Would you mind it if some one randomly drew you at college.

I need life drawing exp I can not take a drawing class this sem, and I already took drawing classes all around. The class I am currently in , and my near future needs for me to be a better drawer.

To the point, I want to randomly draw people in the halls before class, guys, girls, things, etc etc.

I am wondering if at random without asking if someone was drawing you on campus, standing in a hall , or eating at the cafe, reading at the library if you would be creeped out or upset.

I would start with quick drawings, gesture drawings, simply from life drawings.

I assume that most people would just think that it was an assignment, I want to do this for drawing and for me.

From driving the high way down to a city university and taking classes there to drawing with confidence , and being socially fitted comfortably in crowds as my goal I am aiming to improve my character.

I hope for some serious responses but the bullies here will come out of the wood work once again .

It shouldn't matter. People do it all the time. If you're really unsecure still though, I would suggest asking them first.

Personally, I don't think I would be creeped out or become upset if a stranger draws me, just as long as the drawing suggests that the artist was actually drawing what I was doing and me wearing the same clothes, etc. (I wouldn't want him drawing my face, then put a naked body to go along with it.) It has to be exactly down to detail and no manipulation, whatsoever. (Although it depends on what type of manipulation...but yeah, no sexual-themed or anything).

I've seen people draw random people's faces just by looking at them at a distant and although some can view that as freaky, if the artist is seriously geniune about his work, then it's really just a form of art and shouldn't be treated as anything but that. You're simply taking a life and putting it on a canvas or drawing paper, all created by your hand, skills, and talent.

They don't at my college...in class rooms yah but not life drawing of people in the halls. It may happen on occasion, maybe more than I know about but all the time....not really. Thanks for the response .

in all honesty i would have no problem with it, of course as long as the drawing had some minor changes, maybe change my nose a bit as i don't like it and also if i had a spot or something that was visable maybe just neglect to draw it in. But all in all i wouldn't mind if someone was randomly drawing me while i went around doing my normal everyday pre-class ritual (which does normally consist of complaining about the tutors who teach me)

Someone else I asked said she would feel like I was sort of trying to pick her up though. That is one reason I thought people might not be cool with the idea.

Wouldn't it be easier just to take classes outside of uni?
You must have some spare time and if you really want to learn/improve your drawing, then that would seem to be the best way.

I can understand why people would be a little upset or annotyed if you just started to draw them, so it would be better if you asked them first. If they said no, then you can just ask someone else. That way you won't feel as if you are a voyeur.

Don't worry about it, I used to do it all the time and still do now and again when I get the urge to do abit of life drawing. If your after random drawings, don't ask them first. This may sound a tad weird to some people, but nothing is more worse than a nervous model who is trying to get on whilst in the knowledge that someone else is paying alot of attention to them even if they were consent. Not that anyone should mind you drawing them if they found out but even if they do and take offense then fuck 'em, your an artist!
However nothings better than full-blown nakkid life drawing. Its a basterd to get into for some people because its alot different than drawing someone with clothes on but once you get the nack of it it's much rewarding. Just make sure you get permittion before you do that, or hire a model, things definitly get wierd otherwise

Your last bit was funny. Drawing the neighbors in the shower if I did not get permission as an imagine . LOL .
