Chronicle

ORPG

Name – Chronicle (goes by the alias Christopher Penn)

Title – The Eternal Scribe

Alignment – Good

Race – Fallen Seraphim. Those who took part in the rebellion against God, but were not cast into hell in chains. Almost all Fallen Seraphim wander the earth as spirits to thwart God's plan for humanity. A select few, however, choose to live like humans. They're appearance, for the most part, is humanoid, and they are all male. They are far 'prettier' than any human, very feminine in their physical features, but are otherwise indestinguishable. They can sprout white, feathery wings whenever they desire. The wings are not physical and are not visibly connected to the Seraphim's back, but are made of celestial energy, which enables the wings to interact with the physical world. When manifested so, they do become an extension of the Seraph's body, so one does feel pain when a wing is hurt. However, they are significantly tougher than the Seraph's main body, so can be thought of as a defense of last resort. They consist of three pairs, the top pair is significantly larger than the lower two, reaching a wingspan of ten to twelve feet. The wings serve to give flight to the Seraphim.

Seraphim are immune to poisons, disease, and aging, but are quite succeptible to violent death. When a Seraph dies, it is sent to hell in chains.

Explanation of Seraphic Energy and Spirit Extension: Humans have chi for a life force. Through its manipulatiopn, humans can attack through a release of energy, fly, or detect the chi of someone else. A Fallen Seraph, though humanoid in appearance and body structure, is still a being of divine origin. Chi links humans with the Earth (or the natural world, to be more specific. That's how alien life forms can manipulate chi). In the same way, the Seraphic Energy of angels links them with heaven (or the celestial world). However, being in the natural world, a fallen Seraph cannot sustain a stable link with Heaven indefinitely, while his own natural production of SE is not sufficient to be used by itself, and thus he cannot use energy attacks with it. However, through the manipulation of something of divine inspiration, such as music, a Fallen Seraph can gain access to abilities and attacks. Spirit Extension is the act of tranferring one's own naturally forming reserve of Seraphic Energy into an object with which one has an affinity to gain access to these abilities. However, the connection is unstable and can't be supported for over an hour.

Gender – Male

Age – Seraphim exist outside of time. Chronicle appears to be in his early twenties

Appearance – The functioning word here is pretty. He has short messy silver hair with an angelic sheen that shines no matter how much light is hitting it or how dirty it gets. His face is very effiminate and completely devoid of flaw. His eyes are crystal blue, his eyebrows are thin, and his chin comes to a feminine point. Though he is tall (6ft 2in), his build is very slight (135lbs), even girlish. He has an extremely fair complexion, no matter how long he stays in the sun. His posture can be described as fluid and relaxed. He has perfect teeth and a killer smile.

Attire – Very casual, usually a button-up, loose, short sleeve shirt, but sometimes one can catch him in the occasional t-shirt. He wears jeans all the time, usually blue but sometimes black, and always with a black belt. On his feet he wears white ankle-socks and black sneakers. His right hand has a ring on its ring finger; silver with an emerald stone. Hooked onto his belt at his right hip is a black, open-top holster that holds his journal and a pencil.

Personality – Chronicle is the absolute embodiment of brotherly love. He respects everyone's right to life and is never happier than when he is making someone else truly happy. He delights in the laughter of others and is a bleeding heart whenever someone is sad. When it comes to confrontation, Chronicle is an absolute pascifist. He will do whatever it takes to end a hostile situation without it coming down to violence. It is his desire to protect the happiness of all people in his sight. He sometimes neglects the value of his own happiness, unintentionally causing pain to those who care for him, Angela in particular.

First Impression – Most people introduce themself with a handshake or a bow. Chronicle does so with a back-breaking hug. Straight out of the gate, Chronicle leaves you with no doubt that, even if no one else does, he loves you more than most think possible. Most are left with a sense of peace and calm when associating with him, and feel as if he is one to whom you could confide your darkest secrets without fear of judgement or condemnation. However, if the topic were ever to stray onto the topic of his love, Angela, one must be prepared for one of two things: 1) one will have to sit through a long-winded, obsessive speel on how Angela is the greatest thing since written language, or 2) Angela will hear Chronicle start up his "Angela praise" and swiftly bring an end to it; usually by satisfyingly violent means.

Strength – Chronicle is lucky that his strength is enough to push a pencil across paper. The only thing strong about Chronicle is his desire for peace.

Speed – Not what one would call a speed demon. After ten seconds, he'd be lucky to be moving at nine mph.

Endurance – About ten landed heavy punches and Chronicle is out of the fight. On the rare occasion that he uses his wings to defend, they can withstand, using a well built fighter's heavy punch as the standard, thirty punches. After this, the wings dissipate and cannot be summoned for an hour.

Reflexes – Not nearly as pathetic as his other attributes. His long life has helped to develop his ability to rapidly anticipate and avoid enemy attacks. His reflexes almost give the illusion that he reads his opponent's mind.

Fighting Style – Purely defensive. Chronicle will simply read the attackers moves and do his best to avoid them, occasionally deflecting the momentum of an attack to the side. All the while he will try and calm the aggression of the assailant through appeals to the opponent's human side or by trying to understand the reason behind the violent actions. However, if there is someone else there that Chronicle is trying to protect, he will end up taking several hits trying to keep that person from being hit. When conflict is inevitable, he acts as support, using his abilities to keep his comrades healthy. He often has to rely on Angela to keep him safe from assailants.

