Don't worry, I've been in a state of paralysis before right after sleeping, as well. Those are usually called 'waking dreams.'
I had a dream where I was being strangled, and woke up, paralyzed, to find my blanket was wrapped too tight around my neck, but I was frightened and couldn't move a muscle. After about 8 seconds or so, I was able to move, and was fine after that.
It's just a bit of a delay in nerve response. Your brain still thinks you're sleeping, and with suddenly waking like that, it might take a few seconds to switch gears.

Oh so this explains why you are awake at this hour. I do not think I have ever experienced anything like sleep paralysis. But I have had some weird dreams. Yes some upsetting enough to keep me awake for the rest of the night. I may of experienced and just forgot.
As for why I am awake now. I usually wake up around this time every night. But some of the times I just go back to sleep. Some I go on the net for an hour or so.
Yes, dreams are just that dreams. Dreams can be a recollection of your past as well.

Ok, I was obnoxious when I was a little kid. I was arrogant, I had the ability to make a person think he/she is wrong and that I was always right with clever talk.
I was rock hearted kid, didn't get along with most of my age and always had my head stuck in studies.
I changed though, I treat others fairly and have a good reputation of helping others out with advice and solutions to their problems. Also these sleep paralysis episodes occurred once when I was 13, when I swore I had seen something watching me. Then when I was 16 I had another episode and I remember having a lot of stress and lack of sleep during that week, and I dreamed I was trying to escape from a huge labyrinth and that I couldn't get any help.
The third one was described above...
Anyhow, I am going to school at 7:00AM so I might as well stay awake.

It's not the paralysis that scares me...is the feeling of believing that there might be something else with you. I remember not wanting to go back to my room after that.
I've read somewhere around here that Mitsuki had that same experience as well.
