While that may be true, that's no reason to oppose the new law. It's not true for every venue and so such problems are specific to the places you choose to go - it's not really an argument against the ban in public places.

Or just wait altogether.

I absolutely despise smoking and hate it even more when you've got an inconsiderate cunt puffing away. While I can't comment on pubs and clubs (much ) I can say that everywhere else, such as restaurants and whatnot, was made so much worse by the smoking. It's true that there were smoking and non-smoking areas but you can't deny how blatantly obvious it was when someone lit up. They're not split up into separate rooms and so it's clear that the smoke is going to diffuse throughout the room. If I've taken a decision against smoking then I feel as though the blatant ignorance of a nearby smoker really shouldn't be tolerated. The new law has reflected this sentiment.

As for going outside to smoke, I really have no sympathy tbh. Surely you have enough of a grip on yourself that you can say "Oh, I'll wait five minutes until I'm finished eating, then I'll light up in the car." What compulsion is so strong that you can't hold off until you're away from the public?

Of course, smoking when you're driving is an entirely different matter.

I meant forced as opposed to choosing to smoke. No, I don't choose to breathe in other people's smoke but if I'm around people who are smoking then I have no choice. I try to avoid it as much as possible ofcourse but sometimes you can't. 'Leave or deal with it' can apply to smokers too, as in, go outside or don't smoke at all.

Boy you ever heard of what nicotine does?

It's called addiction I'm not so bad, but others are unfortunatley.

Go on, say it "it's your own fault for starting"

Some people smoke to ease stress, I don't give a fuck about the little shitbags who do it cause it's cool, they can go get pneumonia for all I care. Some people smoke to just relax, it's like breathing in and out deeply, but with the burning sensation you get to calm your nerves and release endorphines. Also some smoke so they don't eat so much as it's known to reduce appetite so I'm told. I smoke because of the shit I put up with at college, the shit I did put up with at work(no longer due to broken arm), and the shit I have to put up with in this house. It's a nice release, so don't start on that "why start" bullshit.

Anyway, no smoking areas indoors could be made more efficient buy fitting, y'know, doors between the two, or two doors like they do in recording studios and a vent in between, and several vents in the no smoking area, as heat rises an' all.

As I say, there could have been more of a compromise.

But what about the people who are with smokers in a restaurant? Whenever I used to go with my family we always had to go to the smoking bit, which was fucking torture for somebody who loathes smoke like I do. Not to mention, being in a smoking section means that you are surrounded by people who (almost) all smoke, and more often than not will be smoking, hence why they chose to sit there. It's hard enough to breathe let alone eat.

So to sum up, smoking areas are awful.

Ask your family not to smoke then, and to sit in the non-smoking area for this family occasion perhaps. I actually think smoking restaurants is pretty unpleasant as you're eating, but if you're in a pub, it's a different atmosphere altogether.

Like I said, if you loathe smoking that much from your family get them to stop it yourself, instead of relying on a government ban that ruins it for the rest of us,

It's the equivalent of one kid not doing his work, so the entire class gets kept behind at breaktime.

I don't know about anyone else. but I like the smell of a smoky pub. Each and every smoker has left a little bit of themselves in the pub which gives it a homely feel. Now pubs are turning into hospitals. So clinical.

Smoking is the most natural thing in the world. (slight exaggeration.) It is the burning of a herb and inhaling of the gas that comes off of it. Now don't tell me that we will no longer be able to burn oregano in a pub.

I leave you with one statement.

"Don't judge a book by it's cover"

Try smoking in a pub. with a guinness. And tell me it don't feel good.

Why do the government even care so much about smoking anyway? I bet lots of them all smoke.. It's not like it has any effect on them if people smoke, except the millions of pounds that they make each year from it. And it's not like they REALLY care about our health anyway otherwise they would have banned smoking altogether.

I can honestly say that I have no idea what a clinical addiction might be like and so, to be fair, that's a decent point. However, I'm a bit sceptical as to how strong the addiction is; that you can't just wait.

Although, in this case, none of the children in the classroom are working.
