After I got used to that I prefered that. Made things riskier and harder. You couldn't send your best man on a kamikaze mission in case he/she got ko'd and you couldn't get to him in time. Instead it made you think more about your actions, and to make sure there is always back-up at least 3 turns away from any of your characters.
It really did help to make the game feel hard, and that you weren't invincible, but pushing yourself harder and harder.
It's only really annoying when you only have a character without the item command, or white magic, coz then your'e screwed...
But yeah I liked Advance too. I liked the different species, the different looks for each class ettc. I think the story of FFT was probably a lot better than that of FFTA though, and the selection of what and who you could have was probably wider in FFT; special characters, monsters ( eg, Chocobo's, Bombs and Behemoths), robots, dragons, Beowulf!
