| Tactics Advance While not directly a sequel to Tactics, the Advance version took the battle style from its parent game and brought it to the GBA. |

To tell the truth, I preferred FFTA. I know it had a lacking story and one could not play it on the 'big screen' as you call it... But, it was brighter, more whimsical, and more 'Fantasy' than Final Fantasy Tactics was for the PS.
These were also the same traits I loved in IX. And this probably illustrates the drift in FF fandom... Few prefer the whimsical fantasy worlds which were the basis of the early series, and more are prefering dark storylines and generally flat main characters.

I liked FFT better because the storyline was better and I hated the laws on FFTA. Even without the laws on that one place in FFTA, I can't bring people back to life so I prefer FFT.

Most people don't like it. However, I do. It's more whimsical than the original Tactics, and I like the characters better.

I liked them both, but I'm drawn to FFT more cause of the storyline, it was war, it's not supposed to be all bright and pretty.

I'm a super-noob to this forum, and who knows if I'll ever post here again. I moved, and don't have a tv anymore, and I haven't got a tv tuner card for my PC yet, which would make playing FFT awesome on my flat monitor. SOO, I've been going through quite a FFT withdrawl. Since then I've been casually checking out FFTA2 on youtube and such, and I was really impressed with the visuals, so I thought I'd look into some of the FAQs for FFTA. I hated FFTA myself, because I always looked at it as a childish game and I was really pissed that Square didn't just make a FFT sequel.
After going through the boards, I have to say, the race/job/abilities in FFTA simply give more variables to your party and characters, AND they sound amazing. It definitely more parallels FFXII than it does FFT as far as the character races and such, but it seems to have more enemies that are FF-centric than FFT does, and the gameplay elements seem slightly more in depth because of the countless number of abilities throughout all jobs. Not to mention there's just way more jobs, and ones that seem cooler. The Moogle jobs alone sound awesome. And Blue Mage seems like a great job. Overall, the jobs just seem to have been given more meat than those of FFT. Some jobs have a ton of Abilities to choose from. This brings tons more depth to the way battles can unfold.
I have yet to play FFTA because it's in the mail from Amazon. But I have to say I'm really excited. I'm not concerned with the story. I played FFT because I LOVED the story, and I LOVED the gameplay. So what happens if I love FFTA for the gameplay, but the story's somewhat mediocre? I'm still going to have a hell of a time with the 300 O_O missions in the game, and customizing clans to such a high degree. On paper, FFTA looks to be just way more in-depth as far as party customization goes. You can essentially have a 5 person party of 5 different races. That's already 5 times as many as FFT lol.
Anyway, I just thought I'd post because I was a FFTA-hater before I became so intrigued with the race/class/job system and some of the other elements of FFTA. Will the law system suck? Yeah maybe. But if I can enjoy an awesome hand-held FFTactics game on the go, and create a killer party, I'm all for it. And I REALLY hope S-E makes an FFT sequel (or preferably prequel). That would be the best game ever.
peace out,
-n8b

I like FFTA because, well it's the only one I've got. Besides, FFT doesn't look appealing to me. Even though you can get Cloud. Those jagoffs.

Are you kidding, man? xD
The job system SUXX0rZ. Go take five glances at the job system on the original and you tell me which job system is better.
1) The variety of jobs was SO MUCH bigger in Final Fantasy Tactics.
2) As far as I remember, humans can't equip guns in FFTA. Ridiculous.
3) In FFTA, for most jobs... There is ONE and ONLY ONE ability that is best for that race.
4) Graphics were better? Look again, Pal. I don't see an FMV sequence for FFTA. Plus, just LOOK at the detail of the sprites in FFTA and try to compare them to the Final Fantasy Tactics sprites.

YOU tell me which one you prefer, bud. ;D
