You have to train in the game quite often. You cant run straight through it without training. Its impossible. Be at level 5-6 with ENTIRE party or most of them before trying Dorter. You can do it at maybe smaller levels but higher the level, the better off you are. What I do is after each storyline battle, I go and achieve 1-5 levels in random battles. I do that to make sure I can deal massive damage to enemies in a short amount of time. Here is my party (sometimes) when I head to Dorter for the first time:
Ramza - Knight, Party member - Knight, Party member - Archer, Party member - Priest, Algus - Knight, Delita - Knight
I thought the game was easy and simple (when you train). I beat it at level 70s and up. The last boss....put it this way. It is..um...well...just different.
Yes there is a character you get that just makes the game so freakin easy later on. (I think either chapter 3s end or near beginning of Chapter 4. Forgot)

Depends on how you go through the game. Obviously, if you don't train much and use shit classes, you won't have an easy time with the game. I'd recommend making the ninja class available as soon as possible.
The game challenged me all the way through, personally. There were a few stretches where I coasted fairly well, but the game makes you work for it.

Yeah, Ninja helps alot in the game. If you have a Summoner or 2 in your party early in game, it pays off ALOT in the early and later parts of the game. Such as when you fight Velius (Zodiac Brave). In my opinion, thats the hardest battle in the game. He's a pain.

Yes you do, Worker 8. He's practically a god, and his attacks can cover almost the entire map with no wait time. However, he's optional and you can't get him till late in the game. Orlandu is pretty hardcore too though, and he'll be a good party member till you get Worker 8. And since you have the PSP version, you also get Balthier and Luso and special characters...but I don't know how they fare.

NINJA. CLASS. IS GOD. They can wield two weapons (including knight swords), throw anything and everything for massive damage, and they can turn invisible. The invincibility goes away once you actually have them attack someone, but being able to put them into position without being spotted can be a lifesaver. Here's a class chart in case ya need it.
As for summoners...eh...well...it all depends on your play style, really. I personally found it easier to just tank through the game because waiting for the spell/summon to happen and my victims moving out of the targeted panel before it hit was infuriating.

While Ninja IS godly, if you're willing to actually train, it's ALL about the Calculator!! All Magics (i.e. HOLY!!!), No MP Cost, Multiple-Targets (easy to get all or most of the enemies), No Target Range Restriction (except by calculation, but, like I said, easy to hit all or most of the enemies), & No Need To Even MOVE From Your Starting Position!!! Of course, the Calculator ability is much better in the hands of a Ninja for that extra SPEED boost, but how many abilities AREN'T? lol
FFT just has a slightly bigger learning curve than the other FFs because the battle & ability system is so drastically different than most of the others. Once you get a nack for it, you'll learn some awesome combos...how 'bout this rather simple easy to get one for ya? Archer w/Knight abilities? That's right! Long range armor & stat breaks! Hooray!

FF tactics was recommended to me by my friend and he claimed that the enemies in the story level up as you do... well since I am no fan of power levelling early I played trough the game w/o training hell it was hard. enemies where up 5-7 levels. Then Wiegraf... i was stuck coz i always overwrite my save files. I was like 12 levels down.. never met Velius yet.. When i replayed I made sure I was at an equal level, made things a lot easier.
