Hajime Tabata interview with 1up

With the release of Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core coming up, the guys at 1up decided to sit down and have a chat with Hajime Tabata, the director of Crisis Core to converse about the game.

1up Staff asked Hajime how he came to be selected to direct Crisis Core and if he was intimidated to work on this Prequel to FFVII, and he answered:

"From the beginning, the plan was to create a Final Fantasy game for the PSP. When I was chosen to be director, it was my job to decide, specifically, what the title would be. After consulting with Mr. Nomura and Mr. Kitase, I decided it would be a Compilation of Final Fantasy VII title. Handling such a popular series was indeed a source of pressure, but a good kind of pressure that motivated all of us to do a good job."

It was also asked by 1up staff if Crisis Core would mark the end of the Final Fantasy VII compilation, and Hajime answered that No, it would not mark the end of the FFVII compilation and the finale would take a different form.

i cant wait for this game to come out and its not too long now, shame you can only play as zack i was looking forward to playing the old characters too. i wonder what they could mean by the finale being in a different form *thinks* im hoping maybe they will be thinking of a FFVII for PS3 or maybe releasing before crisis before. i so cant wait to see what will be next for ffvii maybe sephiorth will be back again for one final time

Notice that he uses the word "form". I don't think this is a mistake, I think his choice of words are deliberate. This leads me to speculate that the end of the compilation might not end with a game.. Thoughts??

^ Do you think he could have meant a movie? There have been rumors floating around that the staff wants to make another movie focusing on Cloud once again...Maybe that's how they are planning to end it?

If they do decide to make another movie, I wish they'd consider focusing on one or more of the other characters in the game aside from Cloud.. ;.;

As much as I like the FFVII compilation its getting beyond a joke if they decide to make MORE of the compilation, I really don't see how they can span it out further without revisiting scenes we've already seen.

I wouldn't mind another movie but I don't think they are going to make another one like AC if you know what i mean. None of the games are the same genre so maybe the movie will be different if they choose to make it. Maybe a mini series? Other than a movie or a game, what else could mark the end of the compilation?? once again, thoughts??

I would like to see more literary Pieces like what they did with on a way smile, or maybe a animation of those events.

Could be a bit more than a film then

However, with the majority of FFVII's team working on FFXIII and FFvXIII, I can't see how they are going to span the VII compilation when XIII is supposed to be lasting 10 years...especially since after Nomura has finished working on Versus he will be solely focusing on the Kingdom Hearts series.

The finale can be nothing else, surely the PS3 remake is but only round the corner. Square-Enix knows there is moneys to be had. For now I have my PSP cocked and ready for Crisis Core to hit the not so sunny shores of Brittania. You Americans have it lucky