Weapons – N/A

Armour – N/A

Abilities – Through Spirit Extension, Chronicle can infuse a writing utinsel with Seraphic Energy. The use of these abilities depletes his Seraphic Energy as described. To activate these abilities, Chronicle writes in the air in front of him the name of the ability in the language of heaven. As he writes, the writing utensil leaves behind glowing letters made of Seraphic Energy. After writing the ability, the letters vanish and the effect takes place. Chronicle can not cast these abilities on himself. SE repletes at a rate of 2% a minute. As long as his energy is extended into an writing utensil, he cannot summon his wings. If his energy is extended into an utensil for an hour, he cannot extend his energy or summon his wings for another hour.

Healing Epistle- Green words written in a heavenly script condense into a single brilliant speck that rises high into the air, before splitting into a number of specks equal to the number of targets. These specks then fly down to their respective targets, healing wounds and dulling pain. If focused on a single target, this ability revitalizes 75% of the target's energy. The amount is decreased proportionately according to the number of targets (i.e. if there are two targets they are both healed at a value of 37.5%; three targets at 25%; etc). This consumes 15% of Chronicle's Seraphic Energy.

Gospel of Love's Bonds- Red words flash brilliantly before disappearing. For the next ten minutes, half of the pain received by the target will be tranferred to Chronicle. Bodily damage, however, remains unaffected. For example, if Wylliam were to receive a five inch cut on his arm while under the effects of this ability, the damage to his body would remain the same, but the pain felt would be halved. This ability consumes 10% of Chronicle's Seraphic Energy.

Martyr's Final Testament- An ability of last resort, eximplifying the deepest of love. Blinding white words streak toward the target and spiral about him/her. Half of the target's wounds are instantly transferred to Chronicle, unless the reception of those wounds would kill him instantly. In this case the ability simply fails and has no effect. This ability costs all of Chronicle's remaining SE and forces an end to Spirit Extension, which cannot be activated again for another hour.

Magic – N/A

Other Skills
Rosetta Stone- Chronicle can understand any language he hears or reads.

Heaven's mind- Has vast knowledge of the natural world, including chemistry, zoology, physics, and human biology.

Eternal Scribe- This pertains to Chronicle's journal. Before being cast out of heaven, Chronicle...er... chronicled all of creation, starting with the creation of the angels themselves, in this Divine journal. After being thrown out, he continued to write down all the information he gathered during his travels. The Journal is unique in that it acts as a data bank that Chronicle himself constantly updates. After writing an entry, Chronicle closes the book, sealing the information within it. Upon opening the Journal, all of its one-hundred and fifty pages are blank. However, Chronicle needs only to concentrate on the heading of an entry while opening the book, and the entry in question will appear in its entirety on the pages. Each entry is limited to one-hundred and fifty pages, but Chronicle often makes continuation entries if the information is too much for just one entry. Contained within the journal are countless of Chronicle's entries, ranging from the philosophies of several nations, to the anatomical make-up of a Komodo Dragon; not to mention several diary entries since his time spent in heaven.

History – When God revealed his divine plan for the creation of humans and their favored position in His heart, Chronicle was filled with bitterness. God was giving them a gift that the angels could barely comprehend: the ability to stray from God's love only to be welcome back with open arms; in short, salvation. Upon learning of Lucifer's Coup, Chronicle, in a fit of passion, joined in the rebellion. The victor was decided before the battle even began; Lucifer, Testament, and all who rebelled were thrown from heaven. Many were cast into the lake of fire in chains. Others, such as Lucifer, fell to Earth as spirits to try and sabotage the will of God. A select few however, known as Fallen Seraphim, took on physical bodies that highly resembled the humans. Chronicle was one of these few. They dispersed and rarely saw one another again; the majority of them holding a grudge toward the humans.

Chronicle, however, was an exception. As he was being expelled from the celestial realm, he happened to catch a glimpse of God's face before the rift to heaven closed. What he saw filled him with regret and sorrow. Etched into the Holy visage of God's face was a look of hurt and sadness. Chronicle realized how much their rebellion had hurt God's heart, and was determined to do whatever it took to protect His favored creations from the forces of evil.

For several millinea, Chronicle traveled among the humans, trying to foster and nurture their best aspects, all the while keeping records of his journeys in his divine journal that he had while he was in heaven. To his dismay, however, the humans were highly susceptible to the whispers of Lucifer, and constantly turned against one-another in hate. Chronicle did not lose hope, however, and found solace in the prescious, caring souls that remained untainted by hell's filth.

Two years ago, Chronicle fell in love with a tomboy by the name of Angela who had protected him when he was being mugged. Chronicle was afraid at first of falling in love with a human, knowing that he would keep living while she aged and died, but when he confided this fear to her, she immediately instilled him with an even greater fear: the fear of what she would do to him if he "let a stupid reason like that get in the way of love." Thus, in spite of the knowledge that he would eventually be faced with the pain of her death, Chronicle decided to cherish the time he had with her and never take a moment for granted. The two now travel the world together, Chronicle documenting their travels in his journal while Angela acts as his less pascifistic body guard.

Wow, very impressive work on this bio! I've always loved the idea of Angelic characters. Chronicle looks like a really great and well thought-out character. I look forward to your future RP contributions. =)
