I don't know exactly what happened to him, but in the movie, he believed he was seeing other people that didn't actually exist, unless DID means specifically that you believe you're someone else that you're not really, rather than seeing people that don't exist.

DID is specifically becomeing an entire personality. It is not thinking you are someone you are not, because they are not imitating anyone. And when you see things that aren't really there, that is the visual hallucination cause by schizophrenia. DID is not related to Schizophrenia in any way besides them both being diseases of the brain.

Schizophrenia, Angelus, is a disorder of the brain in which often causes hallucinations and delusions. People with schizophrenia are also viable to have catatonic rigidity (there's an entire classification of schizophrenics like this), being able to contort their bodies in ways you wouldn't think possible, or to hold the bodies in awkward positions for extended periods of time without fatigue or pain sinking in. Schizophrenics with hallucinations are those like John Nash.

He would have hallucinations regarding other people, not people within his own consciousness. DID is very different; it is actually the manifestation of numerous personalities within a single mind.

Whereas hallucinogenic schizophrenia causes visual manifestations of other people, DID personalities within a mind actually banish each other for periods of time. In schizophrenia, the person can see the hallucinations as other people; in DID, they are pushed back into the anals of their own mind while another personality takes over. That is the major difference here; a person with schizophrenia knows when it's happening, a person with DID really doesn't.

Stay tuned for excerpts from Psychology: Frontiers and Applications regarding ADHD (attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder), ADD (attention-deficit disorder), and APD (anti-social personality disorder).

The MRI's of Schizophrenics show a distinct loss of the area of the brain that controls memory. The main problem that a person, suffering from this condition shows, is that they cannot distinquish between the dream state and the real state. Medication can help the problem. But many have a very difficult time functioning normally. It usually hits a person in the later stage of teens or the early 20s. The time when a person is supposed to begin to start life on their own. By the way, US Social Security recognizes this as a permanent disability. So if the person has put in enough years in the work world, they can obtain Social Security Disability with no problems.

Are there really any split personaliities?

When people claim to have multiple personalities do you think that statement is a cop out ? Do you believe that they only have one very complicated personality , or do you severely believe that a certain number of characteristics must be significant enough to be viewed as characteristics held by multiple personalities?

Personality psychology studies personality based on theories of individual differences. One emphasis in this area is to construct a coherent picture of a person and his or her major psychological processes (Bradberry, 2007). Another emphasis views personality as the study of individual differences, in other words, how people differ from each other. A third area of emphasis examines human nature and how all people are similar to one other. These three viewpoints merge together in the study of personality.
Personality can be defined as a dynamic and organized set of characteristics possessed by a person that uniquely influences his or her cognitions, motivations, and behaviors in various situations (Ryckman, 2004). The word "personality" originates from the Latin persona, which means mask. Significantly, in the theatre of the ancient Latin-speaking world, the mask was not used as a plot device to disguise the identity of a character, but rather was a convention employed to represent or typify that character.

Wikipedia lol ^^^

Based on this mind set choosing in between favorites, being uncertain and going back to 2 different life styles, experimenting with my self and identity could arrogantly be viewed as multiple personalities.

Or being lazy , on some days as opposed to being energetic on others, have little confidence on some days and resorting back to any easier mind set as opposed to being an over achiever could also be seen as multiple personalities.

People play different parts every day , is multiple personalities really a real thing ? Or is it just words to describe someone who is very creative and spontaneous in the art of expression ?

Korytco - Your thread has been merged with: Are Psychological Diseases (e.g. ADD, DID, ADHD, APD) Real? Your subject was too similar to this thread. DID has been brought up quite a few times.

Had any problems about it then PM a moderator.
