hey you got your name changed back. oh and any chance i could get unbanned from the shout box, lol?

anyway i found the samurai pretty useless, i pretty much used all characters in the game except one ninja. all the samurai had to offer was the two-hands ability, which wasn't that impressive anyway.

I remember Samurai's being strong and having good defense and hp but being really really slow.

Ugh. Samurai. I have one right now and he sucks. And by 'he sucks' I mean his job sucks. And by 'his job sucks' I mean it sucks how I have to buy multiple katanas just to ensure I don't run out when I use the draw ability.
I have Two Hands Equipped as an ability, and what does it do? It adds 20 damage to the overall attack. Thanks a lot samurai.

Once again, it all depends on how you build it, any class can be very useful in certain times and spots depending on the build, and skills are the centerpiece for those builds, some skills are more useful in some classes and with different equips than with others.

I've only used the Samurai's support abilities, not his Draw ability... And his double-hand, not forgetting that.

Other than that i don't exactly see his usefulness, probably sometimes it could be useful to cast positive status, i guess.

Masamune with Regen and Haste on a group of allies in one area.

Most people overlook this great class because of it's main job command "Draw Out" and it's low HP growth.

People who overlook the great class only want the reaction and support abilities. Draw Out uses Katana's that are in your current available stock, Draw Out can :

1. Damage opponents (Offense)
2. Cause abnormal status (Stalling)
3. Support your troops with positive status affects (Support)
4. Offensive over-all reach with the ability of not targeting your own troops (unless charmed, allured, invite)

The samurai class is able to equip robes and armors, which allows you to mix bonuses w/ the power of a good helmet. Growth of attack is around 140%, which is high (I might be wrong).

Lucky for gameshark users, they can use Elmdor's "Arc Knight" class to show the full extent of a special class Samurai (although sword spirit only works when Elmdor is on auto-fight, try giving him Draw Out and see what devastation he can cause).

All classes are useful in their own way.

*well said meeee friend, i agree the samurai can be very strong in the right situations and if used well

but sad to say he has a downside too

*because he use swords he has to get close to opponents thus getting countered. and if he uses his draw out skill its still the same he has to get within range to be effective right!? so he can be ganged ad beat into a pulp by monsters

Samarais are pretty useless! but beating the game without mages doesn't sound right! I never knew that you could use a blackmage with draw I usually give him white or summon magic

! on a scale from 1-10 ld rate samarai 5 because they reley on magic(like a magic user)instead of strength! +they equip swords

I prefer to give Samurais 2-Swords instead of 2-Hands...It's a good class with a good selection of abilities, like Troy pointed out...I mostly just use the buffers & then go in w/swords a blazin...! Only when a Samurai is surrounded do I really use the attacking Draw Outs...and if you do, it might be good to buff it's Faith first (or, it might be good to permanently raise a Samurai's Faith, really).

But, yeah, no Magic users? Calculators make for the quickest battles, I've found...more so even than Dragoons (which are basically like the mage-equivalent of the physical side since you have to wait turns for their Jump to come down...but that depends I guess) and Ninjas (Ninjas are one of the best Jobs to combine your other Classes with though w/their high speed stat).

Are you kidding? Samurais are great.....if you know how to use them that is

Just make sure you have spares of each type of Katana, a couple for drawouts in case they break, and a few for equiping. It's really easy to use them, because most of them effect a pretty good area around the caster and can be helpful to your units or damaging to enemies. One instance is the Kyomori which, I think, puts shell and protect on you and your surrounding party members. And then there's the Asura which deals damage to surrounding enemies.

So you see, it just takes a little know-how and some strategy to be able to effectively use use a Samurai
