well i tend to prefer if anything with a monk it is 2 swords with the monk (2X damage) kicks the crap out of most everyone

IMO the ability that allowed all physical attacks to have 100% hit rate was the best ability the game had. it guaranteed a hit everytime and was probably the main reason i won many of the battles i was in.

I never really used that ability. By the time I even thought about getting it I was always done with the game lol. I still recommend at least trying a party of Geomancers with monk abilities as its secondary ability. Doom Fist on an opponent who is sleeping, cant move, and cant act is quite funny lol.

i used blade grasp it adds a 99% stop rate so basically my men were unhitable

That's because the monk class is actually good in Tactics xD
Anyway, I never actually used monks very much in my first playthrough...nor did I use any type of mages...or chemists...I don't know how I beat the game x__x
This time around, well, I still don't use mages or chemists, but I figured out that monks are actually pretty useful with Wave Slash, Revive and Chakra. Their HP is crap but that can be fixed if you use the support ability Equip Armor. Right now I'm using a monk and she has nearly as much HP as my lancer (my favorite class, along with the ninja) thanks to that ability.

lucky bum i used basically ninja knights to beat the game they just annilated the final boss and i tripped on the weapon duplacation cheat.
but i didn't like the fact that monks were unbeatable if you made them right

I always ahd a monk runnning around. I found them to be one of the better classes, in my opinion. They had powerful moves, but the lack of HP made it slightly annoying. I always made sure to have a monk or Punch Art on the field.

yea they did have low hp but if you build them right they are unbeatable.
