There you see Square has registered the name "The Last Remnant".

So, to any hardcore Final Fantasy fan out there, it should ring a bell. The only game where the word remnant has been used is in Final Fantasy VII and Advent Children.

These were clones of Sephiroth needed for the reunion. You'll see Cloud refer to Kadaj as one, and saying how he previously was himself too.

Now obviously, if might conclude the entire FF7 saga, which Nomura have talked about how he wasnt sure of how to do before, it will all boil down to the last remnant of Sephiroth.

It is proven that Cloud still bears the jenova genes, because of his eyes becoming green like Sephiroths eyes are, when in contact with him. Its also useless to say he was cured of the Geostigma, because this doesnt matter to him. And also, you will see that his eyes becomes Jenova green after he has been cured.

Now to end this post, I might be dead wrong about this. But so far, these are all the facts we know now, this name, and that usage of that specific word.

Personally, I have always predicted Cloud somehow has to die to end the saga and rid the planet of Jenova concentrates. Because after Sephiroth, the only one with almost an equal amount of Jenova cells, is Cloud, believe it or not.

well the should be extended longer than the movie but shorter than FF7 as because it is the ending of the whole story line of FF7.

Cloud got rid of the stigma, Sephiroth is always there to stay in Cloud's dreams.

However, although "Remnant" is most likely reference to Cloud, or potentially the Advent Children themselves, note that Genesis shares a similar relation to Sephiroth. And as such, can be considered a remnant in his own right, being a construction of Shin-Ra Corp. I'd like to think this game possessed relevance to Genesis on a large scale.

But this is too vague. Speculations can't really be justified from any valid canon source right now. Nevertheless, this is most interesting.

Thats perfectly correct, Genesis could also be the last remnant. All we know is the word that they have used in the title, and they used this specifically chosen word in the movie(original english translation from japanese audio)

What I would love to see is Cloud and Sephiroth just merging together with their jenova cells and calling forth the true Jenova, which Aeris then as the complete oposite of Jenova would have to defeat. The ultimate final battle, Aeris vs Jenova, bitchfight, when our proud warriors could not make it.

And after Aeris defeats Jenova, everyone on the planet dies and goes to the promisedland, and nature comes to life again, and the time of Cloud and the gang is forgotten. Who knows, maybe 507 years after this, a new breed of man will once again rise. All we know is that Red XIII will be there to see it.

I hope to God SE doesn't re-release Final Fantasy VII. I already stated how I felt this game died...re-making it would just be overkill.
