Final Fantasy Tactics Series
Welcome to the Final Fantasy Tactics Series thread! This thread is based on Final Fantasy Tactics, Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced, Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced 2 and Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions. We can discuss anything about the Job Classes, Abilities, Espers, Weapons, Armors, Accessories, Bosses, etc.
I personally like Final Fantasy Tactics The War of the Lions the most because of the two new jobs, the Onion Knight and the Dark Knight. I personaly think that the Dark Knight is one of the best Job class because it contains powerful abilities such as Infernal Strike, Sanguine Sword, Crushing Sword, Abyssal Blade and Unholy Sacrifice. Also it has great support abilities which are HP Boost which raises max HP by 20%, and Vehemence which lower defense and raises attack. If you equip the right equipments to a Dark Knight, it can be a tough fighter.

I think you are crazy... Tactics is the best one ever...
Anyways, how do you get Cloud in Tactics? I've seen him in it before, but people don't tell me HOW to get him... Anyone know?
EDIT: Hello, Toon Link. You are new, aren't you?
Anyways, Not really anything, I guess. But, It goes (In time Line) Tactics>War of the Lions>Tactics Advance>Tactics A2
In Awesomeness, it Goes Tactics>Tactics A2>Tactics Advance>WotL
Heh... Wotl...

I played TA2 and it felt OK at the start but then I reached the FLOWSAND LORD and boy, did this boss beat the crap outta me, then I quit the main story and started playing the random quests at Targ Wood, the recurring sky pirate? appears again.
URGH! That's just part of the story, I never touched that again, any advice?

To defeat Flowsand Lord first your characters need to be at a pretty good level. Once you done leveling your characters a few level then you can come up with a strategy. What I suggest you do is to put the strong characters close to Flowsand Lord and the weak ones away from him. All the physical characters should focus on Flowsand Lord while the weak ones heals the party. Also make sure you have enough potions to heal your characters. If you have lots of potions, healing magic and attack Flowsand Lord continuosly with your strongest fighter you should be able to defeat him.

I just don't get what people like so much about FFT...
Those annoying random encounters really killed the game IMO.
The only thing I enjoyed was the plot. Even the characters were average because they lost their role after joining the party. At first I liked the characters a lot (Agrias is still one of my most favorite FF characters). But once they join the party, it is like they no longer have personality. The limited number of side quests was lame as well.
Another thing I didn't like, is that you can have only human or monster chracters and there are no other races.
BTW, are there random encounters in the PSP FFT too?
FFTA on the other hand is one of my favorite FFs. I think it is my 4th favorite FF.
I liked everything about it: plot, characters, gameplay. I admit though, that I like FFT's battle system a little more.
I am currently playing FFTA2 so can't say much about it as of now (only at the beginning).

Well... to be honest one of the reasons I like FFT more is because I played it first. I had so much time to obsess about it that once FFTA came out, my expectations were unrealistically high. And of course, most of them weren't met.
But as for real reasons, you already said my main one: plot. I didn't think FFTA could really compete with the original on those terms. I thought the gameplay and battle structure of FFT were superior - laws were more of a pain than an interesting gameplay device for me (though I liked them more in FFTA2), and I thought the jobs were actually more individualized in FFT. Because of the different races, some of the jobs in FFTA/FFTA2 ended up being duplicates. The random encounters didn't bother me.
I will agree that plot characters in FFT sometimes become useless when they join. Seriously, Meliadoul? I loved her character, but once she joins there's no point, because her sword skills can't be used on monsters, which make up 95% of the random battles. I end up changing her to a generic knight or something. And then once Orlandu joins he's better than pretty much everyone.
