It's addiction, Shen, or a mental disorder... Can't be helped. It becomes habit and your body depends upon it, or your mind does. Plus, you can't define obesity for everyone with 100% accuracy, which would make the law stupid/useless/highly challenged.

No.

I've known a few obese people who were that way due to medication or medical problems. They'd diet, exercise, starve themselves, and it wouldn't make a different. Sometimes people can only help themselves with surgery.

I am vehemently against making that a law, because you're just one step away from enforcing laws that ban people of certain religions or races from eating at restaurants, and I'd think after the Civil Rights Movements, that we won't be venturing back into any of that.

So, yeah. Let the people eat wherever they want.

Apologies for coming off so harsh.

Attempting to control the population's habits by placing such laws is pretty stupid, though. Why deny someone access to a restaurant just because they are obese? Hell, if they feel like eating there, then let them spend their cash on a meal that someone else prepares. (Hell, everyone wants a break from the kitchen every now and then.) If the law was put into action all over the states, you can imagine how much of an uproar that'll create.

And that is exactly the type of mentality that makes obesity so prevalent. All of a sudden it's not a problem with self-control (or lack thereof, rather). Noooo, it's a disease! It's genetics! Bullshit. That's like saying alcoholism is a disease. It's complete crap spewed out by crackpot psychologists like Dr. Phil to make people feel better about themselves so they don't have to take responsibility. People don't like to place the blame on themselves, they'll put it on anything else they can, be it the restaurants, the genes they got from their great aunt Edna, or because God made them that way.

Yes, some people ARE overweight due to genetics. Some people really can't help it. But they are few in number. The rest are slobs who have no self-control and eat from boredom, stress, depression, and anything else because they don't know wtf else to do with their time so they shove the blame off on something else so they don't feel like killing themselves when they look in the mirror.

You've never been there, so kindly shut the fuck up. 60% of people who actually TRY to lose weight that are overweight have genetics that make it nigh impossible to lose fat or weight in a healthy manner, or their attempts simply fail.

If I saw you speaking of shit like that in real life about stuff you don't know about, I would personally knock you the fuck out and leave you in the dumpster. I may be fat too, but i've had enough of your bullshit and making up of lies.

Learn your facts before you open your mouth about such matters. There is real shit out there that can't be helped, and not everyone is apathetic like those 700 lb people on tv. TV is full of lies like the lies you spout.

Right, so um...tell me...how come 2/3 of America is overweight today and 20 or 30 years ago it wasn't? Why the sudden spike in being fat? It's not exactly something we've gained through evolution.
