom of Seseu is under attack by the Aldabran Empire. Sir Cairn has been demoted for failing to protect the frontier that divides Aldabra and Seseu, thus allowing the Aldabran Empire to start their conquest on the southwest, where the Kingdom of Seseu is located. So far 1/4 of the Kingdom of Seseu has been conquered, and the imperial army seemed to have gained the upper hand in this battle. The world is once again caught in a spiral of war, hatred and sadness, and the guardians of life watch in disgust as the land is torn apart, thus planning to end the war and the hatred born out of the hearts of humankind once and for all.
Name of Locations: to be used for future reference in the RP.
*Port Town of Vaid: a commercial city ruled by governor Taden Almeria, the city of Vaid being the central point of traders, inns, a Colosseum and the lands largest port for transport by sea and air.
* Forest of Nadian: famous for its abundant flora and fauna and for hiding the secrets of the Ancient Temple within its woods.
*Ice Forest of Dian: a forest whose greener was covered of a place overrun with pine trees, ever green watchers of this not fully explored, ice region. The forest of Dian is said to be magical, and its the home of the elves.
*Seseau Mountainous Region: The mountainous region of Seseau begins to the northwest of the land, with the high cliffs of Milian, an abandoned region overrun with monsters and has little to zero vegetation, the ice peaks of Laen to the north serving as a natural frontier that makes it hard for invaders to pass through this area, the Ohen Canyon, and seemingly bottomless hole that leads to the underground Salek Mines, guarded by the dwarves.
*Helena Fortress or "Seseu Sanctum": The Helena Fortress to the southwest, surrounded by a series of mountains that make the path of the Fortress of Helena the only way to access Seseu by land.
*City of Palacious/Saleria Castle/other villages: many other villages and towns are scattered through the land of Seseu, the most important being the city of Palacious, the largest city of the Kingdom of Seseu, famous for its unique beauty and for being the center of the kingdom, having the Saleria Castle. The Saleria Castle is large, having over 50 rooms distributed between the lower levels for the soldiers and their training facilities, the mid-levels having the main hall, the kitchen, the library and the courtyard outside, and the upper levels being the throne room, and the chambers of the high ranking general and commanders, and guests, as well as the last floor being the chambers of the royal family. The ballroom is located to the south of the castle, connected by a passageway of beautiful fountains and gardens.
-Mountain Town of Vad: a miner town guarded by the dwarves as well as several other humans, goblins and various mystical creatures.
-The village of Baid, simplistic and quiet, was a contrasting scenario to the crowded Colosseum located near the Celeste Ruins.
-The Master Blacksmith's Hut: located near the high cliffs of Milian, the master blacksmith known as Taden, a 50 years old retired knight, is well renown for it skills with the crafting tools, said to create weapons worthy of being wielded by angels.
Asei Village: an old town near the forest of Nadian, famous for its many farms and peaceful escenario. The mayor, Giano, is a wise and kind old man and a great leader.
*More towns will be added soon.....
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For a man who have fallen in disgrace, recovering his honor would be his main goal, but not for Cairn, he would fight not only for his honor, but to recover his own life. Ever since he was expelled from the royal knights, sir Cairn abandoned his title as a nobleman and set on a quest to proof his innocence. Betrayed and left for dead for his sudden disappearance, the man carrying his trusty huge sword, a family memento, found himself in an old tavern within the port town of Vaid. The name of the Inn was the "North Wind", and it was owned by Lerks Goodman, a 45 years old man with long mustache and beard that nearly reached his torso, wearing an old green jacket and old black pants. Most of the travelers pass by this Inn, where they meet with old friends and start new journeys. Now we will see to where does his fate leads him.
If you were to enter the Inn, you would see that Cairn is to the left corner, sitting on a small wooden chair next to a large glass window. The day seems to be cloudy, to the point of possibly raining any moment. His sword was set before him, lying resting on the circular table that also had on top his beverage and a vase with some yellow and white flowers, beautiful to the eye. The illumination was moderately dim, cleared by a few candles and the light coming through the other windows. Cairn had a mouthful of liquor, possibly Vaid Spirits, famous for putting at ease the soul of any human or beast. As he explored with his calmed eyes his surroundings, Cairn could notice a small flier on a small wooden board held by several nails on the wall.
Several imperial soldiers have been scouted to the south of Helena Fortress. The king and the royal army is doing all within their power to stop them, but it appears that the imperials have the upper hand with their new "technology".
Cairn smirked, seeing that if it weren't for the incident at Helena Fortress, the Kingdom of Seseu wouldn't be facing these grim times. "Maybe it's time to pay a visit to an old friend in Palacious."

