He looks like the younger version of Zack in the beginning of Crisis Core. Note he doesn't have the scar on his cheek or the way Zack looks now. Plus his hair is done differently and his face isn't shaped like Zack's either. From far away, sure he resembles him, but from close up, no way in hell is that Zack.

You have to admit, the resemblance is striking. The hair is exactly the same - spikey mohican along the centre with parts of the hair hanging down from each side of his head. I personally think the smiles are very similar, but it may look different because of the huge difference in graphics.

I have no problem with using old characters as inspiration for new ones ... but when the design is so similar ... it makes me loose hope in SE even more. Can't they think of original designs any more?

I don't think its that SE have lost inspiration its more or less the fact both Zack and Terra are created by Nomura. To be honest all I can think of is that because Zack is popular in VII using the same design would make Terra popular. He is logistic but unoriginal to say the least

Sorry LA, I have to go with Grand_Lethal on this one. Sure, he may not be EXACTLY like Zack, but the resemblance is so close that at first and second glance one would confuse him Zack. Moreover, there's the other kid Ven, who's a duplicate of Roxas basically, but a "different" character. Nomura fails at being original. It doesn't matter that the scar is gone, etc. The fact of the matter is he's taking his own designs and slightly altering them, instead of putting forth any sort of effort to make diverse characters. It's all the same generic anime designs that get old, boring, and obviously overused.

And that right there is an example of why he can't be considered an artist. Falling back on his old designs and making slight modifications to them to make them popular, it's completely talentless and plain lazy. For god's sake, show some originality for once.

Ugh, if you people would have read my damn post properly, you'd notice I said he looks like the younger Zack; the Zack 2 years before the Nibelheim incident. He looks nothing like Zack does now. That is all I was trying to say. Good grief

Uh...I did read it right. I don't see how it makes a difference. You just said he looks like Zack, right? It's a younger Zack, but still Zack, sooo...my point is proven. Nomura is taking old designs and modifying them.

What I'm trying to say is that it's cheap and lazy for him to make characters so similar, even the clothes/armor (of the new Zack) is similar, it's just been modified:

Notice the suspenders, shoulder pads, plate over the abs (just plain weird) and the slightly baggy pants.

Only one shoulder pad now (ala Cloud, and the random crap down his arm is reminiscent of Tidus), suspenders are in a criss-cross pattern now, plate over the abs still exists, and the baggy pants have been turned into a hakama.

*EDIT* I just noticed something else, even his shirt is a turtleneck, like Zack's:

I'm not saying it IS Zack...I'm just saying Nomura is just rehashing his designs and it's getting old. The fact that it's mistakable for Zack is evidence. Even Akira Toriyama has more variety in his characters, and that's pretty bad.

It's clearly the fusion of Xemnas and Zack. NEEDS MOAR POTARA EARING IMHO.
