I was taking an entrance exam while I was still in high school, and a guy in his 50's was taking it too. When it comes to post-secondary schooling, you can pretty much go when you want.

I'm a single mum too^^
I've got my Uni interview on Monday, and the nerves have really started to hit me now. I'm scared to death! Last time I applied for a degree I was so confident (I was 18) and I had six choices, there was little chance I could lose. But this time I only have one shot, and I've heard that the Uni I'm applying for is making the entrance harder because of funding cuts. It's a big deal for me, and I'm gonna do my best at all costs.

You are too old, when you are near death because it is at that time when you can't do anything more.

There's an old lady in my Latin class, who took the first half on prose, and continued taking the second half on poetry with us.
Another guy who's married and seems to be heading towards middle age is also in my Latin classes.
I've heard of a 95 year old guy doing university as well.
There was another lady in my summer math classes in her thirties.
I've seen, on several occasions, people with graying hair in my classes, most likely students.

Perhaps, the purpose of life is to gather as much knowledge as we can and develop our society as much as possible and pass on that knowledge before dying. It could be the meaning we seek so much, but the bitter truth that we can escape death. While learning how to live, we learn how to die.

Ironically, death makes it all the more worthwhile. It makes you appreciate what life you have, and if life existed forever, you could throw it away easily. But people reflect on death in the strangest ways possible, and fear it. I use what life I have in seeing the possibilities of things that can be done with mathematics. I know I won't get to see everything because of death, but I'd consider my life well lived if my life was filled with math as much as possible anyways.
Everyone has their own definition of what makes their life well lived.