OOC: ok. I'm totally lost, way too many places, and too little reference.
Or I might have missed it. Even so. I will do it simple.
I will be at the same "town" as Julius.
And for the sake of future things, Ill be entering the same Inn.
Yes I know, over used. see if I care... ^^
---------------------------------------
Jonad had been walking for some time. He was for once in ages, low on money. So he could not take a ship.
He mumbled to himself, as he entered the main gates to the Port Town of Vaid.
"Finally" he thought to himself. He was thirsty, and hungry.
As he looked around, he saw various soldiers, seeming ready to attack at any given reason.
Jonad came from a far away kingdom. He had been payed to get there, to heal a lord of some kind. But the thing is, the lord was assassinated long before the sickness could do much. "Ironic" Jonad thought.
Since he was not from this place, he had little knowledge of what was going on.
He had heard something about the opposing forces. The Kingdom of Seseu is under attack by the Aldabran Empire.
"Bah, they are all the same" Jonad mutters to himself. After all, war is rarely nessesairy.
the more casualties, the greater the victory. Madness, and slaughter. Who could gain honor from that.
There where but a few warriors that where truly honorable. But they where to be counted on ones hands.
Nonetheless. Jonad had a feel for an Ale. He was not as loaded of money as he used to, but he would take himself this opportunity.
He looked around, and noted a tavern looking building. "North Wind" was the name.
He walked over, and opened the door, a creak was heard, and the warmth, and smell of food came along.
As he entered, some of the occupiers gave shifty eyes towards him. No doubt regarding his look.
Most of them looked rather usual, bounty hunters perhaps. And some ex-soldiers.
In the left corner, sitting on a small wooden chair next to a large glass window, sat one that looked different. He looked like a middle aged mad, in his 30'ies, and had seen a few battles. Or so it seemed at least.
Jonad didn't think of it that much. he just went over to the barkeep, and ordered a daily special, and a large mug of ale.
After his order was placed, he walked to an avalible table at the right hand side (if entering) along the wall.
He sighed, and was glad to be able to sit, and the waiting time for the food, and ale, seemed like an eternity.

OOC: please correct me if there is something ^^

OOC: Perfectly made. Sorry but I think that by trying to cover every detailed I made this RP a bit confusing :S
IOC:
As he awaited for his nourishment to be served, a few pieces of bread and some chicken stew, Cairn could not avoid to see the noteworthy presence of a someone that resemblances some kind of monk, perhaps a healer. As he drank the last of his liquor, Cairn summoned one of the maids and asked her for something more smooth, perhaps a glass of white wine. The maid was a beautiful blond, with light tanned skin and charming blue eyes. Her lips were red and fair in size, and her face was quite angelical. With a smile, she took his order, grabbed the glass he had already consumed, and left towards the bar. Time passed, and nothing in particular happened aside from another man storming inside looking for trouble.
"Where's that bastard of Sir Cairn!!! I'll kill him for abandoning his own country in a time of need! He is too arrogant to admit his guilt for failing to secure Helena Fortress!!"
The man, who was 6 feet 7 inches tall with broad shoulders, strong arms and legs, bald, with a small beard and mustache and with a scar over his left eye, drew his huge double edged battle axe. He breathed heavily and explored all around him with his furious, adrenaline pumped, black eyes. "Come out you coward!!!"
Cairn could not resist anymore, so he took his longsword and walked towards the center of the tavern, where he would meet this man face to face. Not intimidated by the size of his opponent, Cairn stood before him without even showing an ounce of fear. "It seems you found me again after all, who sent you this time Gade?"
The man stood firm before Cairn, tightening the grasp he had on the handle of his battle axe. "You left your comrades, Cairn. We never cared if you were disgrace because we believed in you....now the kingdom is regretting that unfair justice that was cast upon you...I came..." the man close his eyes and slowly as he rose his axe. Cairn quickly realized his opponent's intentions. "...to see if you became the coward they speak off!!" the man called Gade brought his axe downwardly upon Cairn, who quickly stepped back to dodge it. The axe struck the wooden floor, clearly leaving a deep gash on it. "Was there any need for calling me arrogant? You could have just asked why I left...meh"

