Working in Groups
I find working in groups hold me back some, though like I said in another thread, having friendly people on your side in a presentation can bolster up morale some.
It holds me back because I work more efficiently on my own.
Seriously.
Question is, do you prefer working in groups or by yourself?

That depends. Most of the time I prefer working in groups when we have the choice of teaming up with whom we like. But if the teacher picks for you, then you better hope that the others won't slack around as the grade depends on the whole team overall. But if you're with the right people, then you can get a lot of work done.
Now, I like working alone too. I feel like I don't have to bother calling any of my teams or meeting them up somewhere. I'm not much of a social person when it comes to people I don't know...and plus there's disadvantages to working in groups.
For instance, I had to be in a group for Physics class and we had to build a boat big and sturdy enough for a person to get in and ride across on our school swimming pool. Well, the whole month, I pretty much did most of the work by myself. One girl did not even show up at a meeting at all. I did the painting even. Out of annoyance, I put "Girl Power" on each side of the boat, and painted the boat pink with hearts all over the place, knowing that the guy (who didn't do a damn thing either) would be the one riding it across the pool.
When the tournament day came, boy was he embarrassed! He couldn't say anything to me though because I did all the hard work, but the prick didn't wanna ride the boat! So the big girl on our group actually carried him and put him on boat (which was already in the pool) and he got so freaked out and started squirming! Man it was a sight to see! Everyone was laughing so hard.
Well, how the story ended: the boat sank and it didn't even reach 2 feet across because he kept moving inside and was wanting to get out. I was ticked off. We got a C for that stupid project...and all because the others in my group didn't participate.

Right people equals good chemistry equals good grades.
I'm fortunate I work well with most people, though I rarely speak at all in real life.
That's the joy of AP classes, everyone is dedicated to getting a good grade, so you can never expect slackers.

Such as people not working, right.
And people just complaining about everything while doing nothing, right.
I prefer much more to work by myself, for the same reason. I'm not really all that sociable, no matter much I make myself to be otherwise. No, I'm not antisocial or anything, just plain shy. I usually do much much better working by myself. Unless of course, if it involves something with speeches and oral presentations, that I can't do as an individual.

LMAO! I can't say that he deserved it --- I don't know him.
But all the same, I suppose he did deserve it anyway.

I dislike working in groups for the most part...especially when I butt heads with the other members. Or when one of the team members just REFUSES to make any effort...
But I also lack motivation in some specific areas, so in some cases, group work is beneficial...

Solitude over groups.
Being stuck to work in a group, or even partners, bothers me. I am a follower, not a leader, and I am normally given tasks that I would normally never ever do. Such as giving speeches and other such things. I don't talk as it is; what makes you think I would make a good speech? I can take notes as long as I am the only one reading them, for I pretty much write in chicken scratch. My 'a's look like 'd's, my 'v's look like 'r's, my 'n's look like 'h's, etc.
I just prefer to be on my own when it comes to doing something. If I wanted help, I'd ask the instructor, not a random peer who is probably just as stuck as I am.

My biggest peeve is the group member who refuses to contribute...<__<
And I always get stuck with doing research for some reason...

Well alright, maybe if I hadn't put the hearts and wrote "Girl Power" on the boat, it would have been easier to coax him into the boat. But I'm not gonna blame myself now.
But yes, groups has a lot of disadvantages. Overall, I guess I prefer working alone. Less headache, and plus I don't mind doing all the intensive research anyway. As long as the study environment's right, then I'm good to go...
Hmm, a new thread idea.

LMFAO, I really wish you had a video of that.
Working in groups or by myself...
I really depends on what I'm doing as to whether or not I like being in a group or by myself. If I'm doing a large outdoor project like building a deck or patio, then obviously yes. Even a large scale computer/server change out in a business then yes again, because I'm usually the one in charge and always answering the questions.
Now if it's a small project, then No. I like to tackle them on my own, a lot less mistakes.
