It'd be hard to not notice how dead the forums are lately. So little posts, so little users. Tis fairly mind-numbing. However, I know that it isn't just limited to this forum alone, however. All 3 forums I'm subscribed to are also experiencing a similar death. And not all of them are Final Fantasy forums, either. Just about every forum out there is going through a time of decreased activity. Forums of all kinds; you name it, it's dying.

Now the real question is Why is this happening? What can be done?

The answer is, the weather. Yes, the weather. It's been a known fact for quite a while now that when winter is coming, it depresses a lot of people. Many people don't even bother coming to the forums for a while, squestered in their emo ways. Only the die-hard posters, like me and some others, actually stay online and post. And it's not just the cold weather; Christmas is coming up, and that affects a lot of people. With the economy the way it is, many will be hard pressed to get enough money to pay for gifts. Also, there's always that disheartning feeling when you realize you've utterly failed to achieve your New Year's goals.

School also has a part to play. Right about now is when many big tests are coming up, when the cirriculum is really getting tough. That's ALWAYS a problem.

In short, there's nothing you can really do. It isn't the staff or members faults that this widespread death is coming around. This happens yearly. Once Christmas is past, things will start to pick up once more.

You'll see.

Anyone else can post what you think is also contributing the the forum deaths here, and what to do about it.

Maybe the fact that we have lazy ass admins who won't fix problems with the forum...

That's not a necessary comment Millencolin. That's not true. Our admins are doing what they can. A forum this size takes time to adjust. Have some patience...they're all scrambling to fix the RPG, and that takes A LOT! So just wait it out and let them do what they can. The forums will be back up in top condition soon enough....

If you think you can do a better job scripting a site, which needs special classes in collage usually, step on up and do it yourself. Untill then, shut up and let them work.

I thought the forums were dead because most of the people posting are idiot n00bs and the intelligent members get tired of dealing with it and the mods won't ban the n00bs for spamming excessively *coughcecilthepaladincough*

Another reason for this paticular site would be the server. Not to mention the hoards of repetative topics that have been done over and over and over, about things overly talked about in many other topics (Remakes being the biggest culprits). Plus alot of the forums members are teenage kids, and we all know what happens around that time. They'll be back, along with another fresh wave of liddlelins.

The server is getting REALLY annoying. It'd be awesome if someone would invest in a better quality server or whatever the hell the problem is.

I'm sure AG or someone made it known that it's around winter time that activity went up, activity is down more because lack of interest in posting here rather than the time of the year. Other things of course can be taken into account like the server and the forum dramas but peope generally leave because their bored.

Why don't you and everyone else who bitch about the server make a contribution towards it? It's always easy expecting someone else to make an effort.

And to throw that argument about the time of year into even poorer light, another forum I visit is just as active as ever right now, regardless of tests and the weather.
