Thunder God Cid, other than Ramza, was like one of the only non-custom characters I had. Everyone else was pretty much someone I created.

dunno, I just hate those zone skills like the ones from TG. Cid or Gafgarion. I use normal characters with two sword skill and the most powerful one, the one that you get in the dungeon
I'll get again this game to play it in my ps2 so this time I'll try with new combinations of jobs.

Orlandu definitely is overpowered for one character...(I never used calculators though....so)...so pretty much I used him and him alone to defeat the boss battles, it got kinda boring, but at the same time, I didn't want to leave him out of the game, so I just stuck with him 'til the end.

yea Cid could make the game easier but put him in with the other NPC'S and have no real healer and your relying on damage, then thats something else. Thats what i do so it forces me to group the enemies together and possibly lose like everyone. Team for Final boss Razma,Cid,Mustido,Bewulf and Argais.

i agree with the fact that when you first get him he pretty much owns anyone, but as everyone else said as the enemies get stronger he's not quite as effective and as your characters catch up to him (which mine did), you find that hes not as dominant towards the end of the game.

I actually got my other characters to catch up to the level that Orlandu was at but I still observed that he owned every boss and every monster along the way to the end, so that can and can't be plausible.
Maybe it's because all your other characters could attack with as much force as Orlandu could?
If that's the case, then I see where you're coming from.

He's just annoying because hes too strong at the beginning but i just never use him until my other characters are stronger, now i have all 99 characters. No Bragging Intended...

But of course... That's not bragging... I have 16 units that are all level 100!
Hahahahahahahahahahaha.... Me> you. XD
Yeah, I really hated this. Especially the fact that Ramza never obtains such a great amount of power, which is uber annoying. Not that I don't like him being powerful and all, but it just sheds some light on how much the main character's abilities suck unless you have a gameshark. Which I do have. XD
I hated the unbalance he created being in my party, so I took his Excalibur and equipped it to other characters quite often. Namely my knight.

My first time through this game, I was so bad at it that I did rely on Orlandu toward the end. But the next time through I wanted to give my other characters a chance, so I just didn't use him in plot-related battles. It was a lot harder, but it was also fun.

My younger brother tried to fix this by making his Ramza a level 99 Monk.

I use him one of two ways 1. as holy swordsmen with black magic, counter, magic attack up, move mp up, or 2. as wizard with all swordskill, counter, equip sword, move mp up. both have a rune blade, crystal sheild(only if holy swordsmen), flash hat, magic robe, and a magic glove
this keeps him just strong enough to be usefull
