What do you think of History?
Well, as the title implies, what do you think about the stereotypical boring class and subject of history?
Well, to start off, I'd like to say that I absolutely love history to the death, I think it's a necessary subject for us to learn, no matter how much my fellow peers and classmates fight against that notion.
I don't know about you guys, but all my history teachers have been quite cool ever since 8th grade onwards. I think they try to balance the subject matter with the fun things to keep everyone interested --- just in a much more effective way than others. Anyone else had that?
I never sleep in history class, in fact I'm always wide awake during those hours because that's the class that offers me the best chance of looking smart for an hour.

I adore history, after Drama its my favourite lesson. Ive always had an amazing teacher for history who makes the lesson fun to learn, and it really pays off, this year ive been getting A/A* in all my essays and projects.
History just fascinates me really, i don't know why but it does, ive always been good at it and its inspired me to actually want to be a History (/english/Drama) teacher

Nice to someone else who adores the subject.
I love the war parts especially, just take a peek at the name. lol.
Something about the history of countries and war just fascinates me....maybe it's because it has something to do with the actions of people and why they do it. *hint hint my threads *
Yeah, the great leaders just makes me aspire to be one, but sadly, I don't have the ability and insight of any of them.

what i find fascinating about History is that we get an insight into how these leaders and dictators were feeling and what they were thinking. Like Hitler, yes he WAS agreat leader for germany, but he was majorly screwed in the head as far as race went.
i like the parts of history that no-one really knows about - like the princes in the tower, and Hitlers "suicide" you can get all these theories on them and have really intellectual debates on them

History can either be the most boring shit in the world or the best form of entertainment. I always skip though the History Channel to find out which version of history is on. I was watching a show earlier about suckey presidents that came before Lincoln and you couldn't have pulled me away for sex with two Icelandic supermodels named Bunny and Foo-Foo wearing only pink thongs and carrying whipped cream and chocolate syrup... Where'd I go just now? Anyhow, other times it's absolutely boring as snot. Classes on history are especially boring. If you give it any kind of flair or edge or deep dirty secret telling it instantly becomes better. Also, fun fact: explosions do nothing to make history more exciting.

Yeah, Aztec. I don't like those programs about Modern stuff, like Modern Marvels for some reason, so I guess I have a weird taste in historical learning.
But anyhow, I lol.
Of course, if you add a bit of flair or something dark to it it makes it something worthwhile to learn, now isn't it? I think that's what makes conspiracies and mysteries so intriguing is the mystery factor. Take something like the JFK conspiracy, the Masons, The Philadelphia Experiment, among many others, people look into this stuff because it's interesting, and we all want to find out why something happened...well, maybe not all of us. >.>

History was always one of my favorite subjects in school. My favorite thing in history is the study of battle strategies. I always liked games like Risk. Strategy has always been something I am somewhat obsessed with. The History Channel had a neat show a while back on great ancient battles. Unfortunately war causes havoc and death. The more modern the weapons, the higher the number of casualties.
I also find the study of some the personalities in history interesting. One thing you learn though, that even the good guys do bad things. Also, a lot of history is written by the winners.
Maybe my obsession with strategy is why I like RPGs.

Yes! That's the way I think about strategy and RPG's too.
Although I'm into strategy gaming more than in RPG's in general, I still find the two genres connected in some way, and I'm pretty sure it's the strategy part of it.
Come to think of it, I've been poring over battle maps for over 4 years now, just because I can in the library. It's interesting to note the many different strategies that various generals and leaders used to wage war and win.
But yeah, the good can also be the bad, primary reason being Machiavelli.
The ends justify the means, and that is true the most in politics, I suppose.

I love learning about most history except for American history. Ugh, civil war....boring. I would say my favorite type of history is Ancient history, European history and art history. I love college history, especially because teachers will tell you extra information, unlike normal high school teachers, that would not tell you because of censorship.
Ahhh, I loved learning about the French revolution and how Louis XVI was killed by a guillotine. I found out through college history that Frederick II of Prussia was gay. o_o Hurray!
Oh, I also like learning about Fashion history.. Rococo