OOC: Sorry this is so long, I got caught up in the moment.
“Out of the way!” a voice echoed from outside the large chamber, “I said move! That pig will pay for his insolence!”
The guards hurried to open the door, but whoever was on the outside got to it first. The doors flew open with a resounding crash that must have been audible for a mile. Standing in the doorway was a gruff man in his late forties, his remaining hair pulled back into a ponytail. His armor marked him as one of the captains of the Aldabran main army. Glancing menacingly at the guards that were backing away in shock, he strode up the middle of the room to where a young man in dyed green armor and a tunic with the emblem of the Order of the Sword on the front was sitting, his head resting on his right hand.
“Skaol! You were given orders to acquire rations from the village of Benefield!” the man spat, his face becoming exponentially purpler with every word. “What I’d like to know, and I’m sure I speak for the entire Aldabran Empire, is…”
He was, at this point, interrupted by Skaol’s hand sliding out from under his cheek, which caused him to slump harshly to the right, his unconscious face pointed right at the ceiling. One of the guards that had been standing outside finally built up the courage to speak.
“Er… we were trying to tell you, Captain Skaol is sleeping, and asked us to wake him if someone were to arrive,” the man explained, trying to not allow his voice to quiver, “We weren’t trying to stop you from seeing him…”
This rather irritated the man. Drawing his sword, he stepped to the table before Skaol and chopped it cleanly in two. This managed to rouse Skaol from his slumber. Cracking his eyes to their familiar half opened position, Skaol quickly stood up and wiped the small vestiges of drool with his tunic. Then, seeing the fuming man with his sword drawn, he smiled warmly as one would a friend one had the unexpected pleasure to bump into.
“Ah, Captain Gregory!” he said, his eyes exuding nothing but warmth, “I apologize for the lack of an earlier greeting, but, as I’m sure you noticed,” he continued, his eyes following the leaves of paper, that had been on the table a few moments ago, through the air, “I was sleeping.” Skaol had prior experience with Captain Gregory, and knew that protesting his blatant destruction of his furniture would accomplish nothing.
“I could care less what you were doing a few moments ago,” the man snorted, sheathing his sword, “What concerns me is your recent trip to Benefield to gather rations and supplies!”
“Oh,” Skaol replied, a confused look on his face, “did your army not get the rations I sent? The transport returned claiming that you had gotten them.”
“We got them just fine. I’m here because of how you got them! I have it on excellent authority that you actually used war funds to purchase them, rather than raiding their warehouses as any sensible captain would have done!”
“Why would I raid a village of such poverty?” Skaol answered, his smile remaining unchanged, but his gaze losing some of its warmth, “If I were to simply take their food without compensation, the villagers would starve…”
“It’s a village of Seseu, for God’s sake!” Gregory interrupted, “Who cares if they die? What’s one village when compared to the future worldwide Empire of Aldabra?!”
Skaol was no longer able to maintain his smile. “Leave. I will not have you trivialize the value of human life in front of my men. I have secured rations for our soldiers, just as I was directed. If you feel what I have done was an act of treason, take it up with His Excellency Maximillian.” Skaol returned to his seat and watched Gregory storm from the room. Passing Gregory in the opposite direction was a messenger bearing the insignia of the Aldabran Empire. The messenger strode quickly to Skaol, handed him a sealed roll of parchment, bowed, and exited just as quickly.
Stigma stifled a yawn. After slitting the seal, he unfurled it, scanning the message’s contents. He then rolled it up and sighed.
“Well guys,” he said, lifting himself reluctantly from his chair, “I’ve been given a new mission, and I’m afraid it’s a solo job. James, you’re in command while I’m away. Remember our order’s motto, ‘God protect the King, We’ll protect the People.’ Our district has a reputation as having the most naïve Order of Swordsmen. Let’s not give them any reason to refute that.” With that, Skaol strode from the room and headed toward the stables, subconsciously gripping the cloth that hung from the hilt of his rapier.

