It's not creative. It's bass beats and other crap thrown together. Something of Queen's, or The Beatles, or Pavarotti's or any of the great composers' is creative. Rap is a cashcow. It's a quick, easy way for people to make money and do no hard work.

LYRICS DO NOT DESCRIBE A MUSICAL STYLE

The way it is said and how it is said and the pacing and timing is talented . Of course there is distasteful artists to everything.

I will put my opinion out there again because all of you are making arrogant and very very very broad generalizations and now we have 30 year old figures here in the convseration reflecting on music from today....right...

I am on topic, you are the one trying to get off topic. Someone agreed with me on page 2 , not directly but truthfully .

Early rap had talent and the original , real idea of what rap was meant to be influenced good music.

As for my ideas I can point out 2 large threads here with more good posts in them than bad.

You obviously have not give rap music much of chance . Martin Luther King would be 30 sherlock find your eye glasses and see page 2.

I believe you're talking about me? Well I do believe that rap before the year 2000 was pretty good, because back then it had some meaning to it, or had a story beyond "I FUCK THAT HO!" (i.e Left my wallet in El Segundo by tribe called quest. He left his wallet in el segundo, hence the name

Also, one of my favorite songs. )

Most modern popular artists are the same, or express the same ideas over and over, so they really have no meaning. Thats what makes the older artist's songs so good; the concepts and ideas hadn't been expressed before.

Rap music has pervaded our culture (American, anyway, I dunno how long it's been around in Placebo's country) for the last 20-something years. Americans have had continuous exposure to it. I think it's safe to say that there have been PLENTY of chances rap has had with me. They all failed because oldschool rap was just corny and slightly less smutty than current rap, which should be outlawed IMO.