OOC: Long posts are never frowned upon. I for one, love to read them. ^^
-------------------------
Jonad had been sitting there for a few minutes now. And a bar maid came along with a tray. She was rather good looking too. On her tray, she had a plate that had some pieces of meat and potatoes with gravy on, and the mug of ale. As he came over, she asked for the pay for the food, and ale. Jonad happily payed.
The maid placed the plate of food, as well as the ale, on the table. And walked back to the barkeep.
Jonad placed the fork in the meat, and cut of a part. He rolled it in the gravy, and was just about to eat it.
When a large man slammed in the door. and shouted after Sir Cairn, which he seemed to have some issues with.
The middle aged man in the corner got up, and replied. He indirectly introduced himself as Sir Cairn, and the axe wielder was apparently named Gade.
Jonad tried to ignore them, eating his food was his primary thing right now.
He tried to ignore the men, since he didn't really have much to do in it anyway.
Gade sent his axe towards Cairn, but he was too agile on his feet, he jumped away, and the axe met the floor.
Jonad still tried to ignore them, but he hardly could. He feared that he would have to heal one of them, and the other turn on him, since he would be healing his enemy.
He sighed, this had happened all to often in the past. The code of the doctor, to heal anyone that is in the need of it. Had given him trouble more then once in the past.
"Well, I guess Ill have to paralyze them both, if it comes to that" Jonad thought to himself. "At least long enough for me to get away"
He took another bite from the food, and a good sip of the ale.
If nothing else, he now had a rather crude form of entertainment for his dinner.

"Well, here we are," Jake said. He looked to his left, to see his grandfather crouching in the stones on the ground. They'd landed in some sort of town.
The Allsie stood up. Hera stood higher than six-and-a-half feet, covered in blue fur from head to toe. His long black hair spiked upwards, his tail blade looming to the left of his head. Hera wrapped his brown, Dragon-like wings around his body as he addressed Jake.
"We'd better be careful, Jake. We don't know this world, and it seems we've entered into a struggle. Look around." The Allsie's voice cut through the air like quicksilver, but was elegantly soft. "The people here are...depressed and on the wane."
"Yeah," Jake agreed. "It's like this world is a ghost of what it could be." He lowered his young voice. "What do you think's going on?"
"War," Hera said simply. "The people here are divided, but seem to be extremely loyal to their sides, look."
Hera pointed to a man walking past with an unfamiliar insignia on his cape. It was a good thing that Hera and Jake were in a small alleyway.
"Well, are you sure we should - " Jake began, but Hera hushed him with a hand. They both heard it.
In a tavern across the street, it seemed a fight was breaking out. With a nod, Jake jumped up onto the high roof of the building to his left. Hera did likewise with the building on the right. They both had an excellent vantage point, and could see clearly through the windows.
A man had thrown an axe at another man, who was out of sight. Though they couldn't quite make out what was being said, they both knew enough to tell that this could get fatal. With a careful aim of his finger, Hera blasted a small burst of energy at the door in the front. As planned, the door itself was blasted off it's hinges. They would wait to see how it worked out before they made any more moves...

"Holy Crap!" Wylliam yelled as he watched the door fly from its hinges. It wasn't everyday you walk to the tavern for a drink only to have the door blasted open for you. It took a few moments for Wylliam's brain to jumpstart itself after the shock, after which he scanned the roofs behind him. The beam had definitely come from that angle, unfortunately whatever it was was hidden by the roof's edge. Wylliam may not have had his armor or his spear, but he did have an overpowering curiosity that overrode any sense of self preservation. Running to the building opposite the bar, he crouched, building up as much strength in his legs as possible, and leapt to the ledge. What he saw nearly caused him to fall back down. There, hidden from the sight of the townsfolk below, was a creature of which he had never even heard mention. Glancing to his right, what he saw actually did cause him to lose his equilibrium, though he was able to grab the ledge and pull himself up quickly. Another creature, similar to the first, was perched on the building to the right. "Please tell me that beam wasn't aimed at me." Wylliam said in a weak voice, eyeing the blade at the end of the creatures tail. Wylliam was no coward, but he would have felt a whole lot braver with his armor and spear.
